Dean's Review of The Kids Are All Right
The Kids Are All Right(2010)
I read the reviews and I love the actors, but this movie just did not strike me the way it seemed to others.
There was absolutely nothing to hang on to in this film.
The characters were unlikable for the most part. The relationship lacked, well...love.
The chemistry between the players was not there at all.
I adore Julianne Moore, Annette Bening and Mark Ruffalo. I thought for sure I was going to adore this film, but it missed me.
It felt contrived. I knew what was coming every move and the fact that the central relationship in this movie is lesbian is probably the main reason this movie received as much publicity as it did.
I didn't hate this film, I simply did not think much of it and I really wanted to love it.
This is a decent movie about the trials and tribulations of any family and it misses the mark in evoking emotion, passion, chemistry and even dialogue. It had all the component parts, but they did not come together well.
This movie was just "all right" and nothing more.
