Non-canonical big screen version of Dr. Who. This is essentially a remake of the original story that introduced the Daleks on the series. There are many differences, most notably that the title character is not a time lord, just a crackpot old inventor. Ultimately, the original TV version is better, but this is still worth a look.
Langella makes a decent Dracula, but is lacking in the creepiness that Lugosi or Lee give the role. Some changes to the characters from other versions are a bit confusing, but, for the most part, this is a solid film.
It has been a good year for re-boots. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" blew me away, and now "X-Men: First Class" completely exceeded all expectations. Casting is the biggest plus here, with Michael Fassbender getting Magneto completely right, and surprisingly, Kevin Bacon as a creep-tacular villain.
