AMAZING! By far one of the best films I've seen lately. Charming, warm and funny. The stop motion is just beyond good and though the plot is pretty straight forward, you just cannot help being smitten with the quirky Boxtrolls. I just LOVE this movie.
Espen G falseA for effort? There's some great scenes, there's some good ideas, just a bit too many crammed into one film, and the special effects are up there amongst the better ones. But, dear oh dear, the poor - or more precisely - the lack of plot makes it a rather messy affair. There's like no character development, what you see is what you get, the opening scenes are totally reduntant and leaves nothing to the imagination. When Jupiter (Mila Kunis) is kidnapped for the third time in a row and Caine (Channing Tatum..Yum) saves her in yet another implausible act, you find your mind wandering and your eyes resting on Tatum's body. Throw in some serious over the top acting by Eddie Redmayne and you have yourself a hot mess of a film. Despite all of this, I found the film likeable, there's something there, a glimpse of something it could have been, and it's a very aesthetically pleasing film to watch.
