Surprisingly, a very delightful ensemble cast of seniors.

This movie somehow verifies the general belief that woman is likely to fall in love with the man after such intense sexual intimacy, irregardless of what her ulterior motive is from the outset. Check out the scene where Tang Wei serenades Tony Leung with a classical Chinese tune. No sex, just her feminine charm. Tony's tears are just so emotionally overpowering! To me, that is the most unforgettable scene.

Another triumphant masterpiece of Ang Lee. Definitely one of the best films for year 2012. Not only that everything in the film is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, he is able to convey a simplistic yet philosophical message to all audience. Do you believe in God? Even to all those atheists out there, would you choose to believe in a quasi-fantasy; or the bloodily brutal struggle of mankind, during critical moment of life and death? On a separate note, I really fancy the diversity in the production team.

Midnight in Paris

As much as I fancy the story, as well as other historical figures in the background, I wish the director had casted someone else to take up the role, not Owen Wilson. He looks more like a sleeky opportunist, not so much a man with great artistic temperaments. I would not be slow to call him a bad apple undermining a potentially good movie.

In spite of its masterful cinematography, the entire film looks a little pretentious to me. It feels like the director is trying too hard to impress the Oscar Committee. I for one is not very impressed.
