It shows that this film was made up as it went along. That's it's main appeal and that' s why i like it. It starts with the look of a serious, gritty murder thriller but ends as a goofy, anything goes comedy (featuring a homosexual character and a man in a gorilla suit!), via a low rent Batman and Robin rip-off, with musical numbers thrown in too! Odd.
A very surreal film. Is it reality? Is it fantasy? Do i care? It is nontheless very nice to look at, as is the leading lady Janine Reynaud as Lorna. A highly pretentious film probably best to be watched when high.
Awesome, awesome film. John Barrowman is my new favourite actor! Why he was never cast as SUPERMAN i'll never understand, and the fact that he wasn't proves that there are people out there who are severely more wrong-minded than I. This film is a hoot. The shittiest, shitty special effects that are somehow sooo bad but at the same time so damn endearing and re-watchable, terrible worst of the worst acting (Barrowman excluded, but his campness made me laugh ALOT) - great shots of Great White Sharks (a favourite of mine at the moment) and some wonderfully stoopid dialogue make this film a winner for me. I particularly liked the mis-spelling of 'MISTERY' that appeared on a computer at one point. I notice this shit - It registers and endears me to crap like this. Most people dont give a shit and are just steered towards mainstream stuff never discovering gems like this! I got a hellova lot of ENTERTAINMENT from this movie and that is surely one of the key things that a film should deliver. Plus it only cost £3! Bargain! Cannot recommend this film enough!! I just wish John Barrowman had starred in more films that involved sharks - i'd watch each and every one of them!
Italian rip-off of JAWS that is still banned in the USA due to legal action brought against distribution of the film by Universal. This interpretation has 3 things going for it. 1.The shark is ALOT bigger than the one in JAWS (cool!) 2.It contains all the gore that you wish JAWS had (cool!) and 3.In some ways i prefer the music of this film - it just has that classic '80s Italian sound to it, like Fulci's movies had. The direction is nowhere near as tight as JAWS (which is a masterpiece of movie making!), the acting is not as good, the special effects are generally MUCH poorer. But it depends what you want from a film doesn't it? Definatley worth a look - especially the scene where the guy gets his legs bitten off by the shark while he's hanging fropm a helicopter!!
Its like one of those nature films that Disney used to make. The whole thing is narrated in that style. The story concerns a guy known as "Trapper", he lives in the wilderness and he is friends with many of the animals out there. A series of events lead to him being chased across the winter wilderness by hunters on a charge of murder. The first half of the film is well paced and humourous the second half is Trapper being chased, which tends to drag. I did however find myself routing for Trapper in hope of escape in his 'challenge to be free'. This film also features a cool theme song with the lyrics "A legend was he, he had a challenge to be free!" An enjoyable 90 minutes, probably best watched on a lazy sunday.
