Between a 5/10 and 6/10, Teleios would have definitely would have worked better if it was a pilot episode of an ongoing series than a stand alone story.
McQuown is to be commended for willing to do something different with horror tropes that have become stale through constant repetition.
Everything Beautiful is Far Away is visually stunning and speaks volumes with so little - its brevity flies by with ideas that stick. There's quirk but it doesn't feel forced, and there isn't a single cynical frame in the film, making it something that feels fresh. The message behind Ohs and Sisson's film is a simple one, but a fundamental human truth that we need to be reminded of now more than ever.
The screenplay doesn't rise to the level of the behind-the-camera craftmanship or the acting.
'Tribades' takes on today's stormy political climate, religious zealotry and gender issues, and incorporates them into a sexy medieval vampire movie that not only adds relevancy to the story, but presents it all in an extreme, absurd theatre of the bizarre.
