Joe Castoral's Movie Ratings - Rotten Tomatoes

Movie Ratings and Reviews

Thor: Ragnarok

Best Thor movie to date. Great story, very active, and great use of Chris Hemsworth's humor. Altogether I had a great time seeing this movie. My only complaint is that the 3D wasn't necessary, IMAX should've available without it

War for the Planet of the Apes

Who knew CGI apes would be such great actors? Great finish to this trilogy. Definitely had to add this to my movie collection.

A Cure For Wellness

Is it a thriller (Shutter Island) or its it a supernatural thriller ( The Sixth Sense)? Should I try to figure it out or just wait for it to end? There was no character investment in this dud of a movie. I didn't even feel it was a worthy rental.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Homecoming is the perfect title. Spiderman comes home to his roots.Tom Holland is cast perfectly for the young, wise-acre, high school super hero. Michael Keaton as the Vulture was brought a real sincerity to this villain.Saw this one in IMAX definitely worth the extra dollars for this movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Not better, not worse. The humor and effects were as good as the first and although there was a fair amount of action this movie does give up some of that to delve deeper into character relationships.I still give this one high marks. If you're a Marvel fan than this is well worth seeing.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

This the absolute best way to tell a Star Wars story. This was more well done using characters from Episode !V than the re-skinning of the same movie and calling Episode VII. I really think that this story out shined the special effects which were also incredible. My only small complaint is there wasn't enough time to detail more of the lives of these characters. However, I know that would have turned this into a four hour movie. Do yourself a favor and see this at least once on the big screen. You can't call yourself a Star Wars fan if you don't.

Underworld: Blood Wars

not the best in the series, but it still delivers. I give this movie high marks for having all the expected elements. I expect you'll only like this movie if you liked the first one

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

It's not Harry Potter , so what? It's obvious there is going to be a lot more to learn about these characters..None the less it's a truly enjoyable film with plenty of homages to the HP franchise. The story bounces around a bit but otherwise the characters are intriguing and since I am an animal lover I would have a hard time not liking this movie

Hacksaw Ridge

A definite must see if war history is your thing. I never heard this story before but it is the inspirational one I've seen or heard of. Whether you're a believer or not, you can't help but be moved by this soldier's experience.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Although this movie tries very hard, this isn't a Harry Potter type of movie. None of the characters garnered any empathy from me nor did the plot intrigue me. If you want a Harry Potter movie then see a Harry Potter movie, there are plenty of them.

Definitely thought provoking. I didn't see it in the theater but enjoyed it just the same. Outstanding cast and intriguing story.

The Magnificent Seven

I'm not a fan of remakes, especially of classic movies, and this movie doesn't change my mind on it. The characters are colorful enough even though none of them get enough screen time to delve too deeply into any of them.. If you saw the first one then this will be a disappointment. If you haven't then this movie will entertain enough for a dreary afternoon on the couch

I gave it 3 stars because it definitely doesn't need to be seen in the theaters. If you've seen the original then there's no need to see it at all. Even the chariot scene ( the best scene of the movies) pales in comparison to the first film. The only thing this movie does for me is prove Hollywood's lack of imagination these days

Doctor Strange

Marvel meets the psychedelic. The character origin story was kept brief. The CGI was incredible and the action was great , my only complaint is the story appeared sporadic and slow considering the pace of the action.

Star Trek Beyond

Just saw this movie, as a trekker I did like but I can't say I loved it. It has action plenty enough, the CGI was impressive and the story was good. I do think that the make-up was extremely lackluster. If I'm to believe in the story and the reality presented then there needs to be talent in the make-up department. This may seem like a small complaint in a multi-million dollar movie production but with digital cinematography and high definition screens this may make or break a fantasy/sci-fi movie.

X-Men: Apocalypse

I just don't think the movie lived up to all my expectations. since the producers had to reboot this franchise, I thought they would have learned a few things. I'm still hoping an x-men movie will elevate to it's potential.

The Martian
The Martian(2015)

Even though many people seemed to like this movie I wasn't as enthused by it. The acting is fine and the story has compelling moments but for me these primarily solo movies just don't have enough to keep me enthralled enough to score them higher

As graphic the violence gets and obscene as some scenes dwell, I have to say this character is portrayed the closest to its graphic novel story. Definitely not for the little kiddies

The Revenant
The Revenant(2015)

DiCaprio really does earn his Oscar for this performance. The intensity of the situations he encounters in contrast to the panoramic views of the environment truly brings out the experience of both.

Captain America: Civil War

I won't be peppering these comments with superlatives. The grade I've given should cover my opinion of this movie. What can be said is how much each of the characters shined.Their wit , humor, and charm was well represented. Most superhero movies have defined good vs. evil as well as what side the hero is on. But what happens when the lines are blurred? That's what makes this movie so different from others. My only complaint is since this movie is so good, it will be too long until is arrives on DVD for me to buy my copy.

American Sniper

I truly regret not having seen this movie earlier. Bradley Cooper did a top-notch job with this performance. I don't think the real Chris Kyle could have portrayed himself much better. Clint Eastwood may not be able to talk to empty chairs, LOL, but he's a proven high caliber director.

Exodus: Gods and Kings

this was an abysmal rendition of one of the great biblical stories. To think the man that gave us Gladiator could do this to poor Moses. I think I'll be sticking with Charleton Heston's version.

Jurassic World

Would being able to make a dinosaur ever actually become boring? This movie tries to answer that question. Not as great as many of my friends made this to be however it's not bad. So yes I have my own copy of it.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

I really enjoyed this move even though I'm not a major fan of temporal displacement movies, but this one had many good twists to make the story compelling.

If you like quirky characters this is your movie. "what would you do to get ahead?" This is definitely a darker character than Gyllenhaal has played before. I think Gyllenhaal has the makings of a great actor, I just don't think he's had that breakout role yet. Reminds me a bit of Stephen Dorff, great potential but never went anywhere. I hope Gyllenhaal has better luck.

Guardians of the Galaxy

I didn't give this a great rating because it had so much potential. It really started out great. I thought the Quill character was going to be Marvel's Han Solo, but he somehow dumbs the whole thing down at the end.Did Vin Diesel really get paid six figures to say" I am Groot" through the whole movie? I can't believe some people actually told me this was the best super-hero movie to date. I won't be taking movie advise from them.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Humor check, action check, fun and exciting yes this is a good movie. does it follow the storyline? The answer is No like most if not all Marvel movies. but if you're a fan like I am, you can look past all that and just go see a fun movie

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

the story and action are very well done. I guess CGI apes are the true way to go

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

I believe this installment at all the items necessary to be a good hit however I do think that it went too much on spectacle and not enough on story

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Classic Tolkien as see by Peter Jackson. If you are a nerd like myself then you won't mind that this is just the beginning (except that we have to wait a year for the next one). Grandeur in scenery; epic storytelling and great battles peppered with just enough humor.

I have my friend Danny Keating to thank for turning me on to this one: Lately Tom Cruise either really misses or really hits. This time is a definite hit. Complex story along with a decent amount of action. Thanks Danny

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

A pleasant surprise. Action with a story. If Captain America is your favorite character then you need to see this movie . Definitely going to add this DVD to my collection .

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Although the actor that plays this Spider Man is much better than the first one.. I didn't much care for the villain in this movie. Although this installment gets a passing grade for its action and special effects , I'm hoping that this movie is a good setup for the third.

I don't think this movie is going to convince anyone , for or against this story. It did answer one question I had. As a movie it was rather slow I don't think the story of Noah was meant to be an action or fantasy style movie.

I saw this on DVD , although it was a strange story, I did think it hit the mark on action. Morgan Freeman as a bad guy always adds extra dimensions to the story.

Dolphin Tale
Dolphin Tale(2011)

Will definitely put a lump in your throat, especially since it's based on a true story.

Water boarding, should we or shouldn't we? This movie does take a position. This movie did have an interesting way to tell the story. I think they could have done more with the talent that they had.

I can't believe I put this on my want to see list. The acting was atrocious and the story was dismal. Just goes to prove, board games don't make even fair movies.

Life of Pi
Life of Pi(2012)

Although the story was intriguing I didn't come away with the empathy for the characters I felt they deserved. I'm just not a fan of one-man film narratives.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

totally action packed definitely worthy of the first movie's set-up

Marvel's The Avengers

Fantastic, Outstanding, completely entertaining. I know I'll get some static for giving this movie such a high mark but I don't care. The action in this movie blew my socks off. My biggest complaint of these teamed character movies is they never fought as a team. Not in this case however. There were also some great one-liners and not all of them were given to Robert Downey Jr.

Star Trek Into Darkness

Just like Star Trek II was better than I with the original cast so it is with this cast. If you are a trekker like myself than you'll find many homages to the original cast. To newbie trekkers, you find action, humor and a decent story to boot.

Rise of the Guardians

For those kids who still believe in the fantastical these fantastical characters, this movie brings that charm to the screen. Do you need to shell out a bunch of dough to see it? I didn't. This movie is fine for the comfort of your own home.

As someone who enjoys historical dramas, this one is outstanding. I truly believed I was looking and listening to our greatest President. If you want a good war movie , see Private Ryan. If you want a glimpse into American history and some of the most outstanding acting I've seen in a long time then see this movie.

This movie is definitely toilet humor. However I do admit to some laugh-out-loud moments. I know it's got a cute teddy bear in it but it's definitely not for children.

Taken 2
Taken 2(2012)

Neeson pulled off some fairly good moves in this movie, but I just thought the whole thing was pretty implausible. I doubt you'll have to see this in a theater, I doubt anyone will be talking about this enough to spoil it for you.

Premium Rush
Premium Rush(2012)

This is a quaint action movie. The story bounces around a bit. There is plenty of action and stunts to impress most viewers. I don't think Oscar will be knocking on anyone's door from this movie but a night on the couch with some buddies, I say go for it.

As a period peace it was well done. However the acting was mediocre at best. Even with Gary Oldman, who didn't get that much time on camera, couldn't bring this movie above it's mediocrity as acting goes. Set design and costuming was excellent. I truly believed I was in prohibition America. Although I do recommend this movie, I definitely don't expect people to shell out a lot of dough for it.

The Bourne Legacy

I found this to be a good stand alone movie for it's action. The story was moved along at a decent pace. And there is some decent acting. There are plenty of homages to the original movies.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Definitely not as good as the first but it still had it's moments. I just don't think this Moriarity was up to spar with this Holmes.

Red Lights
Red Lights(2012)

This film wanted to be a mystery like the "The Sixth Sense" but fell short. My other complaint is there are no scenes with Weaver and De Niro together. Definitely only worthy of the small screen.

The Son of No One

As thrillers go, the story wasn't bad but not compelling. Even with Pacino, not the greatest acting I've seen. If there's nothing else on, then go for it. Just to expect too much.

The Expendables 2

Was it predictable? Yes. Was it cheesy? Yes. Will it be nominated for an Oscar? Hell No! But it does give what it promises; plenty of action, chase scenes and unbelievable gun fire and explosions. Everything an action movie fan needs.

Total Recall
Total Recall(2012)

OK the story was a bit flat, however the action and CGI effects make up for it. I was happy to see my girl Kate Beckinsale back to her bad-ass self again. After Contraband, she definitely needed this. I don't really think this movie needed to be remade, but since they did it, I do feel they stepped it up a bit.

John Carter
John Carter(2012)

Considering it's price tag, it definitely didn't live up to expectations but this movie was entertaining. Although the story itself is rather stale. There was quite a bit of action. Sci-fi through the lens of the 19th century should be left to Jules Verne.

The Amazing Spider-Man

OK this is a reboot and yes it seemed too early at first but I have to say, this is the Spiderman I wish they had made the first time. All the characters had much more depth to them and they weren't so Saturday-morning cartoonish in style. I really think this is worth seeing in a theater at least once before it goes to DVD.

Wrath of the Titans

The first one was better, but this installment had it's fair share of excitement. I didn't see it in 3D so I can't speak to any additional advantages that might have given the movie.

A Thousand Words

Although there were a couple of laugh-out-loud moments, that's not enough to recommend this dismal film. If Eddie is trying to go down the path of Bill Cosby (going from raunchy to saintly) , then start doing Jello commercials and stay away from any more movies.

Although it's a cast of mostly unknowns(there are two that I do know), I found the story compelling. I really enjoyed how this tale doesn't come completely together. I normally don't like loose threads but I think they achieve a certain compelling fascination of more to come.

Men in Black III

I wasn't planning on seeing this in the theaters but a buddy wanted to. I was very pleasantly surprised. Josh Brolin as the young Agent K is outstanding. All give great performances but his out-shined all the others. I definitely think this is worth a night out to the movies.

This movie is outstanding in every way. Hoffman and De Niro put in outstanding performances. I think one of the show stealers has to be Vittorio Gassman's performance as King Benny. Revenge is the name of the game here and it is done brilliantly.

Man on a Ledge

Not a bad thriller, much of it was predictable. Good DVD rental. I have to ask, what is with Ed Harris? He looked like death rolled over!

Wahlberg better watch the roles he's taking or he'll become another Sylvester Stallone. I know he's a Tough from Boston, but all of his characters don't have to be. Also, Beckinsale has played too many strong female roles to become the damsel in distress. Mediocre work by all involved.

Act of Valor
Act of Valor(2012)

I wasn't overly excited about this film when I first heard about it. I was completely and pleasantly surprised. Although as expected, the acting was not of the highest caliber. However the story was completely intriguing. I grew up enthralled by superhero comics but these guys are the real life superheros. I left this movie with a better understanding of what these soldiers do and sacrifice for this country.

Not the greatest acting I've ever seen but it did have some good moments. Mostly the fight scenes. Henry Cavill , who is slated to be the new Superman, has had many good performances in the cable series The Tudors. If you like good fight scenes then see this, if your looking for great acting see something else. I'm hoping one day they will actually make a movie about the story of the Greek Gods.

Underworld: Awakening

I am a fan of the series. It's much more adult and darker than the Twilight series( not that I would ever see one of them). I believe this installment brings the series back to it's roots. Beckinsale brings much more violence and grimness to Selene this time around.

J. Edgar
J. Edgar(2011)

Considering this is not one of history's most adoring characters, I can say this is a good account of Hoover. The acting is admirable but the make-up for the old-age characters seemed rather lackluster. I wasn't sure if the actors were over doing the concept of old age or if they were afraid that the make-up would simply fall apart if the moved too quickly.

The Double
The Double(2011)

I rather liked this movie, There were some large holes in the plot. It's a good-guy to bad-guy to good-guy type of movie. As long as you see it at home and not delve into a theater, then I think most will enjoy it.

War Horse
War Horse(2011)

Best acting in the movie was done by the horse. As a family style movie it's well worth seeing but I don't think it needs a theater.

Disney's A Christmas Carol

I give above average for the animation but I felt the meaning of the story was lost trying to darken the tale too much.

Although the cast is stellar, I don't think any of them had the air time to give their all. However this movie was most thought provoking for me. " what would I do in their shoes?" I found myself still wondering.

The Ides of March

If you want to go from an optimist to a cynic about the political machine then see this movie.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

We have an extremely talented cast here. This just seemed to be more of a patchwork type of story. Constantly going elsewhere in the past to tell the story. This made it hard to follow for me. I'll admit, maybe I'm not as smart as this movie is supposed to be.

As with most mysteries, large stars can't be cast in ( on the surface at least) a small role without shining a light on that character noting his more important role to play which may give away the ending. That being said I did enjoy this movie to give it an above average mark. Some aspects were obvious and others a complete surprise.

Some really good actors, and really bizarre theme music sewn together with a gruesome topic. If really out there is your thing then you might enjoy this mix of horror peppered with bits of comedy.

Real Steel
Real Steel(2011)

I had a game as a kid called "Rock'em Sock'em Robots" . This movie brought back those childhood memories. It has great effects but all the corn in the script induced a lesser grade from me.

Great animation, and had some funny moments even if the story was a bit predictable

I did like this movie but not enthusiastically. It's not like the boxing movie hasn't been done before. However, unlike Rocky for example, these characters do have a story to be told. Since this is cage fighting, much of the fight choreography was very well done.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

There are many homages to the original movie. The CGI is outstanding but the humanity shows through very well in these simian replicas. Definitely worth seeing.

Kung Fu Panda 2

Animation is A+ and the story flows very well. If you liked the first one then this one is a must see.

Super 8
Super 8(2011)

This is a fun Sci-fi adventure. It had some banality to it but it also had some good action. The writing may have be woeful but the action was there, just not enough.

30 Days of Night

I guess this was a better comic book(I never read any of them), but it was a lousy movie. I'm someone who really likes vampire movies when they are done well. Hartnett is going to be known as the cowardly sheriff after this movie.

30 Minutes or Less

I think my friend liked this more than I did. I just never had any laugh-out-loud moments with this movie.

Very colorful characters. Since I lived through this history, it made it more interesting for me. Only thing I didn't care for was the editing of the language. Had this not been a Disney film, the language would have been as colorful as the characters.

Perfect Stranger

Very interesting murder mystery. Not overly active but the twists and turns in the story made it compelling enough to keep my attention.

Source Code
Source Code(2011)

Perpetual story-lines can be rather annoying to watch. However this movie did have some actual intelligent thought to it. Three stars for me means; I wouldn't pay to see it in a theater but it wouldn't make a bad DVD rental.

Mars Needs Moms

The best part of this movie is the animation, top-notch. Unfortunately that can't carry an entire movie. The Gibble character takes the Stockholm Syndrome to a whole new level. The story itself just didn't hold my attention. This will make a decent Mother's Day show but I doubt it will go much farther.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

All the ingredients are there. This just didn't grab me like the first one. However, as a Trekker, I did enjoy Nimoy as Sentinel Prime. There is an homage to Trek in this movie. I just don't think it lives up to all the hype.

The Brave One

If you've seen "Death Wish" and liked it, then this movie will do the same. Foster and Howard have some good chemistry together. The story moves along at a good pace although some of the situations are implausible.

The Number 23

As thrillers go, it's worth seeing. The movie can be a bit hard to follow. I think it tries too hard to be confusing and believable and falls short on the believable part.

The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising

Another movie that looked better in the trailers. I think they were trying for another Harry Potter type character and it completely bombed.

3:10 to Yuma
3:10 to Yuma(2007)

Crowe gives a good performance here. The characters however do get into some unbelievable predicaments. However it does well as a standard western drama. I think most will enjoy it.

No Country for Old Men

Bardem plays a totally eerie as well as haunting bad guy. This is a good cast with some great acting all around. Definitely worth seeing.

Public Enemies

Johnny Depp at his quirky best. The pace and style of the movie are very well choreographed.

Very intense court drama. Gosling and Hopkins have outstanding scenes together. This is an intelligent murder/drama. I almost feel the presence of Hannibal Lecter in Hopkins' performance

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

I know I'm going to be getting a bunch of grief for this, but this had to be someone's drug induced concept. I'll give it credit for original thinking (considering Hollywood's lack of it for quite some time) but this story was just way out there. The animation was great; the story moved fairly quickly; and there were some rather funny moments. However it was just way too bizarre for me.

Monsters vs. Aliens

Great animation, Colbert as the President had me in stitches. Characters were very well voiced.

If you liked The Princess Bride, then you'll like this. I however did not. I give it some points for some funny scenes and it did fairly well with the special effects.

I was just as disoriented watching this as the characters were supposed to be. There was no real character development so it was hard for me to feel anything for any of these characters.

Inside Job
Inside Job(2010)

No special effects , only one big name actor and yet this movie has pissed me off , informed me and dug up more negative emotions than any horror movie in the last five years could ever do. If you lost your home, your job, your life savings or all of the above than you need to see this movie and just maybe you'll understand how it happened.

Red Riding Hood

Some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Whoever wrote this drivel of a screenplay should be arrested for ridiculous storytelling. I went out of my way not to see any of the Twilight movies and here I am tricked into seeing one anyway.

Animal Kingdom

Talk about a dis-functional family! Most of these actors are unknown to me or had small parts in blockbuster movies. A pretty good movie if hard to follow at times.

A really good Eastwood movie. Another actor turned director that really makes inspiring movies. If I doubted Jolies talent before, I can't any longer. She's shone the breadth and depth of this character that I haven't seen by her in previous roles.

Knowing someone who does this for a living made this movie hit home for me. Don't watch it if you have an overly sensitive constitution. The acting was mediocre but the payoff was original. I was surprised at some moments of the movie but many more times there were obvious points in the plot. I didn't pay to see it, you shouldn't either.

X-Men: First Class

Story was good but nothing to write home about. Special effects were good. However, I wonder if one day Marvel movies will actually make one of these that sticks to world the comics created. These are some of my favorite characters from my childhood and I don't recognize any of them.

Live Free or Die Hard

Much of what makes this series enjoyable is in this movie. If you liked the others than this one won't disappoint.

Disneynature Oceans

I give it a high mark as a documentary. The topic truly fascinates me.

There is some fine acting in this film. Anthony Hopkins as John Quincy Adams is at the top. Even McConaughey managed to elevate his game for this one. Although Spielberg takes some poetic license with the facts of this event, it is still a very good historic drama.

Captain America: The First Avenger

I didn't hate it, I didn't love it, I thought I was watching something closer to Buck Rogers than Steve Rogers. I will admit that I liked Captain America more as part of the Avengers than I did as a stand-alone character.

Philippe is impressing me more and more as an actor. This story moves rather quickly. The interaction between Philippe's and Cooper's characters is intense. If you like dramas then this will be a good choice.

Terminator Salvation

The effects were decent. For what this series is about, it's worth seeing. I stopped trying to follow the storyline of this series after the 3rd movie.

Inglourious Basterds

Knowing my WWII history, this movie had me wondering. Not a bad movie however don't write any term papers using it as a reference.

State of Play

Crowe doing some good work here. Affleck not so much. The story is as much hit and miss as the acting. Could have been better but definitely could have been worse.

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

Not as good as the first. Hank Azaria actually has the best lines in the movie. Entertaining but not theater worthy, meaning you can wait for the DVD or even Pay per View

The Conspirator

As someone who reads and watches all things on The Civil War, I found this story compelling. Although I admit to not knowing much about this event other than the result of the Lincoln assassination. If poetic license wasn't taken with this project, then I will have learned a great deal more regarding the turmoil this country experienced after Lincoln's murder. As a movie I didn't find the acting to be very passionate considering the emotions that must have been rampant at that time. I still gave it high marks for the detail put into the sets and time-frame.

The series has come full circle, sort of! This one starts fast out of the gate but dies dismally as it goes on. I actually liked the concept of this one but the movie just doesn't have any follow-through. All the characters are understood as to why they were selected yet the Topher Grace character was way too enigmatic. Any fan of this series will be entertained by this installment, just don't expect too much.

The Rite
The Rite(2011)

No one is every going to top "The Exorcist" as a possession movie. That being said this isn't a bad installment. Anthony Hopkins however brings this movie up from the brink.

Event Horizon

If you like the dark side of Sci-fi then this is for you. It can be hard to follow at times.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2

I know people sometimes use the word best because it's the newest movie but I honestly do feel that this climax to the "Potter" series is it's finest. Just about everything from the last 7 movies will be seen, in some form or another, in this film.

The Last Airbender

There might be plenty of CGI and decent fight choreography this show falls completely flat on story and the acting is utterly dismal. Luckily I only saw this through Netflix.

The concept was interesting. It was a bit slow in many areas. Cross "Bladerunner" with "I-Robot" and you'll get the feel of this movie.

Battle: Los Angeles

Good Action; Special effects were fine. The only problem I had was that the story had no cohesion. The sporadic feel of the movie made me wonder many times what I had missed when in fact I hadn't missed anything.

The Wolfman
The Wolfman(2010)

There is a lot of acting talent here to be such a bad movie.

The King's Speech

Definitely a good period piece. The detail is outstanding for the sets and costumes. Was it up to all the hype? Not really. I'm giving it a better than average grade because of Rush's performance. Quirky and outrageous suits him to a tee. Is it worth seeing? Absolutely! But it doesn't need a big screen, unless you have one in your home.

A sort of reverse Joan of Ark story. This doesn't show early Christianity in a very good light. Most of the cast is unknown, at least here in The States. It's a very good story and based on real persons. I can't say how accurate this story is considering I've never heard of it before. You'll experience great scenery and good acting, but this is a drama so there won't be much in the way of action.

The Tourist
The Tourist(2010)

Intriguing story. Not the fastest pace but good storytelling. What most impressed me was how alluring Angelina Jolie is in this movie. She has a real classic beauty in this film, much like the classic women of older films.( It's nice to see something other than "Barby Doll" cut outs).

The Next Three Days

Intriguing story. This wasn't what I expected but was pleasantly impressed with the complexity of situation.

Toy Story, meet The Apocalypse! Well this does have a good spin to it. Animation is very good. The characters are well voiced with the talents of Wood , Plummer, and Landau. However the story has been told many times before in classics like The Terminator and Mad Maxx and The Matrix.

Green Lantern

It dragged in some areas but for the most part I enjoyed it. Would have liked to have seen more action scenes.

Love and Other Drugs

Since I'm not a big fan of romance movies, the best I can say here is not bad. It has all the predictable ingredients of a date movie.

Tron Legacy
Tron Legacy(2010)

Great special effects. Especially the young and old Jeff Bridges performing opposite each other. Action was good at the beginning and at the end but the story really lingered too long in the middle.

Everything in this movie was predictable. Watching it with a friend I was calling just about everything in the movie ( which irritated the friend ). There was a good chase scene but that's not enough to recommend this less than stellar piece of work.

Wedding Daze
Wedding Daze(2006)

I'll give Biggs credit for having the nerve to wear that stupid cupid get-up but everything else about this movie is a loser. Every romance cliche is in it. Don't waste your time and definitely don't waste your money.

Learning Curve

This is a B movie without a doubt. You will not recognize a single actor in it, I'll bet. However seeing these degenerate students get their due was worth it. The set-up is slow and cumbersome and the acting is mediocre but it's worth seeing if only once.

The Social Network

I have to ask myself, can Zuckerburg be that much of an asshole or was this movie exaggerating. As movies go, not as good as everyone was leading me to believe. I did find the topic somewhat interesting.

I admit to not knowing much about these characters. (Never saw the animated show) However it didn't seem to matter. I found myself immersed in the characters fairly quickly. Plus there was plenty of action and special effects to keep me interested.

Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3(2007)

I actually like this one although as with the last two I can do without the Mary Jane love story. However the Peter Parker vs. Harry Osborn dilemma made the movie much more interesting.

The Bourne Ultimatum

All the ingredients of success for the first two films are here in this movie as well. If you like the first two then this one won't disappoint.

Batman Forever

This was a total caricature of the first movie. Would have done better to bring back Adam West and his tights.

Trying to combine teenage antics with a serious murder mystery does not spell success for any movie. The creators of this movie went out of their way to prove that very point.

The Guardian
The Guardian(2006)

This is a mediocre DVD rental. Just didn't buy into Ashton Kutcher as the tormented soul that he was supposed to portray.

The Golden Compass

Trying to ride the wave of the Narnia success didn't work out well for this movie.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age

I think the acting was done well. I think the story went flat because it tried to put way too much into one film and so they glanced over many parts that should have been given much more detail.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets

Utterly ridiculous concepts. The first one was entertaining, this didn't even go that far. Hollywood needs to learn when not to make sequels. This is a perfect example for them.

Charlie Wilson's War

Well worth seeing especially with what's going on now in Afghanistan. Great work by Hanks but it's Hoffman's character that really stands out for me.

The Bucket List

Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman "together!" Great chemistry with these actors.

Inside Man
Inside Man(2006)

Saw this by mistake. I usually don't waste my money on Spike Lee movies. This movie just proved my point.

Very well made with great character actors. The History channel gives more detail about this event, but as a historical drama, it works very well.

The Lincoln Lawyer

I'll admit to liking courtroom dramas. McConaughey has one of his better performances but it's the supporting cast that really make this movie work. You can definitely wait for the DVD or even Pay-per-view.

Capitalism: A Love Story

I'm usually not prone to extreme viewpoints, however this movie hit pretty close to the mark. If you want to see greed at it's worst and maybe even some ways for the middle-class to get back some of it's worth then you should see this movie.

The Adjustment Bureau

This should be categorized as a romance movie. Acting was horrible, story concept was lame. Don't spend any money to see this.

The Mechanic
The Mechanic(2011)

Story was just too predictable. Not as much action or martial arts moves for a Statham film.

Nothing to brag about

Case 39
Case 39(2010)

Really stupid movie. Want to see a similar movie? Try "The Bad Seed." It's an old B&W but the kid in that movie really gave me the creeps. This movie went beyond anything remotely believable.

The Eagle
The Eagle(2011)

I really wanted to like this movie, but I didn't. I really like historic dramas but this just fell on it's face. Acting was poor. The action was dull. Even Donald Sutherland, who's a great actor, couldn't do anything to spice this up. I'm just glad I didn't spend any money on it.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Animation was superb. Most life-like animated animals I've seen yet. Not a bad story either.

Humor=great; Action=great;Characters=great. A little slow in the middle but otherwise fantastic comic to movie adventure, it was really fun to watch. I don't think it's necessary to see in 3-d, those effects didn't seem all that consequential.

I Am Number Four

I'm not sure what the producer was going for here. Is this going to be a new TV series or are we supposed to expect more of these in the movies? Anyway I think this one falls short. Some good action at the end but it takes way too long to get there and you still don't get what these characters are all about.

The Informant!

Just don't spend your money to see this. Damon's character was just plain irritating. Maybe that's what he was supposed to be.

Extraordinary Measures

I was disappointed, I thought Ford and Fraser would have had better moments.

An Eastwood movie; you may love it, you may hate it, but there's no denying his ability to tell a story. Whether it was a huge tsunami or a kid chasing his lost baseball hat, you really felt the intensity. I personally liked this movie. Although I do understand why some people may have felt the ending didn't really tie up the movie but I also understand why it wasn't meant to.

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The animated version is all we needed, this was a big waste of time and money

To Kill A Mockingbird

Gregory Pecks best in my opinion. Just great classic acting.

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt

Not a bad story, it's worth seeing when there's nothing else on.

Assault on Precinct 13

Wasn't any better the second time around.

The Perfect Storm

I'm on the fence about this one. It had some good moments but not the best script I've heard.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

Very funny! Mr Hand was my favorite character in the movie.

I liked it. Had some really funny stuff.

The Green Hornet

The Green Hornet is not supposed to be a comedy character. This whole movie is a total dud.

The Maiden Heist

The movie had it's moments but the story fell flat in many places.

The Fighter
The Fighter(2010)

I liked it although not as well as Cinderella Man

The Oxford Murders

Intriguing murder mystery with some really good acting from Hurt and Wood.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

OK, so I told everyone that I didn't want to see a remake of this because I didn't think they could do it justice. I was wrong. I did like it even though I still like the first one better.

The Switch
The Switch(2010)

I wound up seeing this anyway, and it just reinforced my lack of interest in romance movies. None of these characters were very interesting. I even found the kid to be more annoying than anything. Goldblum can usually provide some comic relief to a movie but added nothing to this story.

A very good action flick. I didn't expect to like it but I did.

Very, Very strange movie. Didn't like the ending.

Righteous Kill

All I can say,Pacino and De Niro together awesome

If Looks Could Kill

If you want to see a funny spoof on James Bond, this is your movie

Men of Honor
Men of Honor(2000)

Great movie I liked that it was based on a true story. Gooding and De Niro are great together.

I have to say that Ryan Reynolds does some outstanding acting in this movie but an entire movie set inside a coffin is asking way too much of an audience.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

I saw this movie wanting to like it. However this movie didn't have many of the Narnian characters in it. It had plenty of action and special effects but overall was a bit disappointing.

It had some good moments. Washington had the best lines.

Although the acting would go a little over the top at times, I mostly enjoyed this movie.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Where Schwarzenegger is a main character, I think this one is the best of the series.

The Power of One

I can't believe Morgan Freeman didn't receive some sort of award for this film. A terrific movie with great acting and high caliber actors. If you liked Invictus then you'll enjoy this movie.

Planet of the Apes

Acting from all but Wahlberg was pretty good, fx were pretty good. I think the story just fell flat. I am a fan of the original movies and that might color my judgment.

Good Will Hunting

Excellent, outstanding, this would be a book if I put all the superlatives on here I wanted to. Williams and Damon are just terrific together.

I actually eventually saw this, however I never would've payed to see it.

I actually like this enough to buy it on DVD.

The Karate Kid Part II

The first one had it's charm. The should've left well enough alone

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

I know it's a goofy movie, but I was a kid when I saw it; so, I'm giving it a good mark for nostalgia.

Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead

An early movie attempt for Applegate since MWC and it wasn't half bad.

Minority Report

Cruise hasn't had much success with movies since Scientology, but this was an exception.

Gone With the Wind

I'm not a fan of romance movies and I don't care if you put them in the middle of a war.I know for it's time and everyone clamored over this movie, but I didn't really care for it.

Lord of War
Lord of War(2005)

Not one of Cages best but it was alright

Despicable Me

Another Pixar great. I loved the minions.

Going the Distance

I'm not a big fan of romance movies, but I actually liked this one. Drew was good but the funny stuff came from Justin Long and Christina Applegate.

Wrong Turn
Wrong Turn(2003)

Really bad Texas Chainsaw Massacre type of movie.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1

I know splitting the book was a money decision for the studio but I do think it'll be worth it. This movie really sticks to the book much better than David Yates did in the last two. I think this installment will set up for an outstanding final movie.

Wild Target
Wild Target(2010)

I really liked this movie even though British humor can sometime get by me. A lot of good chemistry between these actors.

The Trial
The Trial(2010)

Good acting for the most part. I think more development was needed for the characters the trial was for but instead most of the development was on the trial lawyer. The pace of the movie was fine except it seemed as if they tried to tie up too many loose ends neatly at the end; which made it seem rushed.

Knight & Day
Knight & Day(2010)

I love Cameron Diaz. But I don't think anything was going to save this movie.

Shrek Forever After

Not the best of the series but still a lot of fun. I am sorry this is the last one but I do believe the studio is right and time to move on.

Great performances. The story will have you thinking. Samuel L. Jackson at his best.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

This movie is just plain fun. I liked the FX, I like the story, I like the homage to the scene in Fantasia this movie is based on. I like the characters good and bad. The juvenile romance I could have done without. All in all, I think it's worth seeing.

this movie just knocks you on your but with the story. This is one you'll have to see a few times to get all the twist and turns in the plot

Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3(2010)

This was an outstanding movie. Really brings me back to my childhood. Pixar is the genius of the CGI film.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Not the biggest fan of musicals. (The Wizard of Oz, Westside Story, and The Sound of Music being the exceptions). However Depp was his usually quirky self and I didn't even know he could carry a tune. So all in all I would say it's worth seeing.

The Expendables

Things I liked were the action, the effects and the stunts. I was disappointed that Willis didn't have a bigger part although I understood why Schwartzenegger couldn't be more involved. It had all the right ingredients for this type of movie. Just don't expect it to win any Oscars. Sylvester Stallone is still the worst actor outside of maybe Paris Hilton.

How to Train Your Dragon

I definitely missed-out not seeing this in 3D. However this is a great movie, good story, and it has a nice pace with good humor.

Repo Men
Repo Men(2010)

Good action if not a cynical movie. Whitaker had some good moves in this. Talk about a license to kill!

Robin Hood
Robin Hood(2010)

Definitely not the cornball storytelling that you get with most Robin Hood movies. I like that it had more historic relevance. Action was great.

Meet Joe Black

Hopkins and Pitt did a much better job together than that garbage "Legends of the Fall"

Give me the classic Dickens story.

Deep Impact
Deep Impact(1998)

Not much to rave about. Even Morgan Freeman couldn't lift this up.

True Romance
True Romance(1993)

The scene between Hopper and Walken is a must see.

I had major nightmares after seeing it for the first time. I was only seven years old at the time.

Rambo: First Blood Part II

They need to leave well enough alone. First one was good. Everything that followed was crap.

As Good as It Gets

This part was made for Nicholson.

Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys)

I liked Brad Pitts character in this movie more that Willis'

National Lampoon's Van Wilder

Gross at times but yeah it was also pretty funny

some talent just starting off.

The Flintstones

Big fan of the original cartoon, not of the movie

Pacino at his best. On my list of must see movies.

The Talented Mr. Ripley

Probably one of the strangest characters Damon has ever played

It was a good movie but I was hoping for more between De Niro and Pacino.

The Running Man

Not bad for when it was made.

Affleck started going downhill with garbage like this.

Lost in Space

There's a reason none of the sequels were ever made. It was just way too cartoonish.

Legends of the Fall

I really hated this movie. With all the talent in this movie, I don't know how it laid such a huge egg.

The Cell
The Cell(2000)

Really strange movie.

Collateral Damage

Really unbelievable storyline.

The Ninth Gate

This is not one of Depp's best efforts but it was interesting at times

The Beach
The Beach(2000)

really slow going movie. dumb concept. This is one the reasons why I didn't like DiCaprio for a long time.

Get Him to the Greek

Yeah! It's "pull my finger" type of humor but it has it's moments

This movie was done before, it's no better and it's no worse. It was interesting to me because it's the first Olympics I actually saw that I can remember.

This is Shindler's List meets Lord of the Flies. It has some good moments and it does make you think. It's worth seeing just don't pay theater prices.

I guess the question is; is this guy crazy or can he really talk to dead people? Same genre as Sixth Sense but not as well done.

Gyllenhaal did some serious acting in this one.

Cats & Dogs
Cats & Dogs(2001)

I had fun watching this movie.

Three Kings
Three Kings(1999)

I've seen better war movies

They should have stopped after the second one.

The Skeleton Key

Movie had some good twists in it.

Jeepers Creepers

Weird but alright. Didn't quite understand the creature but maybe I wasn't supposed to.

The Matrix Revisited

First one was great. Can't say I liked any of the sequels

My Cousin Vinny

Great, funny, quality acting. Fred Gwynne played a great judge. You wouldn't know he was once Herman Munster. LOL

Jeepers Creepers 2

First one was adequate. This one sucked

Falling Down
Falling Down(1993)

Talk about having a bad day

Bedtime Stories

Something for the kids.

28 Weeks Later...

Rather strange movie, don't know whether it's a horror movie or a thriller.

The Man in the Iron Mask

DiCaprio was rather lame but the others were fine. Classic story, good action.

The Untouchables

With Connery and De Niro in it, I expected more.

Gave me the creeps when I first saw it.

Anything with Pauly Shore is a total waste of money.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Considered the best of the Star Trek movies with the original cast. I would agree.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Supposedly based on an actual story. Toss up on weather to recommend it.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

Freeman is always outstanding in anything. Action was good. Costner would have been better off not trying his lame Brit. accent.

Travolta was good in this one

I didn't care for it

Monty Python's Life of Brian

Hysterical Python movie, but you won't go to heaven if you watch this one.

The Godfather, Part III

Completely ruined the Godfather story.

The Pelican Brief

Good thriller. I enjoy John Grisham stories

I like superhero movies but this one was not very good at all

Taxi Driver
Taxi Driver(1976)

Bad-ass De Niro movie.

Totally unbelievable story.

Board game turned into a movie. Kind of stupid.

The Thing
The Thing(1982)

Eh! not the best Capenter movie I ever saw.

Dead Poets Society

If you like Robin Williams then you'll like this movie

Hollow Man
Hollow Man(2000)

Good story. Bacon plays a decent mad scientist.

Dick Tracy
Dick Tracy(1990)

Never sat all the way through it

Foster-Hopkins combo is what made the first one great. This one fell flat for me.

Pitch Black
Pitch Black(2000)

Definitely a decent rental, if you are a sci-fi fan.

The Amityville Horror

Not nearly as scary as the book.

True Lies
True Lies(1994)

Jamie Lee did a great job, Arnold wasn't bad either, Tom that is.

Super Size Me

If the goal was to get me to stop eating McDonald's, it worked.

Starship Troopers

Blood and guts comedy. I liked it.

It's the nerd in me but the whole butterfly effect had me captivated.

Night of the Living Dead

"They're coming to get you Barbara!!" This movie still gives me the creeps.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

Good cast, went a little out in left field for me. Didn't really scare me that much either. Perhaps vampires just can't do that for me anymore.

I'm a fan of Superhero movies but this one laid a huge egg.

The Karate Kid

Cornball but classic. Morita was great.

Never should have been remade.

The Abyss
The Abyss(1989)

"does anybody here think that was a Russian water tentacle?" best line in the movie. great effects.

Blade: Trinity

It didn't completely suck.

Final Destination 2

They should have stopped after the first one.

The Hunt for Red October

Really good. Connery was great. My favorite of the Jack Ryan stories.

The Lost Boys

Kieffer Sutherland took this movie from crappy to good and it has a great soundtrack.

Bicentennial Man

Robin Williams was fantastic in this movie half funny half serious with a really good story. I honestly didn't think I was going to like this but I was wrong.

The Exorcist
The Exorcist(1973)

In my opinion, the best horror movie ever. Had to sleep with the lights on for more than a month after seeing this one. I was 13 y/o when I saw it.

Along Came a Spider

Morgan Freeman can read the phone book and be great but the rest of this movie just didn't do it for me. Still giving it a decent mark though.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Hoskins should have won an award for this one. To play opposite animated characters for most of the movie and make it look real. Animation was top-notch as well.

Gangs of New York

I know many didn't like this one but I really did. Lewis had a great character in this one and DiCaprio was starting to impress me more.

A Knight's Tale

Very original, Ledger was good but I like Bettany's character even more

Excellent story, great acting, it really had me guessing what was going on.

Stephen King's It

Very good Stephen King adaptation. Tim Curry did a great job in this movie

The Omen
The Omen(1976)

Saw this in high school. Scarred the hell out of me. The kid just gave me the creeps

Gabriel Byrne had a good role in this movie but I don't think it was enough to carry it.

Air Force One

I honestly don't think this could ever happen for real. But it's an OK rental.

This was a ridiculously stupid scenario for a movie. Wahlberg used to pick much better movies to be in, lately its been a bust for him.

Gran Torino
Gran Torino(2009)

Clint does his usual bad-ass performance. I really liked his character in this movie. A definite good rental for Eastwood fans.

I really enjoyed this movie even though it was closer to a chick-flick than I would like.

U.S. Marshals

Obviously, not the best sequel.

A Few Good Men

I"m a big Alan Sorkin fan With Rob Riener directing. And of course there is my fellow Alumni, Jack Nicholson.

Seven Pounds
Seven Pounds(2008)

OK, I admit I don't like chick-flicks, that's just me, but I saw this movie thinking it was about something else. I have to admit I did like the story, it gave me something to think about. I still haven't changed my mind about chick-flicks though. I think a root canal would be more enjoyable.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Admitting that I'm not a fan of Videogames made into movies, I really did enjoy this movie. It had a lot of action, the stunts were well choreographed and the story was good for this style of movie. My only complaint is the stupid British accents, reminds me of Kevin Costner and his lame attempt at it in Robin Hood.

As someone in the restaurant business, I could really relate to this movie. Yes it's rude, crude and outrageous but if you ever worked in a restaurant you know just how close to the mark that is.

The Ghost Writer

Wasn't McGregor's best effort. The characters just weren't that interesting.

This was someone's very bad drug induced piece of crap. We didn't even make it half way through the movie

Nowhere Boy
Nowhere Boy(2010)

Being a Beatles fan I really enjoyed the story. There was much about Lennon I didn't know until I saw this movie

I grew up watching the tv Superman. I had heard all the rumors. This movie didn't really open any doors for me.

Clash of the Titans

I've always been interested in Greek mythology, even as a kid, so I really enjoyed the story. I'm not usually into remakes but this one was worth seeing and was better in the fx department than the first one.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I'm not a big foreign film fan. Even so, this movie was way too long. Felt like the editor didn't want to leave anything on the cutting-room floor, so tried to splice everything filmed into the movie.

The Crazies
The Crazies(2010)

I was right not to see this in the theaters. Very low budget and it shows. A slightly better movie of this nature is titled "Impulse" with Meg Tilly and Tim Matheson.

From Paris with Love

Just goes to show me, I should never judge a movie by it's title. Completely outstanding action scenes. Travolta is a total bad-ass in this one. Look for his homage to "Pulp Fiction" in this one.

Judgment at Nuremberg

I just recently saw this movie on TCM. I can't believe I've never seen it before.I'm marking this as one of my favorite courtroom dramas. So many great actors and great performances to even begin to summarize.

12 Angry Men (Twelve Angry Men)

This is in my top 10 list for dramas. Genius in it's simplicity yet one of the most thought provoking movies I've ever seen. Many other shows and movies have tried to copy it, with no success.

Road to Perdition

Tom Hank, Jude Law and Paul Newman, with all this talent I really thought this was going to be much better.

REALLY?? Someone thought this was a serious attempt at a movie? Good thing Sci-Fi 3000 is no longer on the air, this would be perfect for them to parody.

Mystic River
Mystic River(2003)

Clint Eastwood really did a great job with this movie. The ending shocked the hell out of me.

Shutter Island

Scorsese is a fantastic director. This was a good movie for the most part. However, not to pat myself on the back, I caught on to the plot early on. Reminded me of another movie with Johnny Depp, Rear Window.

Green Zone
Green Zone(2010)

Really great movie about the Iraq war. Great action with really fine acting. Republicans are going to hate it though. Based on the search for WMDs or the lack thereof.

L.A. Confidential

I really enjoyed this movie. Many great characters. Kevin Spacey at his best.

Edge of Darkness

Not one of Mel's best but it does have a few good twists to it. A bit of a bizarre kind of thrillier

Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2(2010)

I thought the first one was good. Outstanding action. All the characters were great. Decent story. Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow was fantastic. She had some really great moves in her fight scenes. Best thing I can say is go and see it in the theater before it goes to DVD, you don't want to wait that long.

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked)

Great Soundtrack. Great quirky characters. Many funny spots and a lot of fun. You know you are getting old when your childhood is considered a topic of history.

Strange twist to a vampire movie. A bit creepy but an OK DVD rental

The Lovely Bones

OK! this was someone's major acid trip. Nothing about this movie was either interesting or unexpected.

I'm glad I didn't waste my money seeing this in the theater. Action was lame. Story even more lame.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

As a kid, I loved to read Jules Verne. This movie was really, really bad. Acting was abysmal, the action looked right out of a Warner Bros. Cartoon. Even the special effects were amateurish in today's standards. I wouldn't bother unless I really had nothing at all better to do.

Sherlock Holmes

OK! I'm going to publicly eat my words. I didn't think Robert Downey Jr. could play Iron Man, I was wrong. I didn't think he could play Sherlock Holmes, again I was wrong. The guy is an acting genius. Great action, with a quick wit and great story. Yes I'm ready to take my medicine. LOL

The Hurt Locker

Seen several movies now on the Iraq war. It was good but not up to all the hype. Just goes to show that the Academy Awards is really just politics. This won best picture and director just because they wanted to give it to the first woman director.

Very compelling movie. What would I do in that situation?

Where the Wild Things Are

This is one of the first books I ever read by myself. So I have a childhood love of the story which might color my judgement

Couples Retreat

I saw it anyway. It had some moments. My favorite line was "some encouragement for you"

another great job by Morgan Freeman. I usually don't get into sports movies but I've never seen rugby so that made it interesting too.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

This was supposed to be in the Harry Potter genre. I think it fell a bit flat. Although I did enjoy Uma Thurman as Medusa.

Not a bad movie. Someone should really mention to movie producers that when they put a fairly famous actor in a small role in the movie, chances are he/she is going to be the villain.

The Others
The Others(2001)

I liked this movie even though it was a rip-off of the Sixth Sense.

Why was Mathew McConaughey in this movie?

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

The action was fine but the story fell flat.

Space Jam
Space Jam(1996)

The animation was great, I can see why they haven't asked Michael Jordan to do any other movies though.

Lara Croft - Tomb Raider

I hate video games turned into movies

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

I know everyone seemed to love this movie, but it did nothing for me. Sorry!

Mars Attacks!

I laughed a lot in this movie

Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye(2008)

Billy Bob Thornton really had the best lines in this movie.

great early tech effects.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I never understood what anyone saw in this movie.

Hysterical, the Baby-Ruth bar in the pool scene had me in stiches

Great fire effects. Good Ron Howard movie,

Me, Myself & Irene

I know some people really liked this one. It didn't do anything for me.

Fantastic, Phenomenal, I can't wait to own this one on DVD A must see in IMAX 3D. Think of a Sci-Fi version of"Dances With Wolves" but with much better special effects.

Movie has plenty of great special effects, but the plot situations can border on the ridiculous. However the effects should be seen at least once on the big screen.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

I was fairly disappointed. I thought Travolta and Washington would have been better. Good for a cheap movie rental night.

The Bodyguard

Very lame movie. Have never seen it all the way through

Great work by Tom Hanks. Early work and show how this guy could win two Academy Awards

Pay It Forward

Saw this on TV. Great idea. The girls will like this one.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

What can one say. Must see Jack movie.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I laughed my ass off, the first time I saw this movie.

Great movie. Very active. Dennis Hopper made a great villain in this movie.

The Breakfast Club

Really classic teen flick. The Brat pack in their better days.

Jurassic Park III

I wish they would make one that truly show what these animals would be like. Definitely not up to the first one

Charlie's Angels

Just didn't do anything for me.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Yes it has action that's about as much as I can say about this one

District 9
District 9(2009)

Very good movie, I dare say you will not know any of the actors in this one.

I guess I expected more because Samuel L Jackson was in the movie. The special effects were OK but the storyline fell really flat. I think Jamie Bell had the best character in the whole movie.

The Forbidden Kingdom

Fight scenes between Li and Chan were great. The storyline was stupid. I still enjoyed it for what it was.

The Dark Knight

Best Batman ever. I didn't think anyone could do the Joker better than Jack Nicholson. I was wrong. Keith Ledger was outrageous. He definitely deserved an Oscar for that performance.

It has it's moments. The Will Smith sense of humor is there. But the movie drags at too many points.

Night at the Museum

Really good for a Ben Stiller Movie

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

OK, I know it was a 2 1/2 hour movie but there was much more to this book. That being said, It's definitely a must see in the theater.

Lethal Weapon 4

Not everyone liked this one but I did.

Young Frankenstein

The better of the Mel Brooks movies

Great movie, sequels were lame

Sleepy Hollow

Great quirky characters in this one.

The Butterfly Effect

Good suspense movie, make sure to see the alternate ending

Remember the Titans

not really into sports movies but this one was good base on a true story. The soundtrack was a plus as well

The Departed
The Departed(2006)

Jack Nicholson was at his best in this one

Coyote Ugly
Coyote Ugly(2000)

being a bartender made me like this movie a bit more.

The Haunting in Connecticut

Finally saw this one. Interesting movie. It pays homage to a few of the classic horror movies although I don't know if they intended it. LOL I recommend it but just don't spend too much money on seeing it.

Angels & Demons

Many twists, very good acting especially Tom Hanks. Although I still like the first one better, I think this is definitely a good second installment. If you liked the first one, you will definitely like this one

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Not as good as the first. Many of the interesting characters of the first either make no appearance at all or limited cameos. I didn't find the prince to be all that compelling a character either considering the title has his name in it.

This could have been so much better if they put more into the storyline

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

There were a lot of funny moments in this movie, plus the action is why I rated it so high. Don't expect to see any Academy Awards for acting for this one though.

X-Men Origins - Wolverine

I was impressed. It was very active. But like all Marvel Movies don't expect the characters to be developed as they were in the comics

Star Trek
Star Trek(2009)

Movie was great, action was great. For Trek fans all I can say is expect this to take you to a new dimension.

Fast & Furious

Well a buddy talked me into going to the theater to see this one and I did enjoy it

Race to Witch Mountain

It had some good graphics, Good as a family show

Speaking as someone who has never read the graphic novel, I did find this movie very graphic. The fight scenes were intense and it did have a very dark look to it. I didn't understand however why Dr. Manhattan was naked throughout most of the movie. Kid definitely can't go see this one. Definitely too adult for under 15 y/o

Good but I don[t think you need to see it in the theater. Wait for the DVD

American History X

I think Edward Nortons best performance to date

This could have been so much better

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

OK I have to see this every season or it just isn't Christmas

The Green Mile

This is just a great story. I was surprised it was a Steven King story

Cheaper by the Dozen

The old one was better and classic, this one was just plain stupid

The Mummy Returns

It was better than the first one a bit more active, but still a bit goofy

I think this is my Favorite of the three. Sean Connery makes this one outstanding

I have to admit to a soft spot for this movie. It was my first Disney movie I saw in the Theatre

Iron Man
Iron Man(2008)

I was very surprised, I didn't think Robert Downy Jr would be able to pull this off being he is so short, but I was wrong. He made an excellent Iron Man.

I was little when he was killed and I was really moved about how his death affected so many people.

How could Hale Berry do such a crappy movie???

Enemy of the State

It's gruesome but it shocked the hell out of me

AVP - Alien Vs. Predator

This had such potential and was a complete dud

Enemy at the Gates

From Hell(2001)

Outstanding story as dramas go.

The Mummy
The Mummy(1999)

it was an OK movie, didn't live up to the hype

If your looking for great acting then forget this one, but it was a great sci-fi movie

Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor(2001)

I only watch this movie from the attack on. Before that it is all garbage, after it's great. The producers messed up trying to make a love story out of a war drama. If he wanted to remake "From Here to Eternity" he should have told us.

Nicholson made this movie.

cool fight scenes and story line, volume I is better thought

Final Destination

Started out clever but became goofy at the end

the skits on SNL were good but they didn't need to make a movie about them.

it was good as Action movies go, shouldn't have done sequels on them, especially if they couldn't get Vin Diesel to star in them

American Pie 2

The first one was sooo much better
