It's got absurd humor and ridiculous gore. Which is exactly what's expected with this franchise. If you're already a fan of Green's Hatchet series, this'll give you what you want. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new series of sequels.
Yet another fine Amicus anthology. The overall storytelling structure of our stories taking place within the titular asylum provides a great framework and a satisfying conclusion. It's not as strong as Tales from the Crypt, but it's quite good.
A very worthy sequel. It builds upon and respects the legacy of the original, while blazing new ground. Gosling is superb as our new hero and Ford makes a welcome return. There are very deep themes being explored, and the movie expects a you to be smart enough to find your own answers. The visuals are stunning. All in all, this is science fiction at its best.
This one has a lot going for it. There's beautiful scenery, credible performances and some very chilling moments involving a blowtorch. But it's just not enough. The plot is preposterous. Even for a horror flick. Another issue is that there just aren't enough scares in the majority of the film. It's not terrible. But this is a Hammer film. I expect more from it.
