Considering this film is about a nanny who is employed to babysit an 8-year old doll, who the parents treat as human, it’s actually quite good! You’re led to believe it’s just another far fetched ghost story where CGI enables no end of weird and wonderful hallucinations once the doll is believed to be possessed, but what materialises is actually a very clever and innovative twist.
It’s quite sad to think that a series that began just before I was born has finally closed its doors for the final time - At least I hope it’s the final time, as I wouldn’t want such a legendary franchise to start losing any creditability. You feel with a movie like this that critics are just waiting for something, or anything to go wrong, but I felt it ended the saga positively, and emotionally, with several references and cameos from iconic characters from the past. It was a fitting ending and tribute to what has to be the most infamous film series of all time.
