A wonderful classical version of Dicken's tale; and who could do a better Scrooge than Patrick Stewart? It contained all that I remember from the novel itself, with a few nice additions and ways to also get the authors discussions into the screen without a narrator.
Over-eroticised as it is, this movie is actually quite realistic in what magical effects are shown - mostly things that could relatively easy be done with telepathic hypnotism/suggestions.
A wonderful movie, and quite realistic too, according to my view of the afterlife. Sure, some hollywood excitement-glitches occur, but it's still a really good movie.
Without saying too much, I must say that Max von Sydow is really good in the role as guide in the afterlife on the travels to hell.....
