Unique film noir from director Nicholas Ray, with psychologically complex characters and innovative camerawork and location photography. It's awkwardly plotted and awkwardly paced, but still definitely worth seeking out for film noir fans. Excellent score by Bernard Herrmann.
Masterfully crafted medieval drama from Poland - loosely based on Aldous Huxley's 'The Devils of Loudun' - tells an engrossing, thought-provoking story through powerful imagery. Superb performances and novel camerawork and cinematography make this a near-masterpiece. Its major flaw is its slow pacing - with some static shots that linger endlessly beyond having served their purpose. Despite its flaws, it is an unforgettable film.
Energetic cult mad scientist movie is good cheesy fun. The cheap production values and special effects garnish over the top performances by the likes of Bruce Dern, Casey Kasem, and Berry Kroeger. Not a great movie by any means, but solid entertainment for B-movie fans.
