I may lose geek cred for saying this, but while "Jurassic Park" is good, it's never been one of my favorite blockbusters in the way "Ghostbusters" or "Back to the Future" are. The has a spectacular set-piece with the big reveal of the t-rex, but other than that the movie simply isn't as good as the book. It's good, but not what I'd call great.
So that may explain why after an initial viewing I feel that "Jurassic World" is not only a great sequel but could possibly be the best installment in the franchise. Sure the characters are paper-thin and the story is fairly predictable, but doggone it, if this one isn't having a good time getting us there.
