I read a mediocre review so was prepared to underwhelmed. Don't believe everything you read.
An amazingly shot and visceral experience. Viewed on the IMAX screen this was all-encompassing and overwhelming; the scale of the vision and the layers of sound made this very confronting film watching. Must see.
How can a movie about a young man raised by an activist mother in the Black Panthers and who personified this era be so unengaging. What starts as a potentially great film about politics and resistance turns into a (very) long, and very disappointing film. Why turning the stories of iconic rap and hip hop artists into great films is such a challenge is the question that remains unanswered. Watch Hip Hop Evolution instead.
Jim Jarmusch serves up love 'em or hate 'em films; some you love and some you don't. Pity about this one which was too much (or not enough).
This is one of the worst films I have not seen. The opening credits went forever ... so long I think I passed out.
