Creepy cheese, my favorite.
Tied (with ghost world) as my favorite film of 2001. (Don't believe the release date on flixster here. This actually came out in Hong Kong in 1991 and was briefly on theatre screens here in 1993, so says wikipedia.) When you see such fantastic logical action/gore on the screen you get mad at crappier so called action flicks for not doing their job. This Riki gives me an O face.
My mistake the first time I watched this was that I was trying to figure out why the priest hangs himself, for what reason does the father drill John Morghen's head, etc. This time I said to hell with it and just enjoyed it as a loosely connected series of people getting their brains pulled out of the back of their heads.
It would have been 4 stars if it had ended right after the movie's title was explained. But any movie with a giant flying stone head that vomits guns is gonna be above average for me.
"Your much too pretty to have your blood splattered on the wall by dirty hippies".
I think my rating might be different if I had watched any of Guy Maddin's stuff before I saw this.
