Intense, dark. Natalie Portman could draw us in and out of Nina's mind, dream or reality, through her portrayal of the girl's struggle in crossing the ultimate threshold; a threshold between good & evil, perfection & imperfection, sanity & insanity. A movie I would watch when I'm less worn-out if I have known the storyline beforehand, nevertheless, I was intrigued and drawn in by the movie effortlessly.
If this movie were to be a typical bio-pic it wouldn't have drawn me in so much to the extend that I started to dig out more about the singer that I know nothing about except for a few songs. I even started to like his drawling-style. Cate Blanchett is simply amazing.
