The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey

A very touching story based on the book by the same name. Definitely one to add to my Christmas movies.

Loved, Loved, Loved this movie. Probably the best movie that Disney has come out with in a long time that was not Pixar.

Bella (Beauty)

This movie had the potential to be 5 stars and it was a very good storyline, but it was hard to tell what was going on time wise. It definitely need a "5 years later" flash on the bottom. I was a little disappointed with the ending in that it was slightly vague. I would still definitely recommend.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

I am not crazy about fantasy films and was not expecting to really enjoy this movie but I did and have watched it a couple of times since. The acting may not have been the best (but it was pretty good), but the characters drew you in. A most enjoyable film.

Silent Night
Silent Night(2002)

This movies is a recent addition to my favorite Christmas movies. Such a great story of American & German soliders putting aside hostilities for Christmas Day.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

A classic! Much better than the newer version.

It's a Wonderful Life

A timeless movie about how one person can touch the lives so many others.

A Christmas Classic. We watch this every year. It my favorite movie with Jimmy Stewart.

A great movie.

Love's Unfolding Dream

Love Comes Softly was and is still my favorite, it is the closest to the books. Then they really strayed. While this is not like the books either it is closer than the other have been.

Bridge to Terabithia

I thought this was a good adaption to the book. Anna Sophia has the sparkle and personality that I envisioned in Leslie.

Nancy Drew, Reporter

While cute and clean and fun in its own way. This is not the Nancy & Ned of the books.

Very interesting movie about the life of Martin Luther. It probably could have gone a bit deeper, but still touching. My favorite scene is when he will not recant.

Sense and Sensibility

Great Great Miniseries, except for the first 2 minutes of the movie which is easily skipped.

Another well done mini serires based on a Elizabeth Gaskell's book (North & South, Wives & Daughters)

While definitely a B movie, it is one of the best Feature Films for Families that I have seen. It held my interest and gently tugged at my heart strings

One Night With the King

While it could be more Biblically accurate, I was drawn into the story and enjoyed.

A good adaption of Persuasion, it has its flaws, but was enjoyable.

Samantha: An American Girl Holiday

Another cute, feel good American Girl movie, this time starring Anna Sophia Robb (Because of Winn Dixie, Bridge to Terabithia) and Mia Farrow. I prefer "Felicity, An American Girl, but I still enjoyed this movie.

The Last Sin Eater

I appreciate the efford that Michael Landon Jr. has made in making wholesome family films, but I have been disappointed with the "Love comes Softly" series in that they have strayed far from the original story line of the books. This is not the case in "The Last Sin Eater". While the plot has been simplified it has stayed true to the book. I thought the actors did a good job and has that satisfied feeling when finished watching. Oh and it is not afraid to mention the name of "Jesus"

Love's Unending Legacy

Apart from the fact that it isn't anything like the book, it was a decent movie. A little contrived in some parts, but clean and sweet.

My Boy Jack
My Boy Jack(2007)

A Very touching story about Rudyard Kipling & his son Jack. I took off 1 1/2 stars for strong language, but that is only in a couple of scenes.

The Phantom of the Opera

Beautiful Costumes, Good acting, and Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous songs really make the movie! While not perfect we really enjoyed the movie.

Cheaper by the Dozen

A Wonderful, funny movie about the Gilbreths and their twelve children.

Her Majesty
Her Majesty(2001)

A sweet touching story about a New Zealand girl who has always wanted to meet Queen Elizabeth and writes and asks her to come visit her town. One day she finds out that the Queen is coming, but her friendship with an outcast Aboriginal could prevent her from meeting the queen.

Mansfield Park

I think the acting and the scenery in this movie were lovely; however, I was disappointed in the areas that strayed from the book such as the slavery issue. I was also disappointed in the unnecessary immodesty that was shown in certain scenes, giving its PG-13 rating.

Amazing Grace

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie based on the life of William Wilberforce.

The Gathering Storm

Excellent movie about Winston Churchill prior to WWII. Would have given it 5 stars if HBO hadn't felt the need to moon us!

Northanger Abbey

I thought this would have been a great movie if Andrew Davies hadnt added some "sensuality" to it. The acting and overall script were very well done.

Horatio Hornblower: Duty

The last of the A&E Hornblower series and up to par with the rest of them. A shame that A&E didnt continue with this series.

Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front

Based on the popular American Girl books, this is a cute story about a girl named Molly and what it was like from a child in America during WWII.

Though None Go with Me

A sweet movie about a woman' commitment to God no matter what!

Under the Greenwood Tree

A nice light romance by the usual depressing Thomas Hardy

Nicholas Nickleby

The acting and script of this film was to me worth 5 stars, unfortunately certain scenes added cause me to take away a couple of stars.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

A funny musical about how seven brothers unethical way of getting brides!

Rear Window
Rear Window(1954)

One of Hitchcock's best films!

Toy Story 2
Toy Story 2(1999)

Unusual for a sequel, but I liked Toy Story 2 better than the first one! Both are classics.

The Lion King

Along with Nemo, my favorite animated Disney film.

Cold Turkey
Cold Turkey(1971)

The story of what happens when a multi million dollar tobacco company challenge a town of heavy smokers to give up smoking for 30 days.

Life Is Beautiful (La Vita bella)

A sad but beautiful story that takes place during WWII

Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre

A nice adaption of the Jane Eyre Story.

Stalag 17
Stalag 17(1953)

A interesting & funny look at life as a prisoner of war.

Jesus (The Jesus Film)

One of the best Jesus movies I have seen and the most biblically accurate. The story line is taken directly from the book of Luke.

Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter's End

The third in the Sarah Plain & Tall Trilogy and my least favorite, but still a very good movie!

Captains Courageous

A great story about a spoiled rich boy who learns the value of hard work! Based on the book by Rudyard Kipling.

While You Were Sleeping

A light, funny comedy about a girl who plans to marry one brother and falls in love with the other.

Meet Me In St. Louis

A fun musical with Judy Garland and little Margaret O'Brien

The Shawshank Redemption

This is probably one of the few "R" movies that I would give four & 1/2 stars to. An excellent movie. It is set in a prison so their is some profanity.

A classic story of the Christ, it is worth watching just for the chariot race alone!

Chicken Run
Chicken Run(2000)

A funny movie from the makers of Wallace & Grommit about chickens who keep trying to excape. Having chickens myself, I find it hysterical.

Fiddler on the Roof

An excellent movie/musical about the breakdown of traditions. The music is wonderful!

The Adventures of Milo and Otis

A cute story about a cat and a dog who are friends who get lost together and try to find their way back home.

A very good movie about Esther from the Bible. I prefer it to "One Night with the King"

Prince and the Pauper

A cute adaption of the book by Mark Twain.

Daniel Deronda

This is another of those movies that I had to watch twice to truly enjoy it, but I did enjoy it the second time through.

Facing the Giants

A wonderful story about a football coach whose faith in God changes his entire life.

To Kill A Mockingbird

A great adaption of the classic. Gregory Peck is perfect as Atticus, and Robert Duval makes his first appearance as an actor at the end of this movie.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

The first time I saw this movie I had mixed feelings about it because it wasnt as close to the book as I thought it could be, but it stands alone on its own merits and ever since the second time I was truly able to sit back and enjoy it.

Gods and Generals

I am not one for war movies, but was quite impressed with the accuracy of the times that this film had. Kudos to Ted Turner.

An excellent sequel!

Sarah, Plain and Tall

Glenn Close is quite a versitile actor. A sweet and heartwarming movie.

Little Women
Little Women(1994)

A very enjoyable movie!

A beautiful and true adaption to Jane Austen's book.

Horatio Hornblower: The Duel (Hornblower: The Even Chance)

Based on the books by C. S. Forrester, Hornblower: The Even Chance aka Hornblower: The Duel is the first of eight movies put out by A&E. A very well done drama about the British navy during the early 1800's.

Pride and Prejudice

This was my first introduction to Jane Austen when I was a teenager. One of my favorite oldies.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

A great adaption of Roald Dahl's book. While Willie Wonka was not quite the character described in the book, I did enjoy Johnny Depp's version of him, especially with the keys during the Veronica & the Squirrels scene. I found this movie to be a great improvement over "Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory". I believe this one to be much truer to the book.

Miss Potter
Miss Potter(2007)

A charming story based on the life of Beatrix Potter.

Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo(2003)

Probably my favorite Disney Movie of all time.

Love Comes Softly

While not quite like the book by Janette Oke, this movie is a sweet story about a bride who comes west only to become a widow and then wife of a man she hardly knows. I really enjoyed this film.

Joe Dirt
Joe Dirt(2001)

I never finished watching it, but it had some funny scenes in it.

Jane Austen's 'Emma'

A well done adaption of Jane Austen's Emma and thoroughly enjoyable. Although I prefer the Gwyneth Paltrow version, this one is still very good.

David Copperfield

Before he became famous as "Harry Potter", Daniel Radcliffe plays an adorable young David Copperfield. Along with Maggie Smith and some other great actors David Copperfield jumped from the pages of Charles Dicken's book and came to life. I thoroughly enjoyed Masterpiece Theatre's adaption of "David Copperfield"

Felicity: An American Girl Adventure

I was actually very pleased with the movie because I had my misgiving about it and the books because of the one "Meet Felicity" book I read that had a situation where "the ends justified the means".

I really enjoyed the movie because it showed Felicity going from a strong headed child to becoming an obedient, responsible young lady.

Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story

I was disappointed with this sequel of the Anne of Green Gables series. Kevin Sullivan took the well loved characters and put them into his own story, its a shame because there was lots of material left in the L M Montgomery books to continue on with Anne and Gilbert.

Anne of Green Gables - The Sequel (Anne of Avonlea)

A very well done sequel, as good as the first!

Anne of Green Gables

Very well acted, beautiful costumes and set, good script. A good clean, feel good movie!

The Frisco Kid

I vaguely remember watching this on TV as a teenager. I remember it being funny, but I think it had some profanity in it also.

I really wanted to like this movie, but found it very difficult to get into.

A masterpiece by Masterpiece Theatre. A sweet story about an orphan who worms her way into the heart of a town and her aunt. Georgina Terry plays the title role as the loveable Pollyanna who bring sunshine to everyone's life by having them participating in her "Glad game". Great acting, scenery, script and storyline. Nothing objectionable.....hard to say about most movies.

Pride and Prejudice

This along with North & Southand Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite movies/miniseries of all time. I love the acting, the scenery and the script is very close to the book as any movie I have seen.

Sense and Sensibility

This is a great adaption of Jane Austen's novel. While there are only a few lines from the actual book, I think Emma Thompson did a great job of catching the atmosphere of the book in the movie.

Pride and Prejudice

A nice light version of P&P. It does have it's flaws. I really like Keira Knightly as Elizabeth and Matthew MacFadyen as Mr. Darcy, but prefer the 1995 A&E miniseries, but this works as a quick fix.

North & South

I loved this movie. It is in competition for first place with Pride & Prejudice as my all time favorite movie/miniseries.

A very nice adaption of Jane Austen's Emma. The acting is superb. If they had developed Frank Churchill's character better as in the A&E version....this would have been perfect.
