Bootlegging in its true traditional meaning, girls, guns and a lot of violence. I would say better than some of the critics would have you believe. Funny at times and hilarious with the head of the family jsut grunting his life forward. Who needs words.......
This made me incredibly sad. I did not follow Amy Winehouse, I only knew a few of her songs. I knew she had a marvelous voice and that she died of drugs and alcohol. This documentary confirmed all that and more. Talented people are mostly sensitive and fragile and successful people are always followed, manipulated, used and abused by industries, human sharks, money greed relatives, publicity and pretty much by anyone who has the ability to do so. And given the change they will. Sad. Such a waste. Such a sad end.
A super cute little film about female emancipation and silent wisdom of other cultures. Patricia Clarkson is a huge favourite of mine, she is at her best in little transformative stories like this one. Plus Ben Kingsley. With an Indian accent and all.
I find it extremely important that stories like this are told. The world has changed but then again, has it? The same types of bigotry remain, they change targets but hardly ever disappear. At least not without brave people who fight them. Although the film could have been "faster", it was entertaining and actually gave a lot of food for thoughts. political, societal and pure entertainment wise. Brilliantly cast with, in addition to Bryan Cranston, especially with many of my favorites: Helen Mirren, John Goodman and Diane Lane.
Hmph. Glad I only paid 99 cents for this. Had potential and at times intrigue and kind of edging on horror, at least with sound effects but..... not really captivating at all.
