To elaborate on what I read elsewhere, I don't understand why the main character was even interested in the two men who contend for her love. There seems to be no particular reason she rushes into the arms of her older lover, or why she so easily forgives the young man who nearly strangles her the night before. There is no compelling reason for any of it, events just happen without any sort of development. I couldn't finish this, and left early out of boredom.
