Not a lot happens in this spooky, sometimes creepy tale from the 70s. It moves slowly, but effectively for the most part. Worth watching to see how they handle the genre.
Here's a film that starts out extremely interesting and full of energy and just goes downhill all the way to the end. The first half of the film has a unique balance of comedy, romance and scifi armageddon drama. But about halfway thru (following a fun chain restaurant sequence) it drops it's arty tightrope and goes full bore for the maudlin romance and essentially stops trying to make sense or cultivate the fact that the world is going downhill.
