Movie Ratings and Reviews

J. Edgar
J. Edgar(2011)

DiCaprio's performance in J. Edgar seemed less like his usual fine acting and more like Frank Abagnale Jr. pretending to be J. Edgar Hoover. I couldn't quite figure out whether the movie was boring or if J. Edgar Hoover was just that uninteresting.

Young Adult
Young Adult(2011)

I disliked Theron's character in Young Adult far more than Aileen in Monster.

There Will Be Blood

I don't like movies without endings. Why does every movie have to portray christians as crazy and/or evil? Other than those two things it was really good. The sound was incredible. More violent than I thought it would be. That's not bad, just unexpected. You will not like the main character. At all. You will, however, want to drink his milkshake.

Juno
Juno(2007)

Couldn't be better. Amazing.

The Namesake
The Namesake(2006)

Not as good as I thought it would be but my expectations may have been unrealistically high. Speaking of high, I only wanted to see this so bad because I loved Kal Penn so much in "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" which I had super-low expectations for and loved a whole lot. I'm so glad he got picked to stay on House. I like this but I'm only giving it 3 and a half stars because it just didn't evoke any emotion in me. I'm a sucker for father/son movies and this just didn't tug (at all) on my heart strings.

The Lives of Others

By all means, see this movie! Now!

Sicko
Sicko(2007)

Moore's best. You'll cry. You'll curse your government. You'll wish you were French.

Live Free or Die Hard

Best since the first. Surprisingly good. Long, Willis, and Smith should all be proud of themselves. The writing is refreshingly good.

Beowulf
Beowulf(2007)
½

The phrase "brought the book to life" has never been more true. I can't imagine seeing this NOT in 3D. I could be picky and complain about the differences from the poem but they weren't as offensive as the butchering the Harry Potter books get on film.

Death Proof
Death Proof(2007)

Planet Terror (Grindhouse Presents: Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror)

Loved it at the cinema. Need the 2-DVD special edition with all the special features.

No-brainer. It was awesome.

8 Mile
8 Mile(2002)

Not bad, not bad at all.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

It was okay. Liv Tyler with pointed ears was the best part.

Saw it several times at the cinema.
