Movie Ratings and Reviews

Oz the Great and Powerful

visual cotton-candy meets snotty protagonist - meh :( [do not need a sequel]

I was very well entertained by this artsy and serious spy action drama. Great actors and a good plot (including nice locations) is always a plus. And the fights were amazing.

John Carter
John Carter(2012)

A good scifi / fantasy mix with great effects and a nice and simple story. The cast was enjoyable, too.

Die vierte Macht (The Fourth State)

A good political thriller about the freedom of the press without being preachy. Very good locations and the cast was also great.

Get Him to the Greek

This is one of the few films where the trailer is actually not that good as the movie. Very funny.

The Iron Lady

It's a film about a politician, but not really about history. So most of the time you get to see a touching drama about an old woman, who was once important and errant.

Quite disappointing and too artsy for my taste.

Lars and the Real Girl

A surprisingly good and lovely social drama with some hilarious moments.

The look and cast are fantastic, but overall it was just good and not overwhelming.

The Complete Metropolis

A very epic scifi classic.

The Artist
The Artist(2011)

Quite good, but almost a bit too nostalgic.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

It was exactly what I expected - a serious and complex spy drama (with little action). The cast is awesome, too.

Apart from extremely violent scenes, this film is a modern classic. Very good.

J. Edgar
J. Edgar(2011)

What a tragic and dark film about a remarkable person. Even if half of the story may be made up, it is still worth watching, although the film is not easy.

The Muppets
The Muppets(2011)

I honestly don't know why this film is so overrated. Maybe it was because of the German translation, but I had a hard time to like this film.

The Intouchables

Wow, I did not expect this film to be so good. Really remarkable social drama and comedy with good actors.

The Descendants

A good and realistic social drama.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I like this adaptation even better than the Swedish one.

Puss in Boots

Apart from the great animation, the film is quite mediocre and not so great as I would like it to be.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

A very nice action spy flick. Easy to enjoy.

New Year's Eve

A nice bunch of actors celebrates this day with a bit of drama and fun. Good film.

In Time
In Time(2011)

For a scifi fan this should be worth watching.

The film is simple, but effective. The cast is great.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

One star for the soundtrack and one star for the settings.

I quite enjoyed the mix of historical facts and fiction. A good film.

The Adventures of Tintin

The look of the film is brilliant, the plot however is mediocre at best, and the characters seem quite silly. I don't know if that was intended. I just expected more from Spielberg and Jackson.

One Day
One Day(2011)

I'd recommend the book here, on which the film is based. A lot had to be cut, so the adaptation is just good, whereas the book is great.

A very serious film about a global crisis featuring an amazing cast.

Margin Call
Margin Call(2011)

The film is quiet, but very realistic in terms of recent history. The cast is very good.

The Guard
The Guard(2011)

What a fantastic hard-boiled crime adventure - full of dark humour. Highly recommended.

Attack the Block

I think my expectations were too high. The film isn't bad, but a few more laughs would be helpful.

No Strings Attached

That film is okay, but not really great. If it wasn't for Natalie Portman I probably would not have watched it.

Battle: Los Angeles

What a stupid army commercial film. Stick with the trailers, because those were better than the actual movie, which is boring and too long.

Final Destination 5

What a plot twist in the end! Effects were nice, the death scenes were very bloody... but why did the dialogues have to be so dull? Overall it could have been better.

The Breakfast Club

OK, it is a cult classic. And you easily get why it was that important. It deals with serious teenager issues that seem timeless regarding the date of the film.

The Three Musketeers

If you liked the trailer, you should be happy with the film. A lot of effects and costumes and gorgeous settings - witty dialogues and a plot full of fights and explosions. A fun time adventure film.

Horrible Bosses

Another great comedy of 2011. Plot and cast are pretty good.

Cowboys & Aliens

What a waste of talent! It seemed like all the ingredients are there to have fun... but the result was not fun! The actors could not make up for such a terrible script.

Captain America: The First Avenger

This adaptation stays quite true to the source material. Effects and cast are great, but the 3D was not needed. And the end is very promising :-)

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

This is one of the best romantic comedies of 2011. I didn't even see the plot twist coming.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Promising start, good effects, nice cast, but bad ending.

Green Lantern

With all the cosmic buzz about the power of fear, an alien peace corp and ultimate rings as weapons, it's not easy to enjoy such a mediocre script that felt so unnecessarily dull. And please skip 3D treatment when it's not worth it.

This film is hilarious and Kristen Wiig gives her best. If you're looking for a light-hearted romantic comedy that serves many gags and features a great cast, that's your call.

Bad Teacher
Bad Teacher(2011)

Politically incorrect jokes and a main character that is more like a sympathic villain. It was ok for a good time, but do not expect much.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2

For a closing chapter it was okay, but after all the hype I expected more. Apart from that the cast was so convincing that they seemed to be exhausted from reprising their roles.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Great effects, a rich cast and a mediocre story packed with battles, fights and one or two gags. A good final chapter of the trilogy (though the ending could be better).

X-Men: First Class

There's so much greatness about this film. It even fits with the previous trilogy.

This is a great thriller with a good cast, exotic places, a few shockers and much suspense.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

It was okay, but effects alone don't make a good film (especially when it's too long). Next time they should invest more in a better script.

It delivers as a superhero film with nice CGI, but don't expect too much. The plot is kinda simple, as are the characters (apart from Loki).

This is what "Fanboys" should have been - a fine geek scifi comedy! I very much enjoyed the whole film.

The plot and the cast are good, the editing and cinematography are amazing. I was even surprised by the ending. Overall very entertaining.

Sucker Punch
Sucker Punch(2011)

Visually stunning fight scenes plus bullet time - that's one thing. But adding a mediocre drama story about girl power with different layers of reality - that's tricky.

Very very tragic, but so well made and inspiring. A film that makes you think.

Fair Game
Fair Game(2010)

Wow, this is a thriller that's not to be missed for fans of realistic and political approaches. The cast is amazing, too.

I Killed My Mother

A very intensive relationship is the central focus of this social drama. The plot was good, the acting as well. It's just very intense.

The Adjustment Bureau

OK, credit goes to the cast who pretty much did their best with a mediocre plot. But many flaws and a boring ending did the rest.

A Scanner Darkly

Sorry, but that just felt not cool. The effects were nice, but the plot was kinda too twisted to entertain.

The Kids Are All Right

The first half it was lots of fun to see the characters interact with each other, but then it turned a bit too dramatic. And the ending feels slightly rushed. Anyway,,, extraordinary social drama with some laughs.

Winter's Bone

There's a mystery that somehow gets solved in the end (like an episode of The X-Files). Most of the time interesting (thanks to a believable cast), but the characters could have been explained with more reason.

The Fighter
The Fighter(2010)

This social drama was better than I expected it to be. The acting was great and the story is sweeping, too.

127 Hours
127 Hours(2010)

A good film about a spectacular accident, but if it wasn't for James Franco's acting, the plot would have been pretty boring.

Waiting for Superman

Very informative and tragic at the same time. The shocking part is that it's about reality.

True Grit
True Grit(2010)

I'm not a fan of western films, but I really liked the rough scenery and the cold-blooded characters that made everything so believable. Once again the Coen brothers show that a good film can overcome genre types.

The King's Speech

Brilliant acting and a great plot - that's what is so good about the Oscar winner of 2011.

Nowhere Boy
Nowhere Boy(2010)

That one is a really good social drama about family values and the struggling of a young generation. Oh, and it's set at the age of the first rock'n roll bands.

If you liked the trailer you probably like the film. In its calm motion it is suspenseful and touching. And the effects at the beginning are breathtaking.

Tron Legacy
Tron Legacy(2010)

This is more a remake than a sequel - it features almost too many references to the original. That makes it un-original. The scenery is like mix of Matrix, Star Wars and Terminator. And I wish it would include more colors. Anyway... the major plus here is the score!

Easy A
Easy A(2010)

This film really could have been something special. But in the end it's tangled in typical American stereotypes and clichees. Bummer!

Black Swan
Black Swan(2010)

Yes, it is a good film with good actors. But I didn't really like any of the characters. The settings made me feel uncomfortable. And Aronofsky once again has a hand for creepy images!

Although there is little new in the story, the film features all the nostalgic elements of a Disney classic plus perfect animation.

The Green Hornet

If you have low expectations and just want to have a little fun at the movies, this one will do. But if you're a big fan of the original and like to see great 3D - then skip this film.

Wow, for a B-movie that one has a lot of plot. It's violent and sarcastic - and the cast is pretty fine.

A good thriller that easily can be spoiled. I liked the weather scenery. But the ending was disappointing to me.

I don't want know how many special effects they used for the women, but the film is more entertaining than expected (though the plot is too familiar) and the music is nice.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1

One of the better adaptations. Lots of effects, but also beautiful nature images. Familiar cast and some nice gags. Thrilling sequences as well. Entertaining.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

It's a film where you can't expect lots of action or thrills - but a story about people (in this case very privileged ones). The ending seems a bit odd, but I liked it.

One fine action movie with an awesome cast and a simple/good story.

Despicable Me

A nice kids movie.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

If it wasn't enough that it's a well done comic adaptation, it's also very awesome regarding story, creativity, editing and... cast, of course.

The Ugly Truth

Predictable, but with a very good cast. A nice and simple romantic comedy (with typical American clichees).

Starship Troopers

I never got to the ending of this flick, but the start is kind of promising. And it deals with some serious aspects of war in general.

Superman Returns

It really could have been better. Clark and Lois are really boring characters here. And the worst part is the dramatic ending after the climax.

Nice concept, very bad execution. I guess viewers must be very patient to find actual jokes in this film.

The Other Guys

If it wasn't so extremely dull at some points, it could have been more enjoyable. My recommendation: don't watch it sober.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

As a fantasy film it was okay, but partly creepy for young audiences. Eventually the CGI (eye candy) was worth the ticket.

The Social Network

It wasn't thriller elements or action scenes, but the actual plot what made this film entertaining (in case you're interested in some newer history). Also the acting/cast was really great.

The Losers
The Losers(2010)

Fans of simple action films with a good vibe should really check this one out. The cast is good and the camera work is pretty nice.

The American
The American(2010)

That film is truly a suspense thriller. Great cast, good story, beautiful settings. And don't forget the suspense which is really amazing here.

Resident Evil: Afterlife

I would rate it higher if there weren't a few bad cuts and this terrible ending. Apart from that the film is a nice mix of SciFi, Action and Horror - with even nicer 3D features.

Resident Evil: Extinction

This part has some really stupid flaws, but apart from that it feels consistent with overall story. And again a few CGI scenes felt wasted.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Though there are still some plot flaws this sequel really is worth watching (in case you could live with the first film). Sometimes it's even fun to wonder what movies they used as "inspiration". ^^

Resident Evil

The plot itself is interesting, the setting is also good, I even can't complain about the acting... it's just that some scenes seemed to have been badly cut (what makes you think of plot holes). And some CGI felt wasted.

Black Death
Black Death(2011)

That history flick was very well done (besides shaky camera work) - the story and the acting both were very good. Even if you usually don't watch that kind of films you might want to give this a try.

The Expendables

From the beginning this film is about looking cool doing violent things and throwing oneliners. Anyway... that and a bunch of big names wasn't really enough for me.

Without Jolie or nice Action Scenes this film would not have been watchable, because of a weak plot. And she looks older than she is (which is sad).

Micmacs (Micmacs à tire-larigot)

Very strange characters in a lovely crime comedy. The story is also very original.

The A-Team
The A-Team(2010)

Yes, the plot isn't flawless, but the film is still fun to watch. And the cast is very good. Even the bad guys are great. :-)

Wow. This is clearly one of the best horror comedies I've ever seen. The fun ride doesn't get boring. And it has... Bill Murray! :-)

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

OK, it's not so bad like "New Moon"... but still very mediocre and cheesy. The worst part of the film is the realization that practically nothing happens.

Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3(2010)

If you liked the previous tales of Woody and Buzz, then you simply can't go wrong with this fantastic all-ages tale about friendship and childhood dreams.

Definitely a must-see flick. The film is thrilling, entertaining... and it makes you think. The cast is also very good.

Dancer in the Dark

Very tragic film. Great cast. Many quiet moments. Strange music sequences. Much sadness.

This film had potential because of the simple setting. But unfortunately the plot was just mediocre or typical for this kind of movie. From the beginning you can be sure who will survive. And some CGI could have been done better.

That's a fun retro film with an all star cast that seems to have a good time. The music and dance sequences are also entertaining. And there even is a kind of social history layer. ^^

Planet 51
Planet 51(2009)

The concept is good, the animation is top notch, but the story is full of cliches and goofy one-dimensional characters which makes it little entertaining.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

It had a good start, but went down from there to a child friendly mediocre story with flat gags.

I'm not sure if I got the theme of the movie. To me it was just a strange story with odd characters. Overall it could have been more absorbing.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale

The story and characters are simple. And the main stars of the film are the dogs who are very convincing most of the time.

Sex and the City 2

The makers stay true to the concept which made the tv show a success. Fun time for fans.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

A fine popcorn flick without heavy depth. Humor, action, special effects, exotic settings... a good mix

The art direction and the score are both impressive, but cast and story could not convince me.

Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2(2010)

A good action block buster with lots of fanboy moments and an A-list cast. Comic readers should feel great. But otherwise it wasn't as ingenious as the first one.

A Single Man
A Single Man(2009)

This is a very tragic film about life and love and loss. The cast is authentic.

Cop Out
Cop Out(2010)

I didn't expect much and maybe that's the key. Some gags are very silly, but Bruce Willis' acting is great. The score is very 80s-like. And the film contains some violent scenes. Overall it was quite entertaining.

The Iron Giant

Even back then Brad Bird knew how to make a great movie for all ages. Plot and characters are fantastic. Also animation is heavily CGI enhanced.

Down With Love

Actually the film isn't so bad. It's a lovely homage to 60's Doris Day films, but with more naughty gags. Very enjoyable.

That movie is just pure fanboy fun (though it comes with violent scenes and deals with serious issues). And the cast is fantastic.

Same Same But Different

That's a good social drama with exotic settings and a great cast. And it's about love. Just the ending was very short.

Bridge to Terabithia

For a children's film this one gets pretty serious because of a major plot twist. But it also features positive elements and just a few clichés.

Evan Almighty

Just having seen the ending I feel sorry for the cast. At least they didn't waste good CGI on this pointless film!

Chicken Little

I guess I only managed watching this film because of the animation. Story and characters are not worth mentioning! So don't waste your time on it.

The Upside of Anger

I'm not sure if I was getting the plot, but I found it quite disappointing. Drama, drama, drama. But where was the upside? The cast may have been good, but the story was not.

Rabbit Without Ears 2 (Zweiohrküken)

OK, this one is not sooo bad. But still there are too many stereotypes and dull punchlines. And don't try to sum up the plot... the story resembles a rag rug of relationship issues.

Alice in Wonderland

Visually it's amazing, but the story is just okay. And I didn't like the mix of age-based fairytale and bestial violence.

Shutter Island

This a good psycho thriller with thrilling plot twists. Though DiCaprio wasn't the best choice here.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

The plot was so mediocre it almost hurts. Also the acting was inferior. The whole yearning was too much. Very disappointing.

Here you have a great comic adaptation without a big budget. It proves that the key elements are characterization and storyline. (and a good cast of course)

The Blind Side

That film is totally Sandra Bullock's film. Combined with a good plot and many sharp dialogues you get an extraordinary social drama with heart. It exceeded my expectations.

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire

It's easy to see why Oprah was a producer of this film. But anyhow it is a well crafted social drama with lots of extraordinary acting. The plot won't leave you cold!

The Men Who Stare at Goats

This one's just fun (even with serious issues like war). The cast knows how to make you laugh... often! The plot is very strange. But you have to watch it yourself.

The Hurt Locker

So much credit for a film with so little to tell. Was there even a plot? Though cast and cinematography are great, the whole thing feels more like a documentary or a snapshot about life in a war zone.

Crazy Heart
Crazy Heart(2009)

It reminded me of "The Wrestler" and I can understand that especially the actors and the songs stand out so much. The plot itself is not so original.

It's a good film about life and the way you look at it. And it also has some funny moments, though I wouldn't count it as a comedy.

A Serious Man

Like other movies by those directors this one's strange. At times you might wonder where's the point. But eventually cast and plot are enjoyable.

Paranormal Activity

This minimal horror flick about a couple hunting 'ghosts' is definitely worth watching. Some elements were really scary.

Jodhaa Akbar
Jodhaa Akbar(2008)

One word to describe this film: long. OK, there are epic scenes and excessive settings, but the plot feels very decompressed.

An Education
An Education(2009)

I'm still surprised how good the film is. Apart from an extraordinary cast the plot about love and life in the 1960s is fantastic. I say: highly recommended!

Dil Se..
Dil Se..(1998)

That's one of the more sophisticated Bollywood films dealing with serious social issues of India. It features a dramatic love story, exotic settings and only a few song parts. Unfortunately you'll probably notice the length of this movie. And some character moments are hard to understand.

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths

Comic fans should be pleased because this is non-stop action with many DC characters. And in case you like it, check out the "Earth 2" GN by Grant Morisson (the story the film is based on).

The Ghost Writer

This is a great political thriller. Also the settings are beautiful. Don't let anyone spoil you the ending! ^^

Law Abiding Citizen

A good action packed thriller, though partly violent. Great cast. The ending was a bit disappointing though.

About Schmidt

Apart from a great cast this drama features a fascinating story about people in times of a change in the family.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (A Couple Made by God) (A Match Made in Heaven)

A neat romantic comedy with spiritual elements and good music scenes. Camera work and settings are very good.

Valentine's Day

Put a whole bunch of stars in a mediocre story about love and you have a nice romantic comedy. Don't expect a deep emotional drama. It's just cute and nothing more.

Up in the Air

Wonderful mix of comedy and drama. Great script and fantastic cast.

I have mixed feelings about the film. Eventually this teen comedy is just ordinary (including many cliches). It was supposed to be about friendship, but in the end a party seems to be more important.

My One and Only

Wow... that's a great mix of drama and comedy. The cast did a great job. The plot about family and life in the 1950's is absorbing. What more do you need? ^^

Meet Bill
Meet Bill(2008)

The plot is kind of strange and definitely politically incorrect. But the cast is really good and there are several funny scenes which makes this film worth watching.

Groundhog Day

Superb film. An absorbing plot. A great cast. Fun, fun, fun. (and a bit love)

Confusing at the beginning, thrilling in the end. But somehow the characters ain't convincing. Therefor the settings are pretty good.

This gangster film is filled with crazy characters brought together by a strange and funny plot. Definitely worth watching.

Sherlock Holmes

It's probably not what most would expect of a Sherlock Holmes story, but that film is really entertaining.

500 Days of Summer

Definitely a must-see film regarding relationships and also love (even though it says it's not about love) ^^ - Awesome cast. Great camera work. Epic soundtrack.

The Wrestler
The Wrestler(2008)

This film surely contains brutality but it doesn't rely on it. The story is not just about fighting, instead it's an intensive drama with great actors.

This SciFi film is decent but better than several big budget productions. Thought provoking and thrilling story. BTW: If you like Sam Rockwell, you can't miss this.

It's Complicated

This is a light-hearted romantic comedy par excellence. Beautiful images, lots of gags, a great cast. Escapism at its best.

Super Size Me

Besides a few disgusting scenes this (pseudo?) documentary points to horrifying facts of reality regarding food industry and health.

The Mistress of Spices

This romantic fantasy film is acceptable, but mostly because of beautiful images and faces.

Family Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side

If you enjoyed "Blue Harvest" (Familiy Guy) then you just have to watch this one, too. It's very funny.

Family Guy - Blue Harvest

Simply brilliant. An amazing reimagination/parody. And there's even CGI. ^^

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Opulent fantasy movie. Good story with nice plot twists. A few scenes were a bit morbid though.

Mysterious Skin

Quite shocking drama film with extraordinary acting and some cynical punchlines.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

The film itself is well made but the script is mediocre. Some dialogues didn't make sense, a few stunts were needless and the end was disappointing.

Lions for Lambs

Screenplay. Actors. Terrific.

Burn After Reading

If you're looking for a strange kind of thriller/comedy-mix, go watch this one. It's got a crazy plot and great actors.

I would consider this a must-see-film because it's so original and unsually candid. Also the cast is fantastic.

The Holiday
The Holiday(2006)

It's a good romantic film with bonny actors, but eventually it's almost too happy.

The Girl Next Door

One of the better teen movies, though or maybe because it's not just a comedy as it also deals with serious issues.

The film features a fantastic production design, great camera shots, big cast and some good lines. Eventually it's about war and destruction with nice references to myths.

A good mix of SciFi and Fantasy, but besides massive GCI there is only little greatness to be found.

Black Hawk Down

Crap! Such a waste of time and talent. Such a good cast and such a dull movie about violence and military action. Was there even a script?

American Psycho

Ok... the film is quite good and features a great cast. But the ending is not satisfying!

The Boondock Saints

Reminded me a bit of Tarantino. Sharp dialogues, violent crimes and good actors. Strange story though ^^

28 Days
28 Days(2000)

Wow... that was a good movie about a life changing experience. And Sandra Bullock was great... one of her best films.

Eastern Promises

Violent story with great cast.

LOL (Laughing Out Loud)

The film could've also been called "Teenies in 2009" as it's actually the theme. This European product proves to be more realistic than typical American teen movies. And it's also funny and entertaining.

A typical disaster movie... with lots of clichés and stereotypical roles. But it features a thrilling beginning and stunning CGI.

Let's Make Money

Thought provoking and well made, but partly slow and eventually too long.

Quite quiet beginning, but then the film becomes a thriller. In the end it's more like a typical scifi space drama.

Arthur and the Invisibles (Arthur and the Minimoys)

Well, this film is ok. Dialogues were sometimes weak, but maybe that's better when watching it in English.

Pope Joan
Pope Joan(2009)

First: read the book! The film is quite true to the novel, but I was disappointed by the female leading role. And cheap sets let it feel more like a TV movie.

The Hangover
The Hangover(2009)

If you like the trailer then go watch that film. It's funny and good (with some minor flaws though).

Michael Jackson's This Is It

It's like a making of for a show that did not see the light of the day. Lots of creative ideas and timeless music. But the artist remains to be one big mystery.

Nights in Rodanthe

Now that is a kind of romantic drama I can live with. Beautiful nature in the background makes it even more enjoyable. Just the ending could have been more definite.

Heavenly Creatures

It's a drama. Starts interesting, has some odd twists and the film ends... dramatic (also a bit annoying).

The Gathering

In a way it's thrilling and interesting, but unfortunately the story becomes odd. And too many questions remain.

Femme Fatale
Femme Fatale(2002)

Well, there is beauty to be found in the scenery and the cast (looks expensive) - but in the end the plot is just weird.

The Thirteenth Floor

Thought-provoking thriller about reality with a strange plot (eventually).

Jackie Brown
Jackie Brown(1997)

Great conspiracy thriller with a complex plot and amazing actors.

For Roseanna
For Roseanna(1997)

Fanciful story with a good cast.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Definitely worth watching. Great thriller about crime and conspiracy. Awesome cast.

Once again Pixar created just pure magic... and fun. This is like a modern fairytale for children and adults as well. Lovely characters in a good story filled with funny and also moving moments.

Welcome to the Sticks

That comedy is definitely worth watching. Funny story with joyful characters.

Drag Me to Hell

A consistent and thrilling experience with some absurd twists and good actors.

The Green Butchers

Well, very strange.. but almost too weird and unfortunately partly boring.

Nerdcore :-P and good (especially the geek jokes)

17 Again
17 Again(2009)

Nice romantic comedy with good cast.

District 9
District 9(2009)

Wow... really good SciFi.

Julie & Julia

Lovely tale about two positive women who made it and are/were living their dream. Good cast also.

Melancholic drama about relationships with a very good cast. The plot could have been more fluent though.

Horst Schlämmer - Isch kandidiere!

Now that was a good comedy... partly over the top and partly more sarcastic than expected.

Lady in the Water

Well... suprisingly not as bad as expected. Partly thrilling although the story is just weird and weak.

The Good German

The retro look really shines. The cast was great... but the story is a bit confusing.

Inglourious Basterds

Overall good... but not really mind-blowing. And Christoph Waltz's character clearly steals the show from the cast.

Lovely mix of family and fantasy... a quirky film for children and adults.

Made of Honor

Direct and simple romantic love comedy with a few laughs and good looking actors... nothing more.

Little Women
Little Women(1994)

Now that is just sob stuff... with good actors though.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

I wasn't expecting so much SciFi... humor was as flat as most characters + weak story = noncredible. The effects were cool though.

Four Rooms
Four Rooms(1996)

Strange... partly funny and disturbing. Unfortunately some segments were better than others.

Little Miss Sunshine

Lovely film about family... with heart and some social aspects.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

One of the better Potter films... good pacing, awesome effects, some plot holes though.

Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider(2007)

Weak acting, weak story, nice effects... not sequel-worthy!

Amazing story about politics and showbiz. Great acting!

Away From Her

Dramatic film about losing and letting go. The screenplay is a little onesided.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (Ice Age 3)

The story might be a little weak but the characters shine (thanks to brilliant animation)... and it's very funny!

Shocking and certainly over the top at some points... but it also refers to social issues (in a bizarre way).

Keinohrhasen (Rabbit Without Ears)

There was potential... but it had to be dull and embarrassing.

Not so funny as I hoped... but the story was even worse.

Charlie Wilson's War

Great mix of historical facts, a thrilling story and extraordinary actors.

Repo! The Genetic Opera

It's different, good pacing, dark setting, strange vocals... generally good film

Lovely romantic comedy with good action... the humor could be a bit more witty though

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Well... that was loud and epic. A good sequel... but almost too much fighting metal.

Pixar does it again. A lovely tale for children and adults... and it's SciFi! ^^

Marley & Me
Marley & Me(2008)

I would recommend the book first... the movie falls out short. And unfortunately the cast is idealized in a Hollywood style. Whatever... the story is really good and moving.

The Dark Knight

How can anyone top that film?
Story, cast, settings, music... absolutely extraordinary! (especially for a comic based adaptation)

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2)

A sequel worth the wait! Amazing settings and good actors, stunning effects and... humor!

Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!
