I'm adding the Edgerton brothers to my list of filmmakers to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed this film all the way through. It had more twists and shocking moments than just about any movie in recent memory. The emotionally driven main characters demonstrate clearly the effects emotions such as guilt have on your reasoning and decision making skills as their seemingly simple plan to run away together spirals out of control.
The tie-in cameo from the short film, Spider, was also a great touch that had me laughing.
Can't wait to see what these guys put out next.
Thought this would be great, but I have to settle on just above average. There were aspects of this movie that were great. The performances of the actors, the display of emotions and development of the different characters as they respond to these different events in their lives, but other aspects of the film, and the story in particular, were lacking.
Absolutely beautiful film. The way the film transforms slowly from black & white; first bringing in some red hues and the slowly going back the same way it came as a way to highlight both the surroundings and emotions of the characters was both subtle and obvious, but mostly lent itself wonderfully to this film. Both youngsters did a great job of portraying their characters and made you really feel for their trials and share in their triumphs. he photography and cinematography here was beautiful. The character development was perfectly executed. Not a perfect film, but very sweet, endearing, and heart-wrenching all at the same time.
Review to come later... bu I will say for now, SEE THIS.
