Revolutionary Road
½

Alright, this was a loooong depressing movie. I bored throughout most of the movie. Kate and Leonardo as always, do fine acting, but I wanted to slit my wrists by the end. I thought it was a waste of time and good actors.

Say Anything...
½

Sweet classic 80's romance.

American Gangster
½

I really enjoyed this film. Washinton, is such a great actor. I can't imagine anyone else playing this part.

Something New

Okay, so the story and dialog were all pretty cheesy, but Simon Baker is so damn sexy and hot in this movie, I had to give it another star, because it kept my interest despite. I know, shallow reasons, but hey....the man be fly!

Bolt
Bolt(2008)

That hamster is so flipp'in hilarious! Very cute movie.

Into the Wild

"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
? Chris McCandless

Lars and the Real Girl

Quite unexpected, but fabulous! Gosling is great in this film.

Cry Freedom
Cry Freedom(1987)

Powerful movie.

Alfie
Alfie(2004)
½

A movie with a message about self absorption and selfish character...Don't take people for granted that care about you, they will eventually give up on you and one day you may be left with no one at all.

Beowulf
Beowulf(2007)
½

Cool animation. Not a movie for l children, or even pre-teens. It can get a little scary and graphic at times. It is worth seeing.

The Fountain
The Fountain(2006)

A beautiful etheric depiction of love and devotion. A deep, complex, and meaningful story.

Taxi to the Dark Side

Wow, this documentary was quite moving. It is incredible what us humans do to other human beings. It is well worth watching, but be prepared for some very disturbing images and truths.

Manhattan
Manhattan(1979)
½

Perfectly intellectual and funny!

Freedom Writers

This movie based on a true story was inspiring, but felt it was just shy of great. It's a movie that has been done before, teacher goes into an inner city school, changes the lives of all the kids and they are rescued out from the grips of the streets. Despite it's problems, not a bad movie and would still say it is worth renting. Just don't expect to be blown away.

Thumb Wars: The Phantom Cuticle
½

My son rented this movie, and I have to say, I was pretty damn amused! They have an entire series of spoofs on other movies. It's pretty funny! Older kids will get a kick out of it and laugh out loud the entire time, while adults catch on to the more subtle mature jokes in the dialog. Funny stuff!!

Griffin and Phoenix
½

A perfect love story and tear jerker. Not all the dialog was great, but still recommendable. It's meaningful and tender. Depicting a love and appreciation for life that we all ultimately desire. Well, at least I do anyway. Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all, I know, so cliche, but same general theme. That one great love in your life can change you forever and bring you forever closer to happiness and eternal contentment even after it is gone. Great soundtrack too!

Johnny Dangerously

One of the first comedies I fell in love with back in the 80's! However, I age myself saying so. Now my own kids love this! "Ya shouldn't hang me on a door, Johnny, my mother hung me on a door once... Once!"

My Kid Could Paint That
½

It's not that it wasn't an interesting story about this 4 year old girl that paints $25,000 abstract paintings, it really is facinating. However, I just really hated the exploitation of this little girl and the family. I just don't feel this was an ethical documentary to make. I don't want to give it more stars because I don't really support what the film maker was trying to do. Despite that he didn't even follow through, and a lot of people think he should have pushed harder for a truth. I feel it never should have even began in the first place. I found the whole thing in bad taste all for the sake of entertainment.

The Princess Bride

One of the funniest movies ever! How can you not love this movie! "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. " CLASSIC!!!

The Piano
The Piano(1993)

Amazing performance by Holly Hunter.

After Innocence

My heart goes out to these men. I think the worst insult is the government's refusal to acknowledge these men in the way they deserve. An impact so great on so many lives... "sorry" just doesn't seem like enough.

Funny Girl
Funny Girl(1968)
½

Streisand is funny and cute in this charming musical. I have never liked musicals all that much, and would prefer the same strory without all the singing, but it's a bitter sweet romantic comedy non the less. Not too bad if you like the classic broadway musical films.

Wristcutters: A Love Story

It's an odd love story set in the afterlife of people who committed suicide. There is a quarky, twisted, amusing quality to this film. I enjoyed it a lot. I have been reading that people are a little turned off by the subject matter, but it doesn't glorify suicide, if anything it shows a dark consequence to such an action and a loneliness.

Split: A Divided America
½

Kelly Nyks does a good job presenting American views on the partisan politics in this country. Nyks road trip across the country attempts to balance this discussion without leaning left or right and trying to take an honest look at the reality of this progressive divide. Great documentary.

The Philadelphia Story
½

Classic romantic comedy! The dynamic between Grant and Hepburn at it's finest. You can't help but adore Stewarts genuine charm.

The Savages
The Savages(2007)

I think this movie may only appeal to a particular audience, however, the attention to psychological detail is impressive. This film is a very true representation of the common family dynamic taking care of a parent with demensia.

The Women
The Women(2008)

Okay, I have no idea how the rest of the population, even women, could have found this entertaining at all!! It is getting an average of 4 stars??? OMG this was painful to watch. Not even by cheesy chick flick standards, this was a total flop! I walked out after an hour and 40 minutes of go'in nowhere! I hated it!!!!! I give 1/2 a star for Meg Ryans hair, and that's generous!

Elizabethtown

I don't care what anyone says, I love this movie!

The Point
The Point(1971)

I remember falling in love with this record first,as young as 3 years old, sitting on the floor looking at all the pictures and story line in the inside of the album cover. I played it over and over and over, my favorite song "Me and my Arrow" considering I was inseparable from my own dog at the time. Soon after, I saw the movie and the movie has since held a place in my memory, life, and heart as one of my all time favorite movies. As I gained maturity and insight into the deeper political meaning behind it's theme, it didn't surprise me that I inherently loved this classic animation straight out of the womb so to speak. I have to give it 5 stars for the nostalgic connection I have to this movie.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
½

Hard to get into it at first. All the singing is a bit hard to adjust to. Toward the second half I was more engaged into the plot. Only Depp, as usual, could pull off this twisted musical.

The Invasion
The Invasion(2007)

Interesting idea, but the movie was all over the place. Note terrible, just not great.

Chocolat
Chocolat(2000)

An absolutely yummy movie every time I watch it!

Once
Once(2007)

Just so simple and perfect of a movie! Loved it!

Into Great Silence

Soley for the beautiful footage. It's a wonderful insight into this world. But just as the title states, silent! This would not be for everyone. You need a good attention span to watch and appreciate it. For the true documentary lover only.

Juno
Juno(2007)
½

Ellen Page was amazing, I was really blown away. I adored this movie. One of a kind.

Lucky You
Lucky You(2007)

I thought this was terrible. The dialog and acting were so bad. Poker table scenes toward the end were okay, and I give one star for Eric Bana looking hot. Other than that, I'd advise against it.

My Life
My Life(1993)
½

This was a really moving story. Both Kidman and Keaton were really amazing in this film.

A Mighty Heart

I was impressed by Jolie's performance. I could only imagine how hard the experience of losing your husband could be, and I feel this movie captures not only the story itself, but both the strength and anguish Jolie's character (Mariane)endures in the final days of her missing husband. It gives tribute to the dangerous job of journalism and these two individuals that risk there lives to do what they do.

Surf's Up
Surf's Up(2007)
½

A unique idea writing this to be like a documentary. What a fun movie it was to watch! I think I enjoyed it more than my children did. Great modern vibe and soundtrack! This stands apart in the new generation of animated films,

Only You
Only You(1994)

Total chick flick! This is why I enjoyed it! LOL! Love, comedy, romance, destiny and fate, "soul mates" and your ever so perfect happily ever after that girls dream of from the time they were little girls. Younger Downey plays the 'too good to be true' perfect serendipitous partner. It was a cute typical 90's romantic comedy, not an academy award winning quality by any means, but enjoyable. Like I said, chick flick through and through. Got to love 'em!

The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
½

A cute movie with an adorable horse creature that the kids will fall in love with. Good family movie, the little one's will like it.

We Are Marshall
½

A good example of the undying human spirit in all of us! Emotionally moving in many ways.

The Station Agent

Sweet and simple movie. Good film.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

I know this is getting good ratings, but I found it annoying, I never watched it to the end, just FYI to those interested. However, I have a hard time getting into modern musicals, just not my thing, I support the statement, just hated the movie.

Cat Ballou
Cat Ballou(1965)

Classic entertainment!

Grande École
½

This was a decent film. I enjoy the inhibitions of the french with nudity and sex. At times I felt the characters were a little inconsistent, but there was plenty of visual stimulation to make up for that. If you are not comfortable with male gay sexual scenes then this is not the movie for you. However, I think it captures the complexity of the heart and coming to terms with sexual orientation quite well. Not to mention a pretty steamy locker room shower scene that I fully appreciated.

The Darwin Awards

Interesting idea for a movie, but cheesy dialog. The highlight was a live performance by Metallica which is the only reason I give it two stars rather than one. Ryder's below average acting only added to the disappointment. I struggled watching this to the end.

In the Realms of the Unreal
½

I think this documentary was a good introduction into the history of Henry Darger, but I was hoping to have more depth about his epic novel he wrote and his art work without the artistic rendering of the director. Like I said, it felt like an introduction to a very incredible man. I think Mr. Darger deserves far more more recognition for his amazing legacy he left behind than this film portrays. It is still worth while to view for those that are interested in literature history.

What Dreams May Come
½

I guess I am just a sucker for the idea of soul mates. It's such a sweet and tragic story, I enjoy this movie and I cry everytime I see it. It just touches me.

Jarhead
Jarhead(2005)

I thought this was a great performance by Jake, not to mention seeing him dance around with nothing but a santa hat was quite entertaining. I thought it was a good introspective look into one man's journey, not so much the battle itself. As a bonus, this film was put to a pretty kick butt sound track as well.

Cinderella Man

Good film. It was moving and inspirational.

The Holiday
The Holiday(2006)
½

I love this movie and sadly can relate.

Too Young to Die

Based on a true story, it's a bit sad and depressing, but still a great movie. Brad Pitt always did well in the older bad boy rolls, and he has good dysfuntional chemistry with Juliette Lewis.

Interview with the Vampire
½

Once again, a movie I have seen several times. If you are an Anne Rice fan, you got love the movie, not as good as the book, but Cruise did a great job with his character, as well Pitt, and a young Dunst.

Away From Her

A beautiful, bitter-sweet story of unconditional love and devotion.

God Grew Tired Of Us
½

Most inspiring documentary I have seen in a long time! John is an amazing man.

Even Money

I really wanted to like this, but I couldn't.

I Am Legend
I Am Legend(2007)

This was a good movie and I thought Will Smith did a great job, but the ending was kind of weak. Overall, still worth seeing.

The Devil Came on Horseback
½

This is a great movie for those that are deeply involved and interested in the difficulties in Darfur. Personally, I follow the history and current issues of genocide and suffering that Africa have endured, so I have great respect for those that try and capture the reality of the situation. It's not an easy thing to accomplish, and Brian is helpless with only a camera in hand. Inspiring for me to watch.

The Notebook
The Notebook(2004)

I have seen this a good 8 times now, what can I say I am a hopeless romantic! I adore this movie.

Alvin and the Chipmunks
½

It was cute and entertaining. My son loved it and cannot stop talking about it. Your kids will enjoy this.

Vacancy
Vacancy(2007)

Being John Malkovich

Great movie, I can watch this one over and over.
