Just fantastic, a near-perfect film. If Andy Serkis doesn't get AT LEAST an Oscar nom for this, I'm going to be pissed (but not surprised, sadly). One of the few films that absolutely demands a sequel or two. This can't be the last we see of Caesar, it just can't...the character growth he went through in the film rivals that of any "human" character in any other big-budget film that's come out this year, and I NEED to see more of his revolt and revolution. Stunning film, I wanted to immediately watch it again.
I wanted to like this so bad. Boring, sloppy and ugly.
Hilarious and full of breakout performances, particularly Wiig and McCarthy...though the movie just kind of fizzles out in the third-act, not really knowing how to end. Still though, a great film. Also, Tim Heidecker cameo!
Great cast of young actors, a gorgeous visual sense, and a true feeling of heart make this heads above most any other big-budget blockbusters we see anymore. Spielberg is felt more as a strong influence than a direct lift....Abrams has his own things to say here. Truly a filmmaker to be watched.
Bleak and beautiful, a more than worthy adaptation. While there were some notable changes from the novel, each was implemented with a real grace, assuring that I hardly ever noticed. Viggo Mortensen also continues his streak of being the best actor of his generation. It's quite depressing, but it's uplifting aspects are rarely commented on by reviewers...they really give the film heart. Also SURPRISE GUY PEARCE CAMEO!
