Idk if this is movie meant for children but I think the majority of the audience who enjoy it the most is actually the adults. All of the jokes are really funny and the brilliant voice over by all actors esp. Liam Neeson.
Just leave it to Lars von Trier to make you feel uncomfortable and uneasy. The second volume is darker and far more disturbing but I was very prepared, I mean it has more Charlotte Gainsbourg in it, lmao. This is really just the kind of movie that ruins your whole perspective of everything from sex to what really is right (the scene when the main character justify pedophilia). I think the ending is really more heartbreaking than all what the main character has been through. Oh and Shia's english accent was fucking awful though lmao.
You know what, I think this is the best movie from 2013, I don't understand why it didn't even get nominated in Oscar but then again Oscar is a lot of bullcrap. But goddamn this is just so Lars von Trier, it's sexually explicit (well duh the title is nymphomaniac what the hell do you expect? a cupcake making tutorial?), visually amazing and just full of symbolism. Though Dogville is my most fave von Trier's movie, this movie comes in second.
Actually from all the good new movies that are being released recently, this movie is the only one that really left something in me. It's different, very unique and somewhat entertaining (esp. the incredible soundtrack). Also how do you explain this movie to people who haven't seen it? It's a story about a man who fell in love with a computer system? That sounds just as sad as like people who fell in love with their body pillow or sex doll but this movie somehow manage to make the love story... romantic? Spike Jonze is my new fave person, I mean not only can he successfully pulled pranks on people by dressing as slutty old lady in Jackass, he's also one talented director. Oh and people keep saying that Johnny Depp is the most versatile actors with all the weird roles that he took, to me the most versatile actors nowadays is actually Joaquin motherfucking Phoenix, dude was incredibly weird in the Master, incredibly good in Walk the Line and in here he's incredibly sweet. Nothing can be said that much anymore about Amy Adams, she's just very underrated it hurts.
I feel like it could be shorter but still a decent movie regardless. Leo was fantastic as usual but I'm gonna get pissed off if the movie that actually gave him Oscar is gonna be this movie cause he actually deserved to get his first Oscar with better movies. I said this movie is decent cause it's great but in few years I doubt that people will still talk about it.
