This film is a feast of period detail and beautiful to watch. The only character developed to any satisfying extent is George (Firth) as his bereavement is convincingly explored. Some techniques become a little repetitive - slow motion sequences and close ups for example. Overall, well worth seeing.
A disturbing insight into the consequences of assimilating the interests of a thuggish political elite into the organs of the state. Some important questions are not addressed in the film, in particular the task of reconciling (once) white dominated commercial farming in Zimbabwe with a policy of meaningful (not corrupt) land redistribution.
