Pretty enjoyable romp in the tradition of 'Bad Santa'! Cameron Diaz is actually quite enjoyable as a cunning and thoughtless middle school teacher! Justin Timberlake and Lucy Punch make the film even better! Probably my favorite Diaz performance since "Any Given Sunday".
Mildly better than the original..at least this one had more actual Transformers in it!
Being an indie drama can be tough. How can a movie get its name out to the world w/o a hot leading star or a flood of CGI effects? Well, 'Win Win' may never get the recognition it deserves but anyone who stumbles upon this little gem should come away pleased! Paul Giamatti, as always, is a solid rock of an actor. He has a range that few possess and pulls off the everyday family man in this film with ease. Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavale, Alex Shaffer, and the others really glue the film together. So if you're surfing the channel guide one day and stumble upon 'Win Win', stop browsing and watch it!
I enjoy quirky character dramas like 'Leaves of Grass'. Tim Blake Nelson wrote, directed, and co-stars in a nice little film. Edward Norton is great as two estranged twins who haven't been together in 12 years. It has solid performances and a nice blend of comedy, drama, and character study.
I really enjoyed the craziness of this flick! From the hand-animated intro, to the dark humor, to the over-the-top violence! Rainn Wilson was very convincing as the downtrodden lost soul, Frank. Ellen Page was kinda just doing the same thing she always does, but she was still charming. And of course, Kevin Bacon definitely knows how to play a scumbag! This film isn't for everyone, but I think comic book fans and dark humor fans will enjoy it!
Tarsem brings his stunning attention to design to an action movie, and the results are quite impressive! No, the story isn't incredible, but it's an interesting slant on some classic Greek myths! Mickey Rourke is fantastic as the evil Hyperion and Henry Cavill has got my attention for his upcoming role as Superman. But the true stars of the film are the costumes, the landscapes, and Tarsem's unique style!
Another solid entry into the Harold & Kumar series! Danny Trejo is hilarious as Roldy's father-in-law! This would play great with 'Bad Santa' for a raunchy X-mas double feature!
A stunning look at Pu Yi, the last emperor of China. Bertolucci has created a wonderful film, with stunning cinematography and a gripping storyline! One of the great films on the 1980's!
Nice little film based on the true story of a Katrina-ravished high school basketball team and their incredible rise to the state finals! Strong performances from Whitaker, and company, especially Robbie Jones as Brian Randolph.
One of the best movies of the year! Nicolas Winding Refn's 'Drive' is like 'The Transporter' if it was injected with European awesomeness! The whole movie just oozes style! From the soundtrack, to the nuanced performances from everyone involved! This movie was a ton of fun!
The last few 'found footage' movies that were released have been solid, so I had some hopes that this would be as well. Instead, Apollo 18 had too much wrong with it to elevate to the levels of Cloverfield or [REC]. I think it's a little too slow. The 'problem' should have been revealed earlier and could've given the actors more to do. I don't think it was bad, but it definitely could've been improved.
One of the all-time classics! Mitchum's sleazy performance is enough to scare children all in itself! Combine that with stunning cinematography and strong supporting actors, and you have a fine film!
Pretty terrible ninja movie! The acting was cheesy, which I didn't mind so much. However, the fights were pretty awful!
This one was pretty decent. Some nice low-budget gore and the plot actually has some nice twists to it.
A solid character-based horror film. It may not have the thrills and suspense of the typical jump-at-you types of the genre. It builds up to an interesting climax with the strong performances of young Bailee Madison and even Katie Holmes.
Is this movie dumb? Hell yeah! But it's still pretty entertaining! Besides the plethora of topless women, Pervert! has some quirky low-budget gags that add to its charm. If you like naked chicks, and bizarre horror, check this weirdo film out! =)
Only the Japanese could come up with something as bizarre as this! If you enjoy ridiculous giant cephalopods AND pro wrestling, this movie is for you! It's probably NOT for anyone else though! =p
Pretty entertaining 80 minutes of fun! Both comedic duos (McBride & Swardson/Eisenberg & Ansari) are hilarious and play off each other very well! I'm glad Aziz is getting more work! I love that guy!
Pleasantly surprised by Limitless! Neil Burger takes us a fun ride with a fairly unique premise that only partially stutters near the end. Bradley Cooper continues to make entertaining films and some strong supporting work by Abbie Cornish add to a solid flick!
An interesting tale of Danny Greene, the true life Irishman who stood up to the dominant Italian mob in Cleveland. I thought Ray Stevenson knocked it outta the park! Danny Greene was a badass, and Stevenson played him wonderfully! The movie has kind of a generic, direct-to-tv feel in some places but Stevenson keeps it afloat!
