Can you imagine that this movie was directed by Martin Scorsese ? With Hugo we are miles away from Goodfellas or The Departed. The visuals are stunning and and the story is magic. A nice tribute to the beginning of the movie era.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

This movie will remain a mystery for me. Slow paced, very well acted thanks to a great Gary Oldman. Got lost quite a few times though. Maybe second viewing will clear my mind.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Sentimental movie with a lot of emotion. The movie is nonetheless too narrative. Expected much better.

Prizzi's Honor

Disappointing movie. Thank god Nicholson was here to elevate the level.

So much for nothing. Wouldn't have bothered seeing it if it weren't for Liam Neeson.

A Dangerous Method

Michael Fassbender deserves a praise so does Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen. All and all the if you're not that much into psychoanalysis you'll find the movie slightly boring.

The Intouchables

Touchant, plein d'à (C)motions, drôle ce film est un pur plaisir. Superbe alchimie entre Omar Sy et François Cluzet qui rend le film à (C)minement humain.

The Iron Lady

Meryl Streep is a genius. She made me enjoy this movie despite its numerous flaws. Let's not forget Jim Broadbent's solid performance.

A Few Good Men

Intense court room drama with great performances by Cruise and Nicholson.

The Help
The Help(2011)

Seriously, a great movie. High level of emotion with a good cast around Emmas Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer. Really a good example of history storytelling.

Loved it ! Great political drama movie with an amazing cast.

Super 8
Super 8(2011)

Super 8 is good sci-fi movie, visually stunning. Good work from director JJ Abrams (Lost).

Declaration of War

Film très touchant avec beaucoup d'émotions. Superbement joué et réalisé par Valérie Donzelli avec une excellente BO.

Cassandra's Dream

Underrated movie with two great actors. It may not have the perfectly charted plot arc of some of Allen's finest films, but the plot is still entertaining. If you liked Colin Farrell in the movie "In Bruges" you'll enjoy his performance here.

Husbands and Wives

The movie is a really good study of relationships and marriage. Enjoyed the way the story was structured with the characters being interviewed between scens. Also fun to see young Liam Neeson being the seducer alongside the always entertaining Woody Allen.

Never Let Me Go

The story is weird but very well acted. I was impressed with Carey Mulligan's performance and the chemistry between the 3 lead actors.

Ralph Fiennes is not only one of the best actor of his generation, but he's also a great director. The movie is a bit long though and only for purists and play aficionados.

Work of art with a great direction and a fantastic cast.

The Guard
The Guard(2011)

Was expecting much more laughs. Anyway The Guard is a nice irish comedy, very entertaining and sharply acted. Brendan Gleeson has so much comic potential. I was glad to see him in a first role.

Amusing dark comedy with a good performance by Rainn Wilson. Loved Ellen Page in her psychopatic role as Boltie.

Despite it's very realistic approach to what worldwide pandemic might be, the movie was overall disapointing. Very well filmed though.

Funny with some grat special effects. Kenneth Branagh's adaptation is easily one of the best of the Marvel series.

Little White Lies

Expected much better, but in the end it's an enjoyable movie about friendship with some touching moments.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Loved the general atmosphere in this movie. Rooney Mara is exactly what I expected from Lisbeth Salander when I read the books. Great suspense.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Charming movie. Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling both shine in their roles and form an unexpected duo.

12 Angry Men (Twelve Angry Men)

Courtroom drama at its best. So much tension between the protagonists, powerful dialogues. It felt like I was watching a play.

Margin Call

The Truman Show

A good representation of our society with a nice performance from Jim Carrey.

Sex and Lucia

Interesting story, visually stunning with some great acting. Felt like I was watching the spanish "Amelie".

King of New York

Abel Ferrara depicts a dark New York entering the 90's with gangster rivalries. Christopher Walken shines as mobster Frank White.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Typical Coen Brothers movie, with a funny trio led by George Clooney. Nice to see John Goodman again.

Mean Streets
Mean Streets(1973)

Scorsese's first movie, where we can already notice the talent. Same thing for Keitel and De Niro.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Spectacular special effects, for a good story with great performances by James Franco and Andy Serkis.

The Deer Hunter

The russian roulette scene is epic. Great cast and powerful movie.

In the Mood for Love

So much style, beautifully shot and very well acted.

About Schmidt

A poignant and at the same time funny movie. Retirement, death, loneliness are the main subjects developed in the story, with a great Jack Nicholson.

Pineapple Express

Laughed quite a few times ! Loved the pair Rogen and Franco. Danny Mcbride and Craig Robinson also had some funny roles !

Captain America: The First Avenger

Marvel movies are really fun to watch. Captain america with it's retro style captures well the general atmosphere of WW2. Enjoyed seeing Hugo Weaving playing once again the bad guy.

Midnight in Paris

Woody Allen's vision of Paris, full of nostalgia, romance and magic. Owen Wilson is our guide and Marion Cotillard is our gift !

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked)

Very stylish, a good soundtrack and an excellent cast ! Can't ask for more !

Source Code
Source Code(2011)

This movie should really be called "Déjà Vu",

I Love You Phillip Morris

A one-time watch type movie. Great acting from Jim Carrey, but in the end we don't even know if it's a comedy or a drama. Lot's of similarities with Catch me if You Can.

Burn After Reading

The story is crazy, and that's what's so good about the movie. John Malkovitch and Frances Mcdormand really shine in their role.

The Road
The Road(2009)

Very dark movie with an excellent performance from Viggo Mortensen.

The idea is good, but the story takes too much time to settle and is too predictable.

Shaun of the Dead

Very entertaining british parody !

Disappointing movie . Expected much better, especially when you're able to gather so many good actors.

Love Actually

Great british cast for an average movie.

Knocked Up
Knocked Up(2007)

Brilliant ! So much intensity in that movie mixed with perfect performances and an awesome soundtrack. Ryan Gosling is at his best.

L.A. Confidential

Fantastic acting for an exhilarating neo-noir thriller masterpiece . Sometimes reminded me of Chinatown.

Fight Club
Fight Club(1999)

Disappointing . Even though the trio Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter was very good, I wasn't absorb at all by the movie and found the story quite grotesque.

I Love You, Man

An original and funny comedy, with hilarious performances from Paul Rudd and Jason Segel.

The Big Lebowski

Waow, this is definitely an all time classic by the Coen Brothers. Great script, great dialogues, great direction and great performances by Jeff Bridges and John Goodman.

Weird movie with some funny moments. I enjoyed the fact that it took place in Scotland with a very good young Ewan Mcgregor.

Paris Je T'aime

This is a great collection of short films all involving different areas of Paris for a unique portrayal of this city. Two thumbs up for the coen brothers's contribution.

Citizen Kane
Citizen Kane(1941)

Not the masterpiece I was hoping for, but a fairly good film on the whole with excellent acting by Orson Welles. Maybe I have to rewatch it.

Children of Men

Entertaining and powerful movie with some great action scenes.

Knight & Day
Knight & Day(2010)

Average movie with nothing new and nothing unexpected, even though there is a good chemistry between Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.

Pretty good movie about a cop fighting corruption. Pacino as always produces a good performance, but I never really got into the story and found it slightly boring at times.

Good biopic of a quite antique general, with a great George C. Scott. This movie is not a typical war movie, because it focuses more on the struggle of a great general against his ennemies but also against his allies, and his own country's war politic.
"Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!"

The Last Samurai

Not a big Tom Cruise fan, but he really shines in this movie. Great play also by the japanese cast led by the always dependable Ken Watanabe. All and all the Last samurai is very entertaining with a good soundtrack and amazing scenes.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Loved the chemistry between Paul Newman and Robert Redford. In the end it's a pretty good western with some funny dialogues.

Raging Bull
Raging Bull(1980)

The trio Scorsese, De Niro and Pesci at their best. The black and white filming, along with a beautiful score give to this masterpiece something even more tragic. Definately worth watching and watching again.

Bad Education

Intense movie with strong performances. Maybe too wild and too provocative for me, but Almodovar's visual style and flair is always convincing.

Michael Collins

Liam Neeson as Michael Collins, Alan Rickman as Eamon De Valera and Neil Jordan behind the camera for a wonderful movie.

...And Justice for All

One of the best court room drama movie that i've seen. Al Pacino gives a brilliant and mesmerising performance.

Hot Tub Time Machine

Nice movie with some very funny jokes, and good performances by Cusack, Robinson and Corddry. Too bad the script doesn't follow.
