If you like The Muscles from Brussels - okay, his movies are in the category of "secret shames" or " guilty pleasures - you'll dig this. The cinematography is fantastic, for one. The cast is surprisingly great! Sofia Milos of CSI: Miami fame; Ben Cross; Charlton-freaking-Heston. It's got some of the comedy elements that imbued "Knock Off" (a surprisingly fun flick) and none of the "I'm trying to find out what happened to my dead twin" that Van Damme seemed to be noted for.
I usually hate movies shot on video (and who doesn't?) Within just a few minutes, the characters and camera angles drew me in. But this flick is really creative, funny, gory, and acted with a naturality you don't often get in low budgets. The director's going places. And if you dig punky werewolf guys, you'll houwl just for that
Overall, good direction, with some great shots and good "realistic" lighting. The biggest drawback is, of course, the CGI animals themselves. Nice to see Eva Amum again, making a nod to her first breakout role in "Ginger Snaps." The flick gets a basic 3 stars for most of the acting and visuals, and might've gotten more if they hadn't taken the cheap road withthe smokey "spirit animal" effects. If you like to see Riley from Buffy naked and banging chicks, you'll certainly dig this one.
