Ill be honest, I had really high hopes for this. Luckily I wasnt disappointed in the slightest. Right from the ominous start the tone is set for a bloody endeavour. The main plot of the film centres around a family gathering to celebrate their parents anniversary. From the start, theres the feeling that something isnt quite right between the siblings, and this makes the build up that bit more uneasy. When the action starts, brilliantly introduced with a crossbow to the face, it doesnt let up for the hour final hour. Sharni Vinson's ass kicking Erin sets a new benchmark for Horror Heroines of the future as she single handedly delivers blow after bloody blow. This is what sets You're Next apart from other slasher horrors. It doesn't follow normal protocol. Moreover, it's funny and doesn't take itself too seriously, which I feel, makes it the success that it is. Go see it, but remember when you get home, don't look under the bed.
