Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Sure, it wasn't as refreshingly new as the first one. But can you really re-think an already re-thought wheel? This movie didn't have to be anything more than an extension of the first movie, which it was. Funny, beautiful, well acted and scripted, and chock full of awesome music. I thought that they did improve upon Gamora in this movie. She looked cooler, and felt more fleshed out. She was the weakest point of the first movie for me, she essentially felt like "green-skinned alien sidekick girl". In this movie her makeup is cooler, her costume is cooler, and the character development with her and Nebula was excellent.

While Baby Groot certainly steals the show, many of the other characters are really allowed to shine. I think the obvious one to mention here is Yondu, but every other lead character has some great moments. It is still funny to me that with the exception of one or two scenes, Drax is essentially maniacally laughing the whole time. Mantis was a fun addition, and Kurt Russell was awesome. I don't want to talk about him too much, for the sake of spoilers, but he was the perfect choice for the role.

I am talking a lot. All you really need to know is that this an awesome story with awesome visuals, awesome music, and awesome acting done by awesome actors.

Or I could just say it's awesome. It's awesome. AWESOME!

The Jungle Book

Watched this with my daughter today. Amazing. The visuals were so impressive. I have never seen animals so effectively animated - they must have spent forever making this movie. The cast was also chosen so well - every actor fit their character perfectly. I mean, Scarlett Johannsen Kaa? I wouldn't have been able to say no, either. JUST EAT ME ALREADY!!! And Billy Murray as Baloo was so funny. I loved every minute he was on screen. They did a great job with gangster King Louie - we also very much appreciated the "cowbell" reference right before he appeared. (Considering he was played by Christopher Walken)

An excellent movie all around, this is one that I will have to own.

Battle For Terra

This movie suffered greatly from poorly executed visuals. It hit on all of the normal cliches of a childrens sci-fi story while really not offering anything unique of it's own. We had seen better visuals by that point in time (2007), and we have all seen this story in multiple formats. It is funny because Avatar went on to tell this exact same story so much more effectively. (Dances with Wolves in space).

It was entertaining, and it had a star studded cast - but everything else really caused it to fall short for me.

Doctor Strange

What a mind blowing awesome spectacle. The story and situation didn't rip your brain to pieces like Inception or Interstellar, but the visuals were spectacular, and trippy, and Strange is an awesome character. That all being said, the best part of this movie was Tilda Swinton. She was amazing, and I am becoming a huge fan of her work.
