For an S&M movie its a very dull one. The love story is cringe inducing and there is not a single sexy scene. When you have a movie full of 90s songs in it's soundtrack any kind of sexiness is lost. Acting is more suitable for a theater play than a movie, over the top and cringy.
Angelo Badalamenti talent is sadly misused.
I may have not enjoyed this movie because it simply wasn't what I was expecting
The biggest problem of the movie is that it falls very far away from what it could have been. If someone told me years ago that Guy Ritchie was going to direct a spy movie I would have been exited to watch it. The final result it's a forgetable, average movie that tried to start a new franchise and failed. So much talent involved, sadly didn't add to greatness.
I haven't seen the series it's based on, but as far as I know it has more comedy involved. When comedy is used here it falls flat and even feels cringy with the overall tone of the movie.
General audiences when it comes to movies they focus ln the story since it's a storytelling medium the problem with this is that sometimes movies whose stories are not that strong, but whose technical ascpect are remarkable tend to be overlooked. This is specially the case with action movies and horror movies. Double Team does have a weak story with lines delivered in such uninspired way, nevertheless the construction of the action scenes is superb. I was amazed at the camera work as well as action performances.
A dumb fun movie that is more entertaining for those people that like JVC/ 80s-90s action movies.
Mickey Rourke was jammed! Great performance as the bad guy.
The action scene with the tiger is full of jolly vibes.
This looks like a movie Tim Burton would have directed if he was more ballsy, sci-fi centric. The movie greatest thing is how unique it feels among other animation movies, it's just weird this is a Family Animation look and story seems would work better in a more adult oriented animation. The problems I have with the movie is the lack of investment in the characters, due to length of the movie, also the explanation and logic of some key elements of the movie just didn't work for me. At the beginning it seems it was going to rely more on environmental storytelling which would have been more interesting to see.
Robot creatures designs are very imaginative in a good sense.
I have never given to much thought at what has influence the person that I am today, but now that I look back I have realize that watching Luther and In the Name of the Rose as a young man did end up having an impact in me. Maybe consciously or unconsciously watching movies like this make me realize that we shouldn't blindly follow instructions based on blind faith. In the name of the rose is a bromance in the form of an Master/Apprentice relationship, a detective movie, a great performance by Sean Connery, that always manage to look decisive and fair, and last but not least a poignant critique on religion. I wish this movie keeps reaching young minds so they can develop a much needed sense of "questioning".
The camaderie of Sean Connery and Christian Slater on screen is great.
Ron Perlman always adds so much to films he is in.
