Silent Hill
Silent Hill (2006)

This horror flick set in an old mining ghost town has a great cast, and very original concept based on the video game of the same name. This movie is the closest you'll get to actually having a nightmare in a movie. Maybe a little long though, This is a Horror movie with lots of great special effects.

Into the Wild
Into the Wild (2007)

A very touching, non-fiction story of the journey of a idealistic young college graduate Chris McCandless, who wanted for nothing but needed to find himself! ...with a very unfortunate ending. Well acted and beautiful cinematography in this movie directed by Sean Penn. This riveting docu-drama is a must see.

The Cave
The Cave (2005)

In this B-Grade movie a group of underwater explorers are summoned to Romania's Carpathian Mountains, where scientists have discovered a gigantic cave network containing a lengthy underground river. Cutting-edge breathing gear gets unpacked, camaraderie and budding romances develop, and then... everyone becomes trapped in the depths, where monsters start picking off cast members, one by one. This movie is a little predictable but still has something to offer, although not one of the best horror movies i've ever seen.

The Mist
The Mist (2007)

½

After a violent storm in a small lakeside town in Maine, a cloud of mist appears the next morning. As the mist quickly envelops the area, a group of people are trapped in the local supermarket - among them, artist David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and his five-year-old son. The group soon discovers that within the mist live numerous species of horrific, unworldly creatures that possibly spewed out through an inter-dimensional rift, caused by experiments at the nearby military base. But fiery Mrs Carmody (Marcia Gay Harden) fans the panic with her righteous fundamentalism, believing she is a vessel of god who has brought this evil upon the sinners. The ending to this movie is unlike one i've ever seen. I enjoyed this horror flick... but not as much as the other recent Steven King adaption... 1408.
