Tucker and Dale vs. Evil
5 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

A landmark in the comedy horror genre. It's many things at once. It's a multi-layered spoof of the highest calibre, a compassionate treatise on the fear of fear, misunderstandings and perceptions, and it's a carefully and tastefully executed farce, mixing black humour and slapstick with moments of gentle and sincere drama. But above all, Tucker & Dale vs Evil is an authoritative clichà (C) slasher of the most sophisticated kind. I would not compare this to Shaun of the Dead, which was stylish and hip. Tucker and Dale are way cooler than that. And I mean this in the most serious way.

Trollhunter

This very stylish and endearing tongue-in-cheek troll hunt is so amazingly good that it might even have inadvertently created a sub-genre of cinema. The humour is so irreverent, yet subtle, gentle, inoffensive, respectful, mature. That deserves awards! Simply brilliant.

Jaws
Jaws (1975)

Spielberg measured the success of this movie by how high the pop-corn flew in the air at the première! Certainly haunted my dreams in my youth. I agree with the critics; Jaws is a pioneering and ground-breaking piece of work that became bigger than itself. An icon of horror which may never grow old, just like the 1933 King-Kong.
