Matt's Review of Snow White and the Huntsman
A fascinatingly dark adaptation of the classic fairytale, "Snow White and the Huntsman" is a master of setting mood and providing tension, but does a ho-hum job at mostly everything else. The makings of greatness are there, but it comes up short because the uneven script that lacks any heart, and the characters just aren't compelling enough.
With her stilted acting, Kristen Stewart (playing the titular heroine) unfortunately gives us no real reason to care for Snow White. Other than the fact that some phantom man-in-the-mirror proclaims her the fairest in the land, and the only one who can stop the queen, of course.
This latest "Snow White" is entirely entertaining with its beautiful landscapes and sweeping soundtrack, but hackneyed dialogue and a few boring characters keep it from reaching its true potential. On the plus side though, there's a scene where you might just see Kristen Stewart smile... But blink and you'll miss it.
