Funny, nostalgic, heartfelt and sweet, I give Perks of Being a Wallflower an A.

Looper
Looper (2012)

½

"Looper has a strong emotional core, as its two protagonists - young and old, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis respectively - embody the cycle of selfishness they see all around them, and show the potential for one person to break it. Rian Johnson's Looper is a remarkable feat of imagination and execution, entertaining from start to finish, even as it asks the audience to contemplate how and why humanity keeps making the same rotten mistakes." MY RATING: A-.

Phoenix and Hoffman are equally superb in this stunning and unsettling new film by Paul Thomas Anderson. MY GRADE: A!

The Next Three Days

½

Suspenseful and for the most part well-acted, though "burdened by moral questions that don't add in value what they subtract in pace," I give The Next Three Days" a B-.
