Althought Truman Capote originally envisioned his friend Marilyn Monroe as Holly, to see Audrey Hepburn's interpretation of the irrepressible Ms Golightly is a Joy! With stellar performances by George Peppard and Patricia Neal as well, all set, on location in 1960 New York, this film is clearly a classic for any fan or would-be fan of Ms Hepburn. Direction by Blake Edwards, later of the Pink Panther series, is also superb and no one can direct a "Party sequence" like Blake, especially the famous one in this film.
By far the best reason to see this film is the return of Sophia Loren to the Screen. At 86, she delivers a performance as Mamma Rosa of such depth that you forget the Legend and are mesmerized by her character. Great supporting cast as well. Highly recommend it.
Whether or not you supported the war in Afghanistan, the key point of this very moving story is a Father's love for his two sons and a desire to overcome physical and psychological obstacles upon his return to civilian life. A heartfelt story of love and sacrifice.
