I've seen it twice now, and it went from being a good, silly film to an even BETTER silly film. Fuck the haters. "They hate us cuz we anus".
"The Conjuring" was a great, if not slightly derivative horror flick, with some memorable scares and a great ear for atmosphere.
This is not "The Conjuring"
"Annabelle" is god-awful. It's a poorly acted slog through genre cliches and dead air. There is little to no effort given in establishing a sense of tension, the violence is toned down (for what lul) and the "disturbing" elements look and feel like something out of a "Scary Movie" film. Not good, not good at all
I don't like being a cynical movie hipster, but when you pull crap like THIS it's kind of hard not to be. Aside from the whole, "we're just gonna turn the classic novel into an action schlock-fest" angle they went for towards the end here, the film is so poorly written, acted and directed that it becomes something of a laugh riot pretty early on. Dialoge like "I have felt things. And it was WARM! And NICE!" sounds hilarious. Also, the constipated acting from our teenage leads was obviously an issue, but it seems like that could be the director's fault. I say this because the film features a bizzare, hoaky performance from Meryl Streep. That is something you have to TRY to achieve. These performances are struggling to find emotion that the script dictates they don't have. Good job on that one.
I dunno man read the book or something.
This will probably be the best thing ever
Oh quit being pretentious Erik, you sound silly.
Yeah I get it now. And yes it was awesome. Kevin Feige still sucks, but James Gunn seems to know what's good.
