Ashes of Time Redux

OK movie. Heartbreak, death, decent fight scene, heartbreak, death, decent fight scene. That's about it really.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I loved the Swedish version more, but this is a great movie. Fincher's slick direction, a haunting soundtrack, and a strong cast, especially Rooney Mara who gives an incredible performance as Lisbeth, all make it a must see.

The Amazing Spider-Man

I really liked this reboot of Spider-man. I enjoyed Sam Raimi's first two Spider-man movies and Tobey Maguire in the lead role, so I was expecting the worst when I heard they were getting rid of both director and star, and replacing them with unknowns. To my surprise though this was as good as the Spider-man 2, if not better. The acting is superb, with a strong cast. Andrew Garfield revels in his break out role, giving sense of realism and less vulnerability to the Parker character. The Amazing Spider-man may lack the spectacle that we seen in The Avengers, but more than makes up for it in heart. RECOMMENDED

Man on a Ledge

Good action movie. An ex-cop and now wanted fugitive, stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while a hard-living New York Police Department negotiator tries to talk him down. The longer they are on the ledge, the more she realizes that he might have an ulterior objective. Man on a Ledge is a solid movie that's far from perfect, but it fitted perfectly into my living room's Sunday matinee session, and sometimes that's enough.

The Raid: Redemption

Great action movie with some incredible set pieces, good acting, and slick directing. A must for fans of the genre.
