This is so beautiful

I can'tbegin to imagine the amount of controversy the novel would have stirred up in the 1960's

Considering the amount of homophobia and sensitivity in society even in modern times Selbys focus on issues such as violence, gang rape, homosexuality, transvestism and domestic violence show the authors revolutionay perception of human nature.

the novel was the subject of an obscenity trial in the united kingdom and banned in Italy.

" San Fransisco in the middle sixties was a very special place and time and place to be a part of , no mix of sounds and words can touch that sense of knowing that you were alive in that corner of time , whatever it meant". Don't let my mature looks fool you - I have indead not experienced the middle sixties first hand, and before this movie and the book i had never truly wished to be born in that era . Thompsons portrayal of that decade captivates you into believing it was possibly more fantastic than reality -visions of inhuman acts of retaliation and energy "we had all the momentum , we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave ".

Johnny Depp is at his peak in this movie, having spent a large amount of time living in Hunters basement , he whitnessed and doutlessly understood that amalgamation insanity and genious that was Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.

Benicio del Toro stars along-side Depp completing the magnificent duo. comedy is framed with undertones of faithful lines of wisdom from Hunters books.

The sountrack is spectacular ,comprising of Jefferson Airplane's 'White Rabbit' and The yardbirds 'For youre love'

keep youre eyes peeled for a beautiful visual as the camera swirls upwards along with the lines : " a desperate assumption that some-one or at least some force was tending the light at the end of the tunnel"

Wow What a monumental let down !

okay this basically follows morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt as C.S.I.'s investingating the case of a serial Killer who kills according to people guilty of the seven deadly sins.

when i heard about this storyline i thought it had so much potential - I mean its a little cheesy but if it was done right it could have been magnificent .

And the really pissing thing is that i can't exactly pin-point what was wrong with it per se but it was just so boring and really cliche and predictable in parts. I can totally imagine it looking really good as a screenplay but maybe they were just relying on the good storyline or the big actor names to draw people in and they totally forgot about crucial things like a good edit.

The plot would make for a really good episode of C.S.I.:Vegas actually . In other words all it needs is to be put into the hands of some-one who knows what the're doing !

The only reason it even gets too stars is because

1. the storyline has potential
2. morgan freeman was okay in it.
