As Richard and I discussed this should be called, "The Stay Away.." Ironically enough I had the hardest time staying awake as it took 3 sittings to watch this movie because the first 2 times I watched it I fell asleep. The tagline should read: "The big tease.."
Oh flixster, you'll never get the year, cast or summary right.
What is wrong with Jack Ketchum's brain!!!
While it claims to be a prequel expect more of a remake, while it doesn't improve on anything in the original and doesn't hold a torch in comparison it was a comprehensive remake until the end. Wowzers. What you see in the end credits is awesome but the last 10 to 15 minutes of the actual movie is just jaw-droppingly stupid.
The stupidity and lunacy of the masses shrouding the true Christians is less Circus like today but still plaguing parts of the world, still a very relevant film. This will stay with me for days, years. Now I know why it's labelled as Ken Russell's finest work. Oliver Reed was FANTASTIC. Truly frightening while sometimes comedic.
Don't let anyone tell you this is a "slasher" movie because it has as much gore as Rope, Ten Little Indians or the original House on Haunted Hill. It was an interesting idea but I think some of the cast was just wrong (ahem, Jason Mewes) and 2002 was such a gross year, pretty sure half of the cast were high on heroin and/or still sporting the heroin sheik, dark circles around eyes, sickly flesh look, especially considering this was Glenn Quinn's last film before his death.
What's not to like? Film would have paired nicely with some bacon.
Well, that was the first time I saw someone almost lovingly hugged to death in a slasher. Also, good job Flixster, listing John Kerry the senator from Massachusetts as a cast member.
