Gabriel's Review of Les MisÚrables
I can't hate it because there are wonderful moments, but given the cinematic factors at work here, I can't help but feel a little disappointed and underwhelmed. The film alternates between great sequences and histrionic groaners, most of which is overdirected by Tom Hooper, whose camerawork gave me headaches. Why did everything have to be so shaky cam and tilted? The aesthetic was cool at first, but I grew tired of it by about 30 minutes in.
