There are a lot of people out there raving about this film. I'm not one of them. Now, don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the film, but I don't see it as being something special. To me it just seemed like a run of the mill Scorsese film. Despite that, Bale, Adams, and Cooper give dynamic performances, although I feel Lawrence was horribly miscast.
This third chapter in the "Before" series, is by far and away the most serious of the three. Dealing with the regrets we all have, this film looks at these two cherished characters as they reach their hardest days. I can only hope we get another in nine years.
