Right off the bat, I love this movie way more then any sane person should and think that it's one of the most under rated horror sequels out there. Is it trying to reinvent the wheel? No, Is it a kick ass horror movie with the budget, ambition and lack of censorship restraints to give fans gnarly inventive kills while also evolving the series' mythos all in an super 80's package? HELL YES Sure the character development outside of Alice and Freddy is pretty nil, but that still works for me as I find Alice a very interesting character with a sympathetic and compelling backstory. I also love what/who The Dream Master is and how that progressed and streamlined the Dream Warrior mythology of 3. Finally I love how this is probably the most 80's installment in (if anything tied with Friday the 13th) the most 80's franchise complete with an awesomely 80's soundtrack including The Divinyls, Billy Idol and Blondie. How is that not awesome?!
