Movie Ratings and Reviews

Fun, dark and silly goodness. Michael Keaton is amazing.

The Brave One

Part of our movie weekend included The Brave One with Jodie Foster. Ugh. It was interesting. I truly didn't care for any character in the film. I always wondered why they didn't dig more into why the 2 main people in the movie were so drawn to each other, other than the loss of their loved ones (from 2 different reasons). We didn't get much back story to either of their lives, so it was hard to see why they would be so drawn to each other.
The whole entire thing lost me. I got it, but I didn't. Jodie Foster is a remarkable actress, and I will watch anything that has her in it, but this one just was not that good. I think I will actually blame it on the screenplay though. The actors were good, but the whole entire story wasn't. I get the concept of being a victim and being so afraid that the only thing you feel good about is exacting revenge on those less fortunate than yourself. But can you base a whole movie around it? I truly didn't think so.
And while I did watch the entire thing...I don't think I will be watching it again. Even for one of my favorite actresses of all time.

Funny, intense and a little absurd, but what zombie movie isn't. The cast was wonderful, you couldn't ask for better. Well, recommended.

Party Down: Season One

Lame and boring. The cast is so mediocre and was not entertaining at all.

The Men Who Stare at Goats

Not enough funny parts to save this movie. Found it boring and blah.

Women in Trouble

This movie was hysterically funny at the beginning of the film, but as it it progressed it seemed to play out more like "Crash" and how each of these girls are connected. Overall, it was entertaining but I feel that it was more like a reason to just see Carla Gugino in a a bra and panties and have lots of crotch shots.

enjoyed the movie but the preview led me to believe it was a different story.

very interesting concept... bright and vibrant with a unqiue plot line.

Nothing But the Truth

This was good, but long drawn out movie. We could have ended it thirty minutes ago. UGH~ We also could have used less David Schwimmer.

Samurai Fiction (SF: Episode One)

A long but entertaining movie. You really believe and feel for the characters and the story that is being told. But I listening to Hugh Jackman, I thought I was watching Crocodile Dundee at times. This is an epic love story with not much more substance than that.

Rachel Getting Married

The movie was totally a downer and a bit confusing in the end. And no wonder the girl is so screwed up, the family is just as bad. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't say it is a top favorite.

Slumdog Millionaire

I could totally see why this movie got so many academy awards. It was a clever way of telling the story of this kid's life. The jumping around from different time normally annoys me, but this was done in a way that made sense. Great film, well worth the money for it.

The Tale of Despereaux

Very slow moving and could not keep my interest. As a fan of animation, I did not care for it's overly computerized look. There was nothing that made this movie stand out. With all the hype, it was a big let down.

Knocked Up
Knocked Up(2007)

I thought this movie was gonna be so cheesy, but truly deep down inside you really wanted them to work out. It was a good story and is a good take on the generation of today.

Treasure Planet

This movie was soooo under rated. It was a great story, the animation was superb. I was on the edge of my animated seat just waiting to see who it was all gonna play out. I wish I hadn't waited this long to see it. Probably a top fave of Disney animated movies.

Still not sure what the hype is all about. Movie was okay. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to any good vampire stuff and that lasted a whole 15 minutes. I understand it is not a true "vampire" movie, but a "love" story. As a love story it was... "not too bad", but it did not make me want to read the book or fall in love with bella and edward. But was worth the $4. And Elisabeth agrees!

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

The first one was soooooo much more funnier. But still, the movie is good and entertaining. It is best to watch the first one first. You will need to.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

The movie was good, better than expected. Drew Barrymore is so cute as the little prissy Chihuahua. You can't take this movie seriously. Relax and have a good time with it, we did!

Synecdoche, New York

Overall, not bad. It was a little hard to follow for me. Maybe because I was doing other stuff too. It was funny, everyone in our group laughed. I think this is a movie you either like or dislike.

Body of Lies
Body of Lies(2008)

The movie was not bad at all. Good twists and turns.

Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman(2009)

I gave it middle of the road rating... I enjoyed it (Elisabeth did not), but I was not impressed with the animation itself. I love the 70's Super Friends Wonder Woman drawings better. The story was the okay, it spent more time about "the amazons" and less about the story line. The finale went by quickly and it lacked big drama.

I am really liking Thundercats. I just started watching it, first season. I am only episode 5 I think. So far it is a good story.

I watched this with Elisabeth and I was impressed. I thought that I would not like it because I am not a fan of drama movies much. The story was good it kept me intrigued to figure out what was going on. I recommend it.

Almost Famous

This is one of my favorite movies of all times. I guess it reminds me of me. Working on my latin music magazine, becoming friends with the celebrities and ruining your life in the process. I can relate to it well. it is a great story and the acting is awesome. Kate Hudson was perfect in her role. Made me respect her so much more after this.

The movie I watch this movie, the more I enjoy it. The extras are great on the blu-ray.

This was okay of a movie. It drags a bit. But it is cute and great family movie. I like that they are getting more original with the movies lately. I like when they use animals as the characters like the originals did.

We just wanted Mulan again and once again, I am not impressed. I guess it is a little slow moving for me.

I am loving watching the old cartoons from my childhood. I used to watch this in the 4th grade and my friends and I would run around the playground playing "Battle of The Planets" (the US version of Gatchaman). I am finally seeing what started it all and I am loving it. I recommend this if you like cheesy 70's cartoons.

Dragon Ball Z: Tree of Might (Doragon bru Z: Chiky marugoto ch kessen)

as I try my hand at anime, I found that this one was not that great. I don't know all the characters, which may have hindered the movie watching experience, but I didn't like anyone of them either. I just felt nothing.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

It was not that bad for my first anime movie. It had an alright storyline, the acting wasn't hideous. I enjoyed it over all, laughed at the cheesiness, but ohhh and awww'd when something cool happened.

Step Brothers

It wasn't that great, but it wasn't bad. They are just two old guys trying to act like slacker teens and failing at it. They both can act well, I don't know why they choose to do movies that lower the bar.

Soccer Mom
Soccer Mom(2008)

Gotta love Emily Osment. It was ok, not horrible, but just your typical made for tv family movie. Good wholesome fun.

Tinker Bell
Tinker Bell(2008)

I finally got up the courage to waste an hour plus of my day to watch the tinkerbell movie. Overall, it was not bad. The other fairies have better personalities than tink. She still is over rated. The end of the movie brings us to Wendy's home. There will be another Tink movie, which looks much better than this one. For now, I will continue to watch the fairy movies until the bore me.

Can't Stop the Music

Really cheesy gay movie.

Make Mine Music

Nice variety of shorts

American History X

I loved this movie. The acting was awesome and it was just a superb movie in general. Recommend

The first SAW was wonderful. The others I don't remember as well. But this was unique concept and very well written storyline.

My Best Friend's Girl

Recommended by a friend, I took decided to watch this. I eventually would have watched it because I like Kate Hudson's romantic comedy. She is really following in her mama's foot steps. The movie starts out slow, but picks up and you really hope that they all get together and comes out happy. And it does!

Enjoyed the movie, good for a who-dunnit movie. Recommend it.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

Great. One of the best teen horror flix. Great cast, almost brat pack for my generation.

Meet Bill
Meet Bill(2008)

very average movie... not bad, but not good. Most of the funny parts were in the previews. Add it to your netflix if you can't find anything better.

Very intense and suspenseful movie. I really like Shia as an actor. He did a great job and storyline was well developed.

Anger Management

boring, not funny. The two of them together did not work well. And I spent movie theater price to see it.

Cheaper by the Dozen

It was a cute family filled (literally) movie. Try not to take it so serious and you will enjoy it.

Now, I am a sucker for true life serial killer stories. The way they handled this movie and protrayed the characters and the situations were great. A definitely must see movie.

Seven (Se7en)

"What's in the box?" Oh, how we love this movie and not just because it is Gwyneth Paltrow's head (oops, did I spoil it?). Awesome cast, awesome plot and awesome acting. If you have not seen this movie yet, add it and bump this baby to the top of your must see list. You will not be disappointed (unless you really like Paltrow).

The Game
The Game(1997)

This is a good thriller that needs to be added to your queues. Even though it is a bit old, the movie keeps you intrigued and you are constantly trying to figure out what is real and what is not. I don't care more for Michael Douglas, but I have to say he is a good person to mess with in the role.

Meet the Robinsons

Not just because this is Disney, but I really did enjoy this. It was totally out of this world. The characters are just that, characters, although I wish Disney would stop using "stars" as voices cause you really have trouble getting their faces out of your minds and focusing on the story it's self.

Found tis boring and lame. It wasn't worth the postage that it took to get it to me. Not even worth the time to write this review. UGH!

Love Wrecked
Love Wrecked(2005)

Typical Disney Channel movie. good clean romantic comedy, no major drama and has a happy ending.

Step Up
Step Up(2006)

I liked this. It is almost like a urban Dirty Dancing love story. Dancing was good, music was cool. It felt like it was realistic. Add this to your netflix queue.

Stick It
Stick It(2006)

the movie did not get a lot of hype, but it is basically "Bring it On" for gynastics. Very predictable and nothing really to write home about. Catch it if you are adding it to your netflix queue, but it is not necessary to bump to the top of your list.

John Tucker Must Die

I enjoyed this because that is how I think life should be. Every macho guy thinks he can just do what ever he wants and gets away with it. But the movie it's self is pretty predictable. This movie is good if you just wanna watch something fun that doesn't require much thought.

Mean Girls
Mean Girls(2004)

Mean Girls is a fun and enjoyable movie. People say it is the "Heathers" of the 2000s, but it does not even come close. This is about people who like to stab you in the back or basically just another day in high school.

Bad Santa
Bad Santa(2003)

This movie was just fricking hilarious. The "Badder Santa" version is much better. It had a bit too much f-words from Billy Bob, but over all it had a great story and a great cast. Expect language and sex all over the place.

The Wackness
The Wackness(2008)

I am on the fence here. It had an interesting story, but could not classify to as a comedy or drama. It was okay, the acting was not that great.

Lakeview Terrace

I enjoyed this flick. Samuel L was super pyscho and you knew what his issue was for the beginning. It had a good plot and the acting was good. We were attached to the movie and were wanting to see what happened next and how they would stop him. Good job!

Birds of America

Truly, I just did not get how they could classify this as a comedy. It was slow and did not have that great as a story.

The Muppet Movie

Monsters, Inc.

Red Eye
Red Eye(2005)

The 40 Year Old Virgin

Jurassic Park

I love the Jurassic Park series. Interesting concept and was portrayed very well.

Edward Scissorhands

Visually stimulating. Had a good story and good characters.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Annoyingly happy. It did not follow the book, which was disappointing.

A classic fairytale story that is the basis of all fairytales. Disney is perfection.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

Boring and quite annoying. I don't see what people see in Wallace & Gromit.

Over all, I liked it. it was dark and sassy.

Teen Wolf
Teen Wolf(1985)

Corny and unbelievable. What can you expect from the 80's.

Shallow Hal
Shallow Hal(2001)

I liked this movie. Eventhough it made fun of fat people, deep down inside it has a good premise.

On the fence here. I is freaky cause you spend the whole time going "huh, what" but it makes no sense but you just can't help to watch and stay attached to it.

The Blob
The Blob(1988)

I loved this movie. It was cheesy good fun. Don't take this movie seriously. Have fun and enjoy!

Tales from the Crypt Presents Bordello of Blood

I have tried to watch this over and over again, but can not get through it. Absolutely annoying.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child

Visual effects were awesome in this movie. Story was ok, but it flowed well with the others and if you are a freddy fan this is right up your alley,

The Prince & Me

This was fun. It had a good script, entertaining without being annoying with that whole prince/princess thing.

Mona Lisa Smile

I was bored out of my skull. My girlfriiend wanted to see this, so it was like our 1st date movie. Snor fest. But I still have the girl.

The Bourne Supremacy

I love the whole Bourne trilogy. The whole series flowed well. It was high octane fun.

The Bourne Identity

I love the whole Bourne trilogy. The whole series flowed well. It was high octane fun.

The Bourne Ultimatum

I love the whole Bourne trilogy. The whole series flowed well. It was high octane fun.

Charlie Bartlett

I thought this movie was well thought out and executed. The characters were funny and well developed. It had a good storyline.

Mr. Holland's Opus

I think is destined to be a classic. It has all the makings of one. Great cast, great story, great characters and it can stand up with time. Very excellent movie.

Despite my friends, I really did enjoy it. I know that the story lines may not have occured but it is always interesting to see the ideas that go into true events.

On my tops of favorites. This movie grew on me as I had always enjoyed the second one more. I think it is because there is a lot of down time unlike some of the others. But it is a classic.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

It is kinda hard to follow, but over all it was a nice story. It is one you really have to watch in order to understand. No doing other things while watching.

Happy Feet
Happy Feet(2006)

You start to think that all these cartoons start looking and sounding alike, but here is one that stands out. It was funny and lighthearted. Definately great for families.

I thought that I would not like this because I am not a fan of the epics, but overall it was entertaining and held my interest. Good Story.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

I don't think this was as good as the first two. The action did not get going til the end. It was hard to follow who's side everyone was on and the everything starting getting a little redundant.

High School Musical 2

Once again, over hyped and absolutely horrible.

Bring It On
Bring It On(2000)

fun and entertaining. Good story.

She's All That

Good story of the ugly duckling turned pretty and the "hunk" falls for her. Almost like "Can't Buy Me Love" but in reverse.

Sydney White
Sydney White(2007)

Over all, it was an ok movie. Nothing special but it did not suck.

High School Musical

OMG! This was one of the worst musicals of all time. It is overrated and over hyped.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

This movie was fun because two of the hottest stars in hollywood are there trying to kill each other. The story was awesome, it was action packed and just plain fun.

Although the movie was the basis of one of my favorite movies, this version I just did not like this movie.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2)

Don't think it was as good as the first one, but it was very entertaining and look forward to more. HOTTIE ALERT: Selma Blair.

Dan in Real Life

On our list of movies this weekend was Dan In Really Life. I had been wanting to see this for a couple weeks now and I moviefest began with this one.

Over all I was on the fence with this movie. I had higher hopes for it after seeing Evan Almighty and Little Miss Sunshine. Previews of the movie made we want to see it, but most of the funny was in the previews. I felt the movie had a lot of down time and it did not have that feel good vibe to it that you get from a movie.
Steve Carell played his part perfectly and could ask for better acting for this movie. Diane Wiest, the mother, was charming in the movie. My raspberry goes out to the middle daughter whose story line borderlined on annoying.

Would I recommend the movie to my family and friends? YES. I was entertained by the movie and really wanted to know how it ended.

Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3(2007)

On our weekend of movie watching, we rented 4 movies: Dan In Real Life, The Brave One, Cloverfield and... damn I forgot the other movie. What was that other movie we rented. Racking my brain to figure out what other movie we watch, I came up empty handed. So, I asked Elisabeth and she did exactly what I did and came up with... NOTHING!

After a short period of time being annoyed that we could not remember what movie we watched, we finally figured it out. SPIDERMAN 3. This sums up the whole concept of the review. It was not memorable enough to remember I watched it. Much of the time, I spent asking myself why are there soooo many story lines in one movie. I got lost focusing of Spidy going bad, the sand man coming, the spawn taking over Eric Foreman from That 70's Show, MJ and her neediness and the spat between Peter and his best friend.

I know I have seen all the Spiderman movies now, but again don't ask me about the first or the second. They were just as memorable. So, the plus side of the movie is that is stays in line with the other two... FORGETABLE!

Never Been Kissed

I figured that I would start a my review process with all my favorites. So, I am starting with Drew Barrymore, who has been my top favorite actress since Poison Ivy. Drew is an incredible actress and since here come back has worked hard to stay clean and release good fun movies, like Never Been Kissed.

Never Been Kissed is the perfect romantic comedy in my book. It has all the ingredients for a classic. Not only does this movie make you happy, but it makes you cry and even makes you hate Jessica Alba, which is hard to do since she is so hot (not in this movie though). Drew is cute in this movie (not Charlie's Angels sexy) which helps identify with her character. She was girl who was a nerd in school (which we get to see her in braces) who grows up to be a newspaper writer and goes undercover in a high school to get close to the kids of today. During the movie, we get to see her make fun of herself with just the right amount of slapstick. She has to make friends with the "cool kids" even though she automatically gravitates to the "nerds", falls in love, breaks his heart and even gets high for the first time.

Does it end up with a happy ending for the people who haven't since it? HELLO? It would be a drama if she didn't. Like I said, the perfect romantic comedy.

Freddy Got Fingered

The only reason I even attempted to watch this movie was because of Drew Barrymore, which I am sure the only reason she was in this was for Mr Tom Green. I really think she felt sorry for him. The $13M it made were truly from the Drew fans that hoped it would be decent. We were ALL WRONG!

I think within the first 20 minutes, I was so grossed out and appalled at what was going on in the movie that it set the course for the rest of the movie. Not only did he sexual abuse animals, I felt a little violated myself.

This movie was a big pile of crap that needs to be flushed quickly. My recommendation would be the avoid at all costs.

Riding in Cars With Boys

This movie could be the survival guide to white trash women everywhere, but I really to like this movie even though I am not white trash.
Drew takes on a journey that starts with a mistake of getting hooked up with a loser and gets knocked up. Trying to do the right thing, the get married and it goes downhill from there. She can't finish school because of the baby, honey goes from one job to the next trying to make ends meat and if he would stop drinking there probably would have been money and food. After seeing her life go from good to gutter, all she wants to do is finish school, get a job and try to pull herself on to the street at least and having a kid to care for doesn't help.

So, that is the movie in a nutshell. What I like about it is the fact that it seems like a true story. Nothing seems to have been taken to an extreme to be unrealistic. It is not a happy story and you don't feel good about the movie and the characters. The movie does drag a bit in the middle, but leads you to the emotional end of the movie that will have you and your box of kleenex working over time as Drew and her grown-up son hash out his childhood, which is all worth it. I recommend this movie to chicks...

So eventually I would have to review this movie... By far my favorite Disney movie ever and it just so happens to have Susan Sarandon as a super hottie of a villian.
Disney decided it was time to make fun of itself and it's past by creating Enchanted. Not only can you take a little piece from almost all the "princess" stories that Disney had created, but also threw in some new spice. What does happen when the cartoon world becomes real and has to deal with the modern world. Yes, the movie can be corny at times but it takes a little bit of what an old fashion musical is about (singing and dancing for no reason).

Susan Saradon as Queen Narissa is absolutely fabulous and once again super hottie. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) plays the real life hero and Corney Collins (James Marsden) plays the prince that doesn't get the girl (oops, I spoiled it... or did I???) All the characters and cast flowed perfect with each other and the Blu-Ray edition rocks!!!

The Banger Sisters

Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon work very well together on The Banger Sisters as opposites. Goldie is the still rebellious free-spirit and Susan is the uptight conformed housewife who in their youth used to be groupies for rock bands in the 60's. Their chemistry works throughout the movie because they truly remind you of how you picture them in real life. Plus, it reminds me of my life in way. Me and my friends used to chase the celebrities in the 80's and 90's, I have moved on and my friends really haven't.

The daughters in the movie were really good, Erika Christensen and Eva Amari (Susan's real life daughter). I can't really complain about the movie much, except for the storyline between Goldie and her hitchhicker friend, but you can tell it was needed bring the two girls together. Over all, this is a good fun comedy without the slapstick.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets

I decided to review this one first because I saw it on the list first. National Treasure 2 plain and simple was not as good as the first. It is like geocaching, different treasure, different location, same action... It was fun to watch and it wasn't boring enough to give it a low rating. With this version, I couldn't tell what was historical fact and what was just made up since I am not a history buff.
And just when you think the movies is going to end like 2-3 times, they keep it going on and on. It seemed a bit long. My recommendation would be watch it if you liked National Treasure. If you are on the line about it, they skip the sequel.

Mulholland Drive

I got the movie, things are creepy, I am not sure how they are going to bring it all togehter but understanding the plot... No wait... I AM CONFUSED!
Start to piece it all together... No wait... STILL CONFUSED!

Elisabeth explains the end... I AM STILL CONFUSED!

I don't see what Elisabeth explained. I sorta do, but not really. It seems the movie tries to explain but for average Joe, it leaves you not really getting the concept of the movie. Was I entertained is always the key factor. YES, but in a weird creepy way but that is normal for a David Lynch movie I was told. People just don't act normal. And then all of the sudden BAM! The two girls are getting it on and that always makes lesbians happy and entertained.
The next day I am still a bit confused because I really don't think they explained it well enough for me to go WHOA, that was a twist.

Jumper is one of those movies that keeps you focused throughout the whole movie. Everything is explained throughtout the movie so you don't spend time wonder who everyone is or why they are doing it. I really rooted for the "Darth Vader" (Hayden Christensen) to not get killed and to get the girl.

I don't necessarily think we need to tell you what the movie is about because that spoils the movie if we tell you. But the whole reason I gave this is 6 in the ratings is because of the end. I will say that they never really close any story lines. The ending was like, What? I believe that they thought it was going to be good so they left it open to continue with a part 2. There is no end!!!

Visual effects were good without going overboard, plot was good, characters worked off each other well too... It had the makings of a good adventure movie but fell short in acheiving it.

The Other Boleyn Girl

My history lesson started with Elizabeth and Elizabeth 2, so with finishing those I knew I wanted to continue with "Other Boleyn Girl" especially since it had my girl Natalie Portman in it. I like historical films if they have people I know. I don't want some made up characters back in the old days that I can not reference back. So, this made the Boleyn Girl interesting to me.

The costumes and sets were fabulous and I really did believe I could be watching them as they truly were. I was able to follow the story and the chemistry between the characters was believable. It kept me engaged the whole movie and did not even fall asleep as I usually do at a movie theater and that says a lot of me.

It has been a while since I have seen it, but now that it is out on dvd, I would like to get it Blu-Ray preferred. Definately a keeper for the collection.

Mad Money
Mad Money(2008)

Mad Money had the potential of a good comedy to me. The cast was fabulous. Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie "Cruise" Holmes. Each one on there own can hold a movie on their own, so putting them together was a sure fire success story until you put the evil script in the mix and then it was down hill from there. **spoiler alert ahead**

These three down on there luck girls find a way to trick the system and it worked in movieland. In the real world it would not have been that easy which makes in funny stupid. The girls were not be sneaky, they truly were out in the open which makes all the supporting cast a bunch of morons to not see it and then we they get caught, the don't really get caught. What is that about?

These girls can act, let them act instead of following a long the week script and storyline. I am on the fence of weather to recommend or not. I did enjoy the movie and wanted to see how they did get caught which kept me watching to the end. But if you are excepting a kick ass comedy, it is not this one. Watch for entertainment purposes only.

The Nanny Diaries

The movie idea was good and I heard the book was really good, so I wanted to see this movie. While Scarlett was not hard on the eyes, the movie lacked something. I couldn't get into any of the characters, so it was hard for me to feel any emotion during the movie. It seemed to be a long movie even though it was only 1 hour and half. It was slow moving and did not have me laughing or actually anything but I did not hate it.

Kill Bill: Volume 1

For me, Kill Bill Vol 1 was an excellent combination of great action sequences and just enough campiness to make this movie fun and enjoyable. I really like Quentin and the way he brings together his personal favorite things to make this movie flow without being over the top. He combines cheesy stereotypes, comic books, campy horror effects and a great cast. I really enjoyed this movie.

Kill Bill: Volume 2

The story is too long to tell in one movie and I enjoyed the movies together and I like the fact that you can watch one or the other or both and still be able to understand everything without each other. Vol 2 was all talk and very little action and becomes quite disappointing if you are expecting more of the same from Vol 1, like I was. Vol 2 wraps up the story and finalizes the saga of Uma Thurman's revenge and is a good ending to the story.

Beauty and the Beast

I will say Beauty and The Beast is not my favorite Disney movie, nor is she a favorite Princess. The movie has a good story and the anyone can get lost in the characters and believe that Mrs Potts is actually a teapot. I like the good vs evil of Disney, but didn't really think that Gaston was that evil, he just wanted Belle and would do anything to get her and obviously if the beast had her than he was be evil eventhough he was the good guy in the movie. The lines of who was good and who was evil were blurred, but it is an enjoyable movie.

By far, so far, Fantasia is my favorite Disney movie. Yes, I know, there is not any acting. But, if you think make to when this was made, the technology that was available at the time and to think that each drawing had to be timed perfectly insync with the music, it is truly a masterpiece. Animation is not as easy as lights, camera, action. The music was already written, so it still was not as easy as creating music for a soundtrack. Fantasia is probably one of the hardest movies to review, it is worth it based on the technically aspect and if that is not a reason to see it... well, go it high and watch it. I hear that was the rage in the 60's and 70's.

Fantasia 2000

Understanding that Walt wanted Fantasia to be an ever evolving piece of art that would change with each release, Fantasia 2000 or something like that needed to be made. But the creators behind it did not really see Walt's true vision with this movie. The timing with music never really captured your heart or soul as the original did. It seems that they were just trying too hard and having celebrities announce and explain the sequences just broke up the movie too much and found it hard to get captivated. I would skip this movie, unless you are a Disney fan like me.

Operation Dumbo Drop

I bought this movie because I found a sealed copy on laserdisc and I originally thought this was the movie with Jeanine Garafalo, which is actually "Larger Than Life". But I watched one night while I was alone and I have to say it was not bad. It wasn't great either. The movie was entertaining and it was fun, not necessarily funny though. I did want to find out how there were going to move the elephant, so I had to watch the whole thing.
Recommendable? If you have nothing better to watch, sure go for it. But, don't go out of your way to get it.

Carman: The Champion

I only really watched this movie because of Patricia Manterola. The movie is not all bad, but it is not good either. Released as a Christian movie, it does not have all that much religion in it. The movie is all about doing the right thing and love story. On a personal note by being friends with Patty (Manterola) I have distaste for Carman now that I know how he acted behind the scenes (but that is a different story). It is a movie that almost everyone can live without. Sorry Patty!

The City of Lost Souls (Hyry-gai)

I had trouble following the movie. I watched it only for Patricia Manterola who had a bigger part than I thought she would have. The acting was not good and the violence seemed over done. I am going to blow the ending on this because I really do believe it was the best part. If you are a Patty fan, you must she Patty take a rifle and kill off the main characters. She looks kick ass with a gun. Super Hottie Alert!!!!

Men in Black
Men in Black(1997)

Fun, campy, and not at all serious, this movie was perfect for the time it came out. Although I really dislike Tommy Lee Jones and his voice annoys me, Will Smith makes the movie. He makes fun of himself and has a good time with this movie. I am glad to see it finally coming out on Blu-Ray, so I can get it and retire the laserdisc (which has disc rot).
Overall this is just a entertaining fun movie to have a good time with.

A Star is Born

I really wish I could watch all of the movies again that I am going to give a good review too, especially this one since it has been a long time since I have seen it. I wonder if my dad has this on dvd, but Elisabeth may kill me if she has to sit through this again.
I grew up on Babs, but will not say I am a Babs fan. I love the music in this movie and love to sing a long plain and simple. I guess I could get the same experience if I just by the soundtrack. Over all, I think it is a good movie and enjoy it everytime I watch it. But please over look Babs bad perm job.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

For this being one of my favorite all time movies, I have to give it about a 7 just because if someone is renting it on DVD, chances are they have never seen it live and are going to be disappointed by the movie itself based on the hype over the years of the movie.
The story is weak and it looks like a low budget 70's film, throw in rock music, a little goth and you have Rocky Horror. If you take away the midnight shows and the cult following of 30-50 year olds who like to reinact the film on a stage, you got a campy sci-fi musical that would fade away into the darkness. It truly is because of it's following that Rocky Horror has survived. I first watched this movie when I was in 4 or 5 grade and remember wanted to be in the school talent show using the music to "Toucha Toucha Touch Me". Yes, I a little young for the song but I was just so in awe over the West Hollywood Rocky Horror experience when I was like 10, it became a part of me that I won't go away. I love Rocky Horror and it must be watched at midnight with a cast.

Lilo & Stitch

I fought this movie for a long time and even thought that Stitch was an overrated Disney character that is more about hype than quality. Boy was I wrong. All hail Stitch and the characters in this Lilo & Stitch.
We borrowed this movie from Laura and finally watched it last night. I have to say I have not laughed that hard in a long time from a comedy, let alone an animated movie. At times I wanted to cry too because the story was very well written and you really felt the sadness this characters felt about the loss of family and finding happiness.
The character of Lilo is just like watching a little kid being a little kid. The dialog was well written for her and like I said, you really feel her. Disney did an excellent job with this movie and it is good see a real feel good movie that has great Disney charm.

A Guy Thing
A Guy Thing(2003)

I really was hoping for a better comedy based on the cast. I really like Selma Blair and Julia Stiles, but Selma was just too charming and Julia was just there. Other actors could have filled those roles and still gotten the same effect. I couldn't get involved with any of the characters and really didn't care who got together at the end. I had to add this to my Selma Blair list, so I watched it. But it will be at the bottom. Selma you have done better.

This was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. So far best picture of 2008 for me. I am not a huge action fan in general, but it wasn't a blast everything up movie either. The movie had a great story behind it, each of the characters were well defined and the movie was personable from the start. It had enough humor in it to make the movie down to earth without going overboard and had a twist to the movie that I was not expecting.
It was far better than expected, I almost did not go to the advanced preview.

I remember watching this when it first came out on DVD and having no real clue what it was about. You know Netflix will say if you like this, you should like this. So, I tried it and we sat an watched it and liked it. Without knowing much about the story, we were surprised to find a fun entertaining story about lesbians and not take itself so serious. With that, we bought the DVD and I sat back and watched again about a year or so later and not as entertaining as the first time.
Yes, it is still fun to have decent lesbian fun movies, but when you look at it for review purposes and think about what others would think, etc... It was cheesy and poked fun at all the james bond, inspector gadget or any super spy dectective stories without being slapstick. It is fairly entertaining and and had an original storyline.

Fool's Gold
Fool's Gold(2008)

Boring from the beginning, comedy almost slapstick which is not Matthew's strong point and not much romance to be a romantic comedy. The chemistry between Matthew and Kate was almost non-exsistant. The movie is so predictable that is almost hurt to watch it all. It is a treasure hunt that has all the typical ingrediants: The hero, the competition who comes to the rescue at the end and the bumbling idiots who are trying to get the treasure because they are greedy. There was nothing great about it, nothing to make it stand out but I did not hate the movie either.

The Wedding Singer

The Wedding Singer is probably only one of those movies you would watch if you were killing time for another show to come on, etc... Drew is at her best here in this romantic comedy. Adam is charming, but yet annoying at times. The music is cool if you like the 80's and the movie does not take itself too seriously. It is a fun movie that is entertaining and is one of my favorites of Drew Barrymore.

The Spiderwick Chronicles

Overall I liked the movie. It was pleasing and kept me intrigued and entertained. Everything that a movie is supposed to do. Because of the movie I do want to read the books because I really think that the movie lacked so much information that I think reading the books will explain more.
I was disappointed that the movie never really explained the creatures and how they exsist. We understand that you can see them if they want you to or with magic, but why are they there is a different question. Hopeful that will be answered in the book itself.
Mary Louise Parker for being top billed in this was boring. I think she only has one character and that is the character she is in everything she does. I saw her in her Weeds character except we were not talking about pot. But she was not in it that much, which made it better.

The Ruins
The Ruins(2008)

Not reading the book first, I was impressed with the story line, the characters and the movie in general. I enjoyed it and it kept me intrigued throughout. At times, I did find myself laughing on how cheesy they made the plant look and it reminded me of Little Shop of Horrors and wanted to scream out "Feed Me Seymore". Others in the group who read the book, did not care for it because the changed characters and who got killed and how.

The Eye
The Eye(2008)

I am on the fence about this movie... I enjoyed it, but it could have been soooooooo much better. It was enjoyable, BUT.... is always the key word. Not much more to say on it.

Vantage Point

Personally I enjoyed this movie. I liked the concept of the multiple story lines and how each time you piece together a little more. Kept me interested. The characters were strong and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for another clue. Overall good movie.

Robin Hood
Robin Hood(1973)

I took the time to watch this movie for the first time. Got it on LaserDisc. I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. It was a fun take off the Robin Hood story and Disney did an excellent job creating the characters as animals. Very nice.

I Am Legend
I Am Legend(2007)

OMG! I loved this movie until the end. I do not want to give anything away but I was very disappointed at the end and it made the movie a disappointment. Acting was good, it had a good concept for a disaster film... BUT!

I originally thought this movie would be a downer or something very lame, but I enjoyed every part of this movie and kudos to Reese Witherspoon for producing this really good film. You really did feel for the main character and it shows you how bad the media can be towards "celebrities" or "freaks". Recommendable to all.

My Mom's New Boyfriend

Meg Ryan, Antonio Banderas and Selma Blair (and some guy I can't remember) It was a good comedy cop/robber caper that was enjoyable and fun to watch. Meg Ryan in a fat suit is hysterical. Selma looks super adorable and seem to want to have sex a lot. Gotta love that.

Can't Buy Me Love

Dude... I cry during this movie everytime I see it. Just bought it on DVD and I love it. It is fun to look back and see all the big hair on the girls which is a total 80's thing. But no matter how dated the movie looks, the story is still the same. Geek loves the popular figures out a way to become popular and fails miserably, but ultimately gets the girl in the end and lives happily ever after. This is a total chic flick... A+ in my book.

The Aviator
The Aviator(2004)

I really do love this movie. Not a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio, but this movie enlightened me on the world of Howard Hughes and brought me to appreciate what he accomplished in the world of aviation. The story moved smoothly through his life and did not bore you with unimportant parts. Leonard did a fantastic job with the role. It was a job well done.

She's the Man

Amanda Bynes was the perfect person for this role. With her baby face, she actually became a cute innocent boy. The movie it's self was entertaining and made me laugh quite a bit. It did not have that many slapstick jokes that you think the movie will have. It is a chick flick but for those who like amanda bynes, she is quite hot in this movie. It has become one of my fave amanda movie.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I am on my Amanda Bynes movie review kick, so all the photos from the movies will be of Amanda. I am biased. I saw this movie at the theater opening weekend and I fell in love. I hated the original movie, but as a musical this movie was brought to life for me. All the songs are catchy and by the second time you seem to already know them. I went to the theater to see it about 5 times. Once the DVD came out, that weekend we watched it another 5 times. This has become one of my all time favorite movies. All the cast are perfect in there parts and would not change any of them. And who knew Amanda could sing.

What a Girl Wants

It wasn't a great movie but it wasn't bad either. In the time of teen girl movies, What A Girl Wants comes out ahead. Amanda is so sweet, she makes you love her. The story was not bad but very predictable all the way around. It is a young chick flick, good for some entertainment for girls night in.

Spy Kids
Spy Kids(2001)

Our Spy Kids trilogy starts off where the Juni and Carmen on the run when they find out their parents are spys and they become heroes by saving mom and dad and stopping the evil villians from taking over the world with robot kids. The first movie was super cool and was destined to become a James Bond series for kids. It was very creative story and series.... And goes down hill from there.

Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams

In the second part of Spy Kids Trilogy (just found out it may not be a trilogy any longer), Juni and Carmen are on a mission of there own now that they are Junior Spies. They are off to a mysterious island to again save the world. The movie was not as good as the first one, but better than the last. Mom, Dad and grandparents are involved making the movie a great family movie with some action and adventure.

Spy Kids 3-D - Game Over

The 3-D effects can't save the third Spy Kids film which takes Juni and Carmen into the computer world to save the world from a virus installed in a popular video game that is about to be released to the public. The movie mostly revolves around Juni until towards the end when Carmen comes in the picture and then mom and dad come in at the end to stop a transformer type super villian that has made it's way to the real world. The movie is quite boring overall but the movie storyline could have been better. Had to watch it to finish the trilogy.

21 had it's good points and bad points. Certain places it seemed to lag, but I think those needed to be in there so you could identify with the characters and understand how everything comes into play. The movie kept your interest and loved the twist ending to it. Overall, this was a fun movie to watch.

Previews made me watch the movie and while watching it, I enjoyed the film. I did not see the plot twist in the middle which made it fun... BUT, I was let down with the not so climatic ending. The movie fell short of giving me something to make it worth my watching. I was left with this feeling of "That's it?" Jessica Alba was very cute throughout the movie which helped in this weak suspense movie.

28 Days
28 Days(2000)

This is such a downer of a movie, but the acting is excellent by Sandra Bullock. She is totally on as a alcholic and semi-drug user who goes to rehab and becomes friends with her rehab friends and changes her life after fighting the system. I cry each time I watch it. There are a lot of fun light hearted scenes and again Sandra does a great job.

The Lake House

I found this movie was very hard to follow. Jumping between the present and the past and figuring out how it all could be happening seemed a bit tiring for my brain. The fact that they got together at the end is weird in it's self. Sorry to spoil the ending. But overall it seemed to be a good story, but was not executed very well for us simply minded folk. The casting was good, because who don't like the Sandra/Keanu coupling. But it really did like romance, comedy, drama... it was just there.

Miss Congeniality 2 - Armed and Fabulous

I really believed that they were just trying to hard with this sequel. The played to all the stereotypes that made it unbelievable. The storyline was weak and the characters became more annoying playing everything over the top. A lame sequel to an excellent movie.

Back to the Future

I really enjoyed Back To The Future... maybe it is because I feel attached to the movie. The mall that they used to send Marty to the past was the Puente Hills Mall in La Puente, CA. One night while I was out having dinner with my parents somewhere in 1983-1984, we saw all these lights and trucks. We parked and walked down after someone said they were filming a movie. Awesome to see MJF driving in the my mall parking lot filming this. The concept of the movie was great, the cast was perfect. Too bad the sequels went down hill afterwards.

A Very Brady Sequel

A Very Brady rotten tomato for this sequel. Another movie that tried to hard to live up to it's original. For the original to be over the top with Bradyisms, the sequel takes on a theme that really is not very Brady. Seems that they were extremely there parodies so much that they were dull and unfunny. A skipper even if you are a Brady fan.

We just purchased this on DVD because my girlfriend said it was good. It wasn't bad... but it wasn't great. There were a lot of funny scenes and Brendan plays them off very well. It had a good concept, but some parts were so over the top they were a tad annoying. Overall, it was decent and I would recommend it to Brendan fans.

Blast From the Past

This is in my top films. Great cast and great story. And Alicia Silverstone is just so darn cute in this movie. It was awesome concept that Brendan was perfect for this role, you could really feel how innocent the character was about the outside world. The pairing up of Alicia and Brendan was a great choice, they worked will off each other.

Exit to Eden
Exit to Eden(1994)

You can not go into this movie expecting it to have anything to do with the book, becuase it is so far from it... it is basically not based on the book. Personally I loved this movie and went to the theater like 10 times to see it. Must of the times I was alone with no one else in the theater. I think Rosie O made this movie soooooo much. Without her, it would have been a bit on the dull side. I really need to buy this movie, it would make me happy. It was because of this movie that I read the book to see the differences because I heard the Anne Rice did not like what they did to it. I can see why, but I don't think it would have translated well to film without the comedy sidekicks.

The Silence of the Lambs

This was an excellent movie (and series). Jodie Foster was awesome in this role, though I prefer Julianne Moore in the sequels. There is not much to say about this, but it was suspensive without being graphic. I own this on Laser Disc. Awesome movie overall.

The Screaming Skull

I really do not know how to even give a movie like this a tomato number. So, 5 it will be for neutral. On our Drive-In Horror movie night, first up is The Screaming Skull. Just the name itself is a reason to watch it first. There is a skull lurking in the garden, the fountain and ironically enough, knocking on your door. When you open the door, it WILL rolling in by itself and has a horrible high pitched scream to it. So, beware the next time you open your door, there may be " A SCREAMING SKULL" MUAAAAA!!!!!

Friday the 13th

Review from a 9 year old seeing the movie at the drive-in with her sister and dad in 1980: Holy shit... I was scared out of my mind. This movie was so frigging scary that I was tramatized and had to have my mom look under my bed because I was so afraid there was someone under it with a knife. I became afraid of the dark and it had to be the best horror movie out there, because it did it's job.

Review as an adult: Ok, so why was I so afraid of this movie til I was a 30 year old adult. This was lame, it was built up in my head from a child that this was that terrifing. But after building up the courage to try this movie again (especially since I love horror movies since high school), I realized that there is nothing to this movie. No plot, just a lot a slicing and dicing. I rate this a 6 because if you are impressionable, it will scare the crap out of you, but really it is just lame.

Nim's Island
Nim's Island(2008)

While the movie seemed to be fun and family entertaining, it lacked a "high seas island adventure". It seemed to drag on and found myself waiting for the climax to happen and it really never did. There were many funny parts which is why I gave it a higher rating, but it lack substance for me but would likely be entertaining for a young teen/tween.

Watching the Detectives

The back of the dvd box looked like it would be a cute movie. Mostly it just made me want a video store of my own. Overall, the plot was weak, the acting was not that good, and quite boring... there were some funny parts, but not enough to lift it's rating.

Entertaining... Some what original. It was typical John Woo movie and you can see classic scenes that are his signature. After watching this again after almost 10 years, we can see small parts by James Denton from Desperate Housewives, Margaret Cho and Danny Masterson from That 70's Show fame. It is a good movie for Saturday night with chips, soda (or beer) and THX sound. Laser Disc is awesome!!!

Smart People
Smart People(2008)

Honestly, I was a tad bored during this. The movie really shows you how dumb smart people are. There is book smarts and common sense smart. These book smart people really are dumb in this and can't see past there face. They can't interact with each other and they director seemed to point that our very well. So, in that case... it was good. The movie seemed to drag and I was hoping for something major to happen, but nothing really did. So, I will disappointed since it had a decent RT community rating.

Lon: The Professional

MOvie was slow moving... but just as I was ready to move on, the movie picked up and turned into a really good movie. So, give it a chance. You will like the end.

Lucky Number Slevin

The beginning of the movie seemed that we were going to be getting a comedy, but it turned into a decent gangster movie. The twists were good, but kinda knew where it was going. It was much better than we thought it would be.

Surf's Up
Surf's Up(2007)

This was a lot better than we thought. It jokes were right on and it had a great story. Did not know it would be like the making of a documentary, but it fit the movie and was very enjoyable. good job!

Jack and Jill vs. the World

Why do romantic movies need to be such downers? Typical boy with attachment issues, meets girl who is carefree. They fall in love, but girl got secret. Girl sick (dying) tells boy. Boy gets mad, girl leaves. Boy realizes he is a jerk. Boy searches for girl, apologizes. Boy and Girl happy again. Bla Bla Bla

Goya's Ghosts

I am agreeing with the majority of the RT gang. The movie was just ok. I got lost at the end with who was who, spain, brits, french... all just so confusing. And I really didn't feel for what happened to Natalie because once she was in jail, they kinda just ignored her and moved ahead like 15 years. I was bored at times and really wanted it to speed up. And the movie didn't seem to end, it just faded away. Not impressed.

When is the scariness going to happen? All the best parts were shown in the preview. The movie was not scary, not even a little. The premise of the movie was good. Good story and actors were good. But it just was not scary enough.

Be Kind Rewind

Besides Jack Black being annoying, the movie was fairly ok. There were some cute scenes and it had a decent storyline. Too bad they did not actually make the bonus features that actually full movies they made for Ghostbusters and Rush Hour2. I would have like to have seen if the actually were allowed to stay or not. I am assuming they did not get to stay, but they sold the rights to the movie they made and now own West Coast Video. That is my take on the end, but who knows because the movie never told us how it ended.

Bernard and Doris

Susan Sarandon gave an excellent performance as well as her co-stars, although the story lacked emotion, intrige or anything else. It was just a movie. I couldn't feel for the characters nor was I captivated by the story to keep my interest. I don't feel I would have lost anything if I would have given up half way through. I give it mid range rating just because Susan Sarandon was quite hot in this movie.

It has been a while since I have seen this movie but I do remember that it was good. I am not going to say much about it...

Batman Returns

Reviewing this movie about a year after I watched it. Going through the laserdiscs and I have started my Batman saga. Michelle Pfeiffer was awesome at Catwoman and The Penguin character was cool. Storyline was good, it was a good sequel to the first one. Now, off to Batman Forever!!!

Batman Forever

This episode of the Batman saga got a tad boring around disc 3 of my laserdisc. I think they were trying to bring back many of the TV show Batman jokes, using the background music as to give it that TV sound mixed with big Hollywood flair. Jim Carrey was good as the Riddler and so was Tommy Lee Jones. Chris ODonnell is definately good as Robin, but Val Kilmer, not so hot as Batman. Need to find B&R on Laserdisc if I can to continue my series.

I so did not want to watch this movie when Elisabeth brought it home, but I decided that I would give it a shot. I enjoyed it despite not liking Nicholas Cage. The movie had a good story line and Julianne Moore is super hot in this movie. And we love Julianne Moore. It is definately a movie you have t pay attention to, it was face paced and action packed. Good combo when dealing with Mr Cage.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Just re-watched on blu-ray and I would say I enjoyed it a little more this time. It really does seem long. Many times I wanted it to be over. Johnny Depp is awesome in it, action sequences are excellent. CGI is cool on blu-ray, just a bit too long for my taste.

Mamma Mia!
Mamma Mia!(2008)

This was absolutely horrible. How can an academy award winning actress be proud to be in this. The musical numbers were in all the wrong places and moments. The biggest dance number was in the middle of the movie and it is an embarrassment when Merrill Streep is jumping (not dancing) around and throwing herself on the floor. None of the actors could sing. Maybe the movie just doesn't translate well.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

I enjoyed this movie. I liked the story line, it was easy to follow. Don't need to watch the others to get into this. It was non stop action fun which is always good.

War, Inc.
War, Inc.(2008)

Movie was interesting, saw tons of previews for it and wanted to see it. Rented it and it was not bad. It made fun of all the stuff going on in the war but did it in a way that it was not slap stick. I enjoyed it, but would not necessarily recommend it.

The Dark Knight

It was totally awesome. Heath was awesome and our friend Zak wanted to roll around in a pile of Maggie's dirty underwear. The storyline was good, it was fast moving. Long but you did not realize it because it was nonstop action packed fun.

Independence Day

So, I rewatched the movie on laser disc and thought it was so much better than I remembered. The THX rumbled the room and the special effects were decent for 96. I enjoyed watching it last night.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2)

I knew nothing about Xfiles and was able to follow the movie. I enjoyed the storyline and wouldn't mind checking out the tv show.

Casino Royale

For my first Bond film, I was impressed. It was action packed and had a good story line. I like him as Bond. Good job.

Chapter 27
Chapter 27(2007)

This movie was incredible. It keep me engaged the whole movie. I rented it for Lindsay, but I became interested in the story that I wanted to find out more about the killer.

The Great Mouse Detective

It is not bad. Has a fun story line. Love the fact that they smoke and drink and get drunk and drug other mice. Cats eat mice and it is all Disney family fun. Gotta love it!

Torch Song Trilogy

I think I have seen this movie over 100 times. We went to the movies in West Hollywood to see it every friday and saturday night. The cast is superb, the story is great and I cry every freaking time.

Batman Begins

Thanks to Chad, I was able to watch Batman Begins before the Dark Knight comes out on tuesday. I have to say, I like the fun Batman movies, more than the serious. But it was good to see where he came from and how everything fell together to become Batman. What I don't understand is that I thought the Joker killed his parents.
This movie was a tad long and me having a headache during it did not help... Over all, I liked it but didn't love it.

Kung Fu Panda

I have always been anti-dreamworks and tend to not watch any of them. But since my cousin started working there, I decided to give it a chance. I have to say I enjoyed the movie. It was funny, great script. Timing was good. Characters good. I like that fact that they are making them PG and not everything G rated like Disney. I liked the fact that you really had no clue on the voices until the credits. Going in to the movie, I had no idea who read for it and I like it like that. And had to watch the whole credits to see Morgan's name. YEAH! I guess, I am going to have to watch more Dreamworks movies.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2

OMG, this movie seemed to go on forever. It was not as good as for the first. The characters become unlike about and you were not moved by anything that happened. But the time it was over, you were glad the pants were gone. YEAH NO THIRD MOVIE!!!

Primal Fear
Primal Fear(1996)

I had not thought I had seen this, but there were many familiar scenes. Edward Norton is awesome in this movie. He has you going and going and you really feel for him. But then... It is awesome!!!

Cute movie for the 80's, if you watch it now it is probably a waste. It had it's place in history.

The Craft
The Craft(1996)

This movie is awesome. What is better than hot chicks that are witchy. Neve Campbell is super hot and that is all the reason to watch this.

Kindergarten Cop

It was okay. Nothing special here. I don't understand why they always think that taking an action hero and placing him is childish movies is actually funny.

Big Momma's House

Boring and not really funny. Martin Lawrence got on my nerves from the moment it started. Bad humor and bad taste.

Beverly Hills Cop II

First one was good, second was just average. If you saw the first, you have seen all the rest. Nothing new.

This was a good movie, very suspensful and kinda creepy. Like it! Who doesn't like psycho stalker films.

Not funny at all. Totally forgot this movie even exsisted. And again, why do they think Arnold is funny and comedic is slapstick roles.

Scary Movie 3

The higher the #, the worse the movie. The first one was funny, but by the time they got here, it was just tasteless and over done.

Ice Age
Ice Age(2002)

I thought the Ice Age movies were just hysterical. We laughed through them the whole time. Great personalities for the animals and good storyline.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

The special effects were great on this. I enjoyed the movie, it was very entertaining and kept my interest.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I enjoyed this romantic comedy. The jokes were right on, the timing was excellent with the actors. It had a good storyline. The characters/actors seemed to work well together. And who don't like seeing Jason's wee wee. The inside jokes were funny with Kristen Bell's movie career.

Lucky You
Lucky You(2007)

Honestly, this has to be one of the boringest movies of Drew's adult career. Plots and story was just dull. Nothing exciting happened and I just sat there waiting for it to be over.

My Date With Drew

Clever concept and they pulled it off in a manner that did not make it look cheap and homemade. The guy who put this together had the idea, he was personable and made us root for him to get his date. It shows that anyone with determination can make a documentary, but also shows that with an imagination anyone can become a stalker too.

The Abyss
The Abyss(1989)

Going through our laserdisc collection, we came across the Abyss. I had never seen it before. The movie is slow moving, but over all it was very entertaining. It did not seem fake as must underwater movies do.

Another Stakeout

Again, another laserdisc we watched. Not as entertaining as the first one. The jokes are starting to get old and adding Rosie in the mix did not help on bit. It actually may have made it worse. The storyline was a blah and did not hold our attention well.

Benny & Joon
Benny & Joon(1993)

Up there with my top movies, Benny & Joon is a great romantic comedy with a bit of drama thrown in the mix. Johnny Depp, of course, is fabulous. Now, I am not one of those girls who think anything Johnny Depp is in is wonderful. Actually, I really don't like him much. I think he is a good actor, but he ain't all that. The storyline was good and the characters fit each other.

The Birdcage
The Birdcage(1996)

Originally when I saw this movie, I thought it was funny. But rewatching it after we purchased on laserdisc and I was a bit older, not so much. It has a few good moments, but I hate that they truly were making fun of gays and only show the side of the flaming queens. I am sure that they had to use the extremes to make it "funny" but the jokes are all over done and they stereotyped all the characters. I was bored half way through it and the adding Christine Baranski in it for the little singing moment did not help.

The Boy Who Could Fly

I have always liked this movie. It is the perfect after school special or family movie night. It is a touching romantic story of wholesome teens. Nothing dramatic really happens, but you do cry happy tears at the end. And you really want to say, "yeah!!!!!" But it could be boring for someone who likes conflict or a villian of some type. Just plain boring kids.

Boys on the Side

Totally a chick flick if ever. It is about friendships and the bonds between women that are very hard to figure out. Whoopi is good in this dramatic role as a lesbian. Drew is her sweet charming self. But for the life of me, I just can not stand Mary-Louise Parker in anything. I love Weeds, but hate her. I don't know what it is. The movie is sad, happy and all in between. It has everything you need for the perfect chick flick.

The Brady Bunch Movie

Depending on how you look at this movie, it either will suck and be good. On the Brady Bunch side, it is true homage to the show and what it represents. Take what you want from it, they brought the Brady's in to the 90's not as adults but as they were in the 70's. What might have been cool then is not in the 90's and Greg is not "big man on campus", so they are adding the reality of what is real. Because of this, it makes the Brady's seem dumb and moranic. But the movie was not to be taken seriously. It was a fun celebration of the show and the characters and they fact that the cast supported this and can make fun of themselves and the show today is great. Movie wise, it sucked in plot, storyline and everything else. I am a Brady Fan and loved it.

The House Bunny

I hate the critics have to disect everything... Why can't a movie just be fun without a purpose. This is exactly what it is. I don't think this movie was created to win any awards, especially an Oscar. But what it did give was lots of "this is so stupid" laughs. I usually enjoy a comedy without a lot of laugh out loud parts, but this almost made me bust a gut at times. Go into this movie with being entertained and not looking for some deep meaning. It is a feel good funny movie that I thought would be crap but wasn't.
HOTTIE ALERT: Kat Denning after the make over.

The Client
The Client(1994)

I am not a fan of legal dramas but on our Susan Sarandon film festival, we pulled out our laserdisc copy of The Client. The storyline kept us intriged and engaged the whole way through. It seemed a tad long, but you had to stay with it to find out what happened next. It moves slow, but worth it.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

For when it was made and what it was about, the movie had a lot of good points to it. It was slow and never really picked up with an adventure sense. It is more drama than what I consider SciFi. I remember seeing this when I was younger, but I guess I had built up something more in my head and therefore, I was disappointed in the movie as a whole.

A pointless movie of what was to be so 95. The characters were shallow and oblivious to the real world and that is what we loved about them. They were to be like that cause it shows us how the world really is. This is how the average teen thinks, which makes the film brillant.
HOTTIE ALERT: Alicia Silverstone and Brittany Murphy...

I feel the critics are wrong on this movie. Just in the tradition of Jurassic Park, Michael Crichton takes us on a journey to a remote location where things are going whacko. This time with Gorillas. I was engaged the whole movie and it made me want to read the book. It had a good story and was wanting more.

Dead Poets Society

Bored throughout the movie. Way too long. Couldn't relate to any of the characters.

Never thought about even watching this movie until Elisabeth bought it for me on laserdisc. It was a cute movie with a good premise. It flowed well, it was funny and had that bit of romance in it which is a winning combination.

Simple and a fun loving story that help created Disney's line of classic stories. Perfect for families with young kids.

The Elephant Man

It made no sense to me, I was bored and lost.

Probably on the top of my favorite lists. It was intense at times, it kept me intriged and it was fun. And I love the way they talk, "Oh Yah Eh".

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Who don't love this movie. It is the anthem for anyone who plays hookie from work or school. The cast is brillant. Fun and entertaining movie.

The First Wives Club

Another coming of middle-age movie for housewives everywhere. Funny, delightful flick that makes you either love or hate your husband.

Fools Rush In

Matthew Perry will always be Chandler Bing. But the movie is a cute romantic comedy and makes your smile and cry and want to fall in love. Ok, a chick flick but who cares. It was good and entertaining.

Fried Green Tomatoes

Chick flick alert... This is a heartwarming story of friendship that stands the test of time. I am not sure why I always find this movie in the gay/lesbian section because it is more friendship that lesbian love. We assume it is, but whatever. Keep your hankies around.

Grease is the word. Fun upbeat romantic musical with catchy songs. It makes you want to jump up on your car and say "It's Greased Lightening". I have loved this movie since I was a kid and it has not lost it's power over the years.

Moonlight Mile

I hate giving a Susan Sarandon film a low score but this really was not good. The attire movie was blah. None of the characters had any personality. If I were friends with this people, I would be sucked into the black abyss of annoyingly boring/downer lives. Yes, I know... There daughter died, blah blah blah. At least make some characters that have substance.

I really liked this movie. I liked the acting, the characters, the story, the way it was filmed. It did seem to drag a bit, but the movie flowed well and it finished it's self, and was complete. That could be a down fall, because I wasn't left with wanting more.
HOTTIE ALERT: Susan Sarandon is absolutely beautiful in this movie and she plays the character well.

Debbie Downer all the way, but remains a good movie in it's self. I always had said that I did not like the movie, but have watched it three times and each time I find more reasons I do like it. It is sad and you should have some hankies around.

Romance & Cigarettes

We were not fond of this movie. Although it seemed a bit funny and corny at times, we found ourselves bored and really wanted to turn it off, but did not.

Atlantic City

This is a good hold your attention movie. You feel like you know and understand your characters and they stuff that they are going through which makes a good movie.

Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys)

Not being a Brad Pitt fan, this is may be his best role yet. He is great as a crazed psycho. And I think Bruce Willis may just like making movies where he can show his butt.
The movie is a bit confusing with all the jumping back and worth but it is well worth it. The film has held up with time, and does seem to dated yet.

The Fall
The Fall(2006)

At first, I was a little put off by this movie. It was corny and at times a bit annoying. But as it played on, you could understand what it was all about and you could really start to feel for the characters. Visually stimulating, the story telling sequences were amazing. Over all, I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Just finished watching on Blu-Ray (rental, no 3D glasses). There are a lot of lost effects by watching 2D version. It is definitely a movie geared towards young boys. We were a little disappointed to not have any villain in the movie and there was not much of a back story. Without seeing the original first, there would be some things you might not get or understand. They talk more about "Max" a character that connects the new people to the earth, but they don't tell you much about original scientist that discovered it from the first movie and how apparently that was the start of the book. Overall, it was not bad. Maybe it was ruinned from watching the original first. I did not seem to be on the edge of my seat during it.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Corny for 2009 (wow, weird saying that) standards, but over all I enjoyed the movie. I could have lived without Pat Boone singing and taking off most of his clothes. Special effects were up with the times, we loved the blood coming from the lizards mouth. Now on to the blu-ray 2008 version.!!!

Normally movies that jump from storyline to storyline annoy me... But the how they all came together made sense and was very good and keep my interest throughout. The acting was excellent and for once I did not dislike Brad Pitt. Too bad this was not released on laserdisc, I would want to own it. I guess I might have to break down on get dvd or blu-ray here.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I really enjoyed this Indiana Jones movie, the suspense was high and I was kept on my toes. Didn't fall asleep once. Parts were predictable, but what movie isn't now a days. Cate Blanchette was fun as the villian. I also liked how the had little cameo from items of the last movies. Totally enjoyable. Can't wait for the blu-ray box set.

Ghost Town
Ghost Town(2008)

I was disappointed in a potentially good movie. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. It started out funny with a good storyline, but then just got boring and kind of a downer. The studio classified this as a romantic comedy, but not once did I even remotely want or think they would get together and truly at the end they did not, they foreshadowed a get together, but you never see it thus failing in the romance "Yea" or "awwww" factor. Elisabeth begged to differ and wanted to give this movie a 7 - 7 1/2. But I could not reach that far.

Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye(2008)

A lot of big names where in the computer gone bad movie. At first you are going "huh?" but once through half the movie you figure out what it is all about and it starts making sense. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and holds your attention. There is not much down time throughout the movie, which I like.

Burn After Reading

In tradition of Fargo, the Coen Brothers deliver a good piece of work. It has it funny moments but keeps you going because you have to just find out how it ends up. The acting was good and a little over the top and you gotta love when people just lose it and you don't get why.

I never watched Carrie in the 70's or the 80's or even the 90's. I watched the remake and was told I needed to watch the original. Looking at it being made in the 70's, I could see how people could be afraid of that. For the time, it was a good movie. I will give it that. But now, not so much. It is not a movie that stands up through time.

Pump Up the Volume

A rare jem that became more popular years after it was released on video. Christian Slater's best acting next to "Heathers" is right here. The writing for this movie was incredible and his speeches that he gave were awesome. You felt like you were there and could relate to everything he was saying. This (to me) was a movie for my generation.

Falling Down
Falling Down(1993)

I have always liked this movie for some reason. Just got this on laserdisc over the weekend and was so happy I found it. Come to find out Elisabeth (my girlfriend) had never seen it. So, she picked it out to watch tonight. I love watching Michael Douglas fall off the deep end. I wonder if he says to Catherine Zeta-Jones, "Don't you remember Honey, til death do us part" and give her the evil eye.
It is suspenseful without the adrenaline pumping and keeps your attention as you want to see what happens.

Jaws: The Revenge

I was obsessed with this movie when it came out. I had an inflatable promo shark that hung from my ceiling, cut out magazine ads, etc. I loved it and it added Michael Caine to one of my favorite male actors. But as I rewatch the movie as an adult, I realized that the screenplay was crap. The special effects suck... The machanical shark at Universal is better than what we see on the screen. The storyline was corny and unbelievable, I could have done better. But because it is part of the JAWS stable, you gotta love it. Or do I???

Jaws 3
Jaws 3(1983)

I may get challanged about my rating of this movie, but oh well. I really liked this movie. The 3D effects at the movie theater were not that great. It seems that they just took a scene and say "Let's throw something at the audience, like a leg". It was cheesy, I have to say and it actually scared me enough to never want to eat at an underwater restaurant ever again.

The fence is where I am on this. At first, I was annoyed by it because the camera just moved too much and could not focus on who and what was moving. As the movie played on, I finally started to figure it all out and it was turning into a pretty good movie. Then out of nowhere, the plot twists so bad that I had no clue of what was going on and who was who and what they were trying to tell me. I don't think I ever really figured it out.

The Women
The Women(2008)

At times it was funny, at times it was sad. This is a coming of middle age movie about a group of women who think they have the perfect life until they all hit a speed bump in their lives. Husband cheats, losing a job, getting pregnant, etc. And of course, if you throw a spicy latina in the mix you get a movie that is entertaining, although the characters really did not get that developed. I think the highlight of the movie was Jada Pinkett Smith who played a damn good lesbian (it was believable at times).

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

I watched this movie once when it came out of DVD, but with the release of the blu-ray box set we had to rewatch the trilogy. As the movie began, nothing seemed familar. As it progressed somethings seem like I had seen them before before it was like watching for the first time again but with a better appreciation for the movie.
The movie seemed to drag on a bit and I could see times that they could have cut it short or found scenes that could have been left out. But over all, the movie is fun and action packed. Jack Sparrow was not as annoying as the first one and you can find out the history of Orlando Bloom's character. Everyone seemed to have a good time filming it and blu-ray is the way to go on this movie. I recommend the higher quality cause the sound and picture are amazing.

The Pirate Movie

I don't know what it is about this movie, but I really do like it. The musical numbers are corny but entertaining. It was not to be taken serious.

The Flintstones

This is one of those movies that you can not take serious. We all knew that eventually they would have to live action the cartoon. The casting I think was well for the main characters but did not like the some of the others like Halle Berry. Over all it was entertaining and you gotta love how the created the scenes.
