Joe's Review of Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Trek Into Darkness(2013)
To boldy go where no one has gone before. Star Trek Into Darkness leaves the famous line to the end of the movie, maybe it chooses to go to all the old familiar places instead. But like that favorite, worn down, old fleece, it's a nice place to go, comfortable; pleasant. And JJ Abrams does take us there in ways never seen before. The film is visually stunning, especially in Imax 3-D. I was left with the typically geeky Trekkie questions, like if you have transporters, why do you need hover cars? And if you have hover cars, why do you need roads? Maybe for the buses that still roll around on wheels? But why have those? I have no idea. And if you have anti-gravity hospital beds to move patients around, why do you need fork lifts on wheels to move crates around? But those are silly, trekkie, questions. I did love the film and it's a worthy addition to the Star Trek lore.
