The movie does a remarkable job of conveying the lengths to which the Catholic Church went to cover up the misdeeds of its priests without sensationalizing the reporters themselves that broke the story. Everyone present turns in a solid performance. Important, terrific film.
A good but safe start to the new trilogy. New characters are interesting and old faces all give solid performances. Only knock on it is that, if you're familiar with the original trilogy, the plot is laughably predictable. However, new age Star Wars fans will love this movie.
One of the very best action films ever made, Fury Road is a testament to what all movies should strive to be: A medium so creative it transports us to places our minds couldn't even possibly conceive themselves. The post-apocalyptic world and society in the film is fascinating to examine, and the action sequences that take place within them will have audiences' collective jaws on the floor for the two hour non-stop thrill ride. A 21st century masterpiece.
This movie is really depressing. Some people will tell you that that's what makes it so good, but I just found it to be an extreme downer about a guy who's kind of an asshole that appears to be justifiably down on his luck and lacking direction in life. The music in the movie is fantastic but that's really about it.
