Chris' Review of For Your Eyes Only
For Your Eyes Only(1981)
I'm going to be the odd one out and say that 'For Your Eyes Only' is the best Bond film to star Roger Moore. Now, I did very much enjoy 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and I'll always appreciate it for what it is, but this film just seems to have so much more for Moore to work with than earlier and before his downfall. The film's locations are some of the best and most elegant I've seen in a Bond film still to this day. The action sequences are gripping and the film overall has a much darker aspect to it unlike Moore's original films and this overall seriousness and darker tone really work a lot better as Eon films would soon learn later on. The villain of this film while not anything really spectacular or memorable, is a very sinister more down to earth that really works with this film. A negative to say about the film is that the film does run a bit too long for its own good and the Bond girl of this film is not that interesting which is only a problem because she's a major part of the story. These are minor nitpicks however and the film overall is a great addition to the 007 legacy. Fans and action junkies alike should pick this one up right away.
