Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Another Pirates film and another Depp Jack Sparrow performance...wash, rinse, repeat. Not a terrible movie by any stretch but also offers nothing really new to the franchise or genre. I guess I'm just a sucker for swashbuckling adventure period films but this one is just another one in the pile. I will say the visual effects were outstanding but not a movie you'll remember Monday or have water cooler talk about.

Hands down on of the years best. Jeff Bridges should get a Oscar nomination for his role. All the actors were at the top of their game. A must see.

This is what happens when you get the writer and director of such gritty movies like Training Day and Fury to do a movie based on a dark comic but because of the reception on Batman vs. Superma and Man of Steel, to force some fun and humor into it and what happens is the classic case of the wrong man for the wrong job. You can tell the reports of Trailer Park editing are pretty accurate. The forced soundtrack of odd pop songs is jarring and doesn't quite fit the scenes. The "Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up"....really? Now there are some positives like Deadshot and El Diablo, thats pretty much it. The Enchantress and the Ghostbusters 2 ending was quite the head scratcher. DC/WB failed to live up to the hype and expectations again but instead gave you a mediocre Summer blockbuster. Wonder Woman we are all looking at you to deliver the goods now.

The Legend of Tarzan

A good time albeit a silly paper thin plot story at times. Probably the best big screen adaptation of Edger Rice Boroughs character which is not saying much since the Disney animated movie was the best one to till now.

Independence Day: Resurgence

This is the dumbest movie of the millennium. After we got to know the characters, I was rooting for the aliens to win. After the movie, I left the theater more stupider then before.
