      • The Man With the Iron Fists 2
The Man With the Iron Fists 2 (2015)

MAN WITH THE IRON FIST 2 review by: Mike Smith Thaddeus The Blacksmith (RZA) is back in this action adventure inspired by Kung-Fu classics. A reluctant villager joins forces with a mysterious outsider to fight off powerful evil forces, both earthly and otherworldly, in a 19th century Chinese mining town. Let me start by saying I didn't mind the first Man With The Iron Fist movie; it was a nice Kung-Fu action Grindhouse movie but it was forgettable. Besides the start of the film, Man With The Iron Fist 2 shys away from the Grindhouse feel of the first film and focuses more on the Kung-Fu genre. One thing I was disappointed about is that this films story isn't really based around the adventure of Thaddeus The Blacksmith. The story is about a minor who must save his village with the help of Thaddeus The Blacksmith. Man With The Iron Fist 2 just helps build the legend of Thaddeus The Blacksmith a bit more, so don't expect just to watch RZA whoop ass through the whole film like the first one. I'm not the biggest Kung-Fu movie fan but I really enjoyed myself. The fight scenes are really well done and kept me wanting more. The story is a classic stand up to evil story and this film tells it well. Unlike the first film, there are not a lot of big named stars in this movie, but it doesn't take away from the film. Everyone does a great job in Man With The Iron Fist 2 and it feels like a love letter to classic Kung-Fu films. But like all films, Man With The Iron Fist 2 does have some flaws, like the use of modern day lingo. You kind of forget that everyone is supposed to be in 19th century Chinese, even though it takes you out of the film I find it part of the charm. The music is all rap and/or big rap beats; I'm not by far a rap fan and yes I know RZA is a rapper so I knew what to expect and I enjoyed the beats and the scores. Man With The Iron Fist 2 is not a top shelf movie but I did enjoy it even though it's not what I was expecting after seeing the first film 3 years ago. This film is strongly forgettable but has some fun lines of dialog. If you want to watch something a bit different and turn your brain off for 90 minutes check this out and no you don't need to watch the first film to watch this one. Cheers and remember like won't suck as long as there is a good movie to watch. 6 out of 10 Edited by Samantha Locke

      • The Boss
        The Boss (2016)

THE BOSS review by FAT Mike A titan of industry is sent to prison after she's caught insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America's latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget. With Gary Sanchez Productions (operated by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay) I had a glimpse of hope that this film wasn't going to be like other Melissa McCarthy movies like Tammy, The Heat, Identity Thief......I WAS WRONG, The Boss was just like the others. There were some good, cheap laughs but most of them I didn't care about and the jokes mostly fell flat. The first 5 minutes was the best, the rest of the time I struggled not to turn off the movie. The cast was better than main star Kristen Bell, Tyler Labine, Kristen Schaal but the one that made me laugh most of all was Peter Dinklage but not even he could save this movie. The Boss tries too hard to be funny and is a forgettable movie (thank god). I hope one day we will get a good new Melissa McCarthy because I'd rather get a prostate exam from Captain Hook than watch another mediocre Melissa McCarthy movie. Cheers and remember I watch bad movies so you don't have too 3 out of 10 Edited by Samantha Locke follow at @FatMikeTPK

        Punk's Dead: SLC Punk 2 (2016)

PUNK'S DEAD: SLC PUNK 2 review by Mike Smith Ross, Penny and Crash go on a road trip to attend a punk show. Ross shreds his dark Gothic outlook and starts embracing life when the gang is on the road. Seventeen years after the first SLC Punk film we get a sequel. Being a big fan of the first film I was apprehensive about this because sequels are not always good. SLC Punk 2, I F**KING LOVED IT! The movie is a classic finding yourself/letting go film and just like the first movie this one touched me. Coming from an underground background and being older.... Seventeen years older since I first saw the first film, I connected with the young cast and related to the returning older cast. This cast is great, Ben Schnetzer (Ross), Richard Colson Baker "Machine Gun Kelly " (Crash) and Hannah Marks (Penny) work well together! They have great chemistry and are able to create a blooming friendship on screen that doesn't feel forced. But one of the best things about this film is that some of the old cast is back, like Trish (Sarah Clarke), Sean (Devon Sawa), Eddie (Adam Pascal) and best of all John The Mod (James Duval ). It's awesome to see what these characters have been up to and how they have changed in the last Seventeen years, it's like seeing old friends. The whole story is narrated and hosted by the dead heroin Bob and he has not changed since the last time we saw him. The music in this film is good but not as awesome like the first film... but times do change and I still like it. One thing that I really liked about SLC Punk 2 is that we get the young spirit from the new cast; I connected with the thing that happened in their adventure and it reminded me of going to my first punk show which changed my life forever. I also relate to the older cast being a older person myself. Now you may not walk away feeling the same way I did but I highly recommend seeing this film. A great story, an awesome cast, a fun adventure and proof that there are good sequel. Cheers and remember life won't suck as long as there is a good movie to watch. 9.5 out of 10 Edited by Samantha Locke facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FatMikesMovieReviews/ twitter @FatMikeTPK

      • Freaks of Nature
        Freaks of Nature (2015)

FREAKS OF NATURE review by Mike Smith "FAT Mike" In the town of Dillford, humans, vampires and zombies were all living in peace until the alien apocalypse arrived. Now it's up to three teenagers, a human, a vampire, and a zombie to survive and bring peace to the once quiet town. Humans, vampires, zombies and aliens oh my! This movie sounds not only ridiculous but like a lame train wreck, but it's not in anyway! Freaks Of Nature picks up and goes at the very start. This unique movie had me laughing from start to finish. This film has an awesome cast of up and comers including Nicholas Braun (Red State), Mackenzie Davis (That Awkward Moment) and Josh Fadem (Miss March). They work really well together and quickly become these characters that you end up loving. The rest of the cast is made up of some well known people; Denis Leary, Bob Odenkirk, Keegan-Michael Key, Joan Cusack, Ian Roberts, Rachael Harris and the funny Patton Oswalt. The whole cast is funny and works amazingly well together. Unlike films similar to Caddyshack where the bigger named stars over power the smaller named actors, Freaks Of Nature doesn't do this and the main cast is the focus. This film has some good practical effects although the C.G. is a bit cheesy, but it gives the film charm. One thing that makes me grade this movie so high is as soon as I finished watching Freaks Of Nature I wanted to watch it again right away. With an awesome cast, ridiculous unique story, laugh out a loud comedy and an all around fun ride I have to say Freaks of Nature is my first must see film of 2016. So sit back and enjoy; cheers and remember live won't suck as long as there is a good movie to watch 9 out of 10 Edited by Samantha Locke follow on twitter: @FatMikeTPK facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FatMikesMovieReviews/

        Hell & Back (2015)

HELL AND BACK review by: Mike Smith "Fat Mike" Three friends embark on a wayward journey into the deepest, darkest depths of hell to rescue one of their own. While navigating their escape, they provoke a slew of misfit demons, a super sexy angel, an infamous Greek legend and the Devil himself. After seeing this trailer I couldn't wait to see this independent film! The cast is full of talent and some of my favorite comedians and voice actors. Nick Swardson, Mila Kunis, T.J. Miller, Rob Riggle, Susan Sarandon, Danny McBride and Bob Odenkirk voice the main cast. I was more impressed with the costar talent made up of Brian Posehn, Maria Bamford, Kyle Kinane, Kumail Nanjiani, Greg Proops, Paul Scheer, J.B. Smoove, Dana Snyder, Paul F. Tompkins and the legendary H. Jon Benjamin as "The Tree". Unfortunately, as talented as the cast is, I felt little to no connection to the main characters. That being said, the story is good, ridiculous and funny; the jokes are crude and at times, laugh out loud funny. The best part of this film is the animation, stop motion animation is far and few between these days and I always strongly enjoy seeing the art form. Hell And Back is a fun ride with good adult laughs and a great cast. The only downfall I had was the lack of connection with the main characters and that this film is forgettable. But I would recommend checking it out. Cheers and remember life won't suck as long as there is a good movie to watch. 6.5 out of 10 edited by Samantha Locke facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FatMikesMovieReviews/ Twitter: @FatMikeTPK
